Epic Tour of Lisbon!

Joe_H, May 2025
Our "driver" Jose was incredible. He kept referring to himself as nothing more than our driver with jokes, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Jose took us around Lisbon and adjacent areas, showed us from a locals perspective the best parts of Lisbon, and even took us to some hidden gems! We had to modify our trip due to conflicts, and Jose took his subject matter expert knowledge and without hesitation modified the trip to accommodate our change in schedule. 10/10 would recommend Lisbon on Wheels, and specifically Jose!

Perfect Day!

Janie_N, Jun 2023
Jose was a terrific guide! Our private tour was on 13 May. He got us to the palace at opening and we had a wonderful, unrushed informative tour...and the weather was perfect! We opted to walk up and down from the palace rather than the bus. Made it very enjoyable for us. Lunch was at an out of the way place on the beach...delicious and beautiful setting. Colares wine tasting and visit to see where the grapes grow was very interesting. We really enjoyed our day with Jose, and would tell you to request him from Lisbon on Wheels through Viator. Thank you Jose!!

Best Day Tour in Lisbon

Amazing trip with Jose. He was extremely knowledgeable and flexible with plans. Best tour we have been on in a while and we would highly recommend this to other couples.

Definitely recommend, a great guide makes all the difference.

Jose was the best guide I had ever encountered. He works through a contractor of Viator Lisbon on Wheels, and if there is a way to request for him directly, I would. His number 1 rule "we do not rush" haha. Really enjoyed the conversation that ranged from everything to government, finances, history, politics and beyond. Really the highlight of our trip!

Our Guide, Mr Silva was amazing. In one day he showed us many places. We got to Pena Palace in Sintra, walk a little in Sintra center,. The went to a quiet restaurant in Colares near the wine tasting. From there to Cabo Roca and to Cascais for Pictures. In one day we got a little taste of Sintra. Recommended for those with little timebut that want a incredible day.

The palace looks almost modern. Saw all of the rooms, and they were all beautifully furnished. Very vibrant colorful architecture. We had a wonderful day with our tour guide. We traveled up the coast along the ocean with beautiful vistas. We made several stops along the way to visit points of interest. Learned about the history of Portugal and the past monarchy. We had a delightful lunch at an outdoor café, and tried some cherry port in a little chocolate cup, that was delightful. It was a full day. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and we enjoyed our conversations. He went out of his way to make sure that we were enjoying ourselves. I would highly recommend this tour!!

Brian H, Nov 2017
Such a packed day we ran out of time to see the Moorish Palace and Palace of Queluz!! In hindsight had we known would have skipped Cascais and the western point as we started with that these rather than the advertised itinerary. Despite this was an amazing day, National Palace, Sintra and Pena Palace were truly beautiful. Wine tasting was good and worth buying a couple of the 4 Euro bottles as really good quality.

Our tour guide arrived grouchy and did not seem eager to please us. He did get us to all the sights on the itinerary, but in hindsight we could have accomplished most of what he did with us on our own, spending longer in some places and eliminating others entirely.

A really nice overview of Sintra and the coast. We could have used more time at the Palace, I didn't have enough time to see the gardens. The guide was informative but sometimes had trouble with our American English. Wine tour was not possible since owner was away. We had some wine but it wasn't very good. In the future, I would request a guide who doesn't smoke, I ended up with a sinus headache, he didn't smoke near me but the car smelled of smoke.

Booked this trip accidentally! Thought it was a small group tour less than 12 or so but was pleasantly surprised at how personal and affordable the entire trip turned out to be. Jose was an AMAZING and knowledgeable guide. He picked us up in the morning and we went all over Portugal until about 5 or 6pm! We went to Cascais, Pena, Estoril and Sintra. We had beautiful experiences of the Westernmost point of Europe at Cabo da Roca, had a wine tasting, opportunities to tour 3 castles, shop and eat with the locals, visit beaches and incredible highlights like Boca do Inferno a rock formation named the Mouth of Hell. Jose was incredibly conscientious of what we wanted to see and was so knowledgeable it was like walking with a historian. So, so very glad we booked this trip, but also that we got Jose! Thank you so much!!

My daughter and I had a terrific day. Our guide, Jose from Lisbon on wheels was pleasant, informative and very attentive. It was a full day and we were able to cover a lot of different areas. I would highly recommend this tour.

I went on many tours during this vacation but this was by far the best trip. The Pena Palace was beautiful. This was a private tour so the tour guide was flexible about how much time we spent at each location and helped me find the best locations to take critical pictures photography is my hobby. Our guide also gave us ideas of where to eat and what to see at each location so we didn't miss anything. We also had free time on our own to just walk around and explore.

Our private tour was amazing. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable. He tailored our trip to suit us. We visited the coastal town of Cascais with him and ate amazing seafood. The castle at Sintra was spectacular and our guide stopped at all the perfect places for us to take photos. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Private Sintra Tour from Lisbon with Wine Tasting and Pena Palace The very flexible and at-your-service Josè took us on a tour through the municipal of Sintra. The goal was the Pena Palace and the wine tasting of wines from Europes most western wine region Private Sintra Tour from Lisbon with Wine Tasting and Pena Palace The very flexible and at-your-service Josè took us on a tour through the municipal of Sintra. The goal was the Pena Palace and a wine tasting of wine from Colares, the most western wine region of the continental Europe. A con: the representative of the wine house did not really offer us a proper wine tasting . She offered us a tasting off the two best selling wines of the house. As quite experienced wine tasters as well as foodies we expected more of a proper wine tasting. Saying that, the pro: Josè you know our guide did his very best to get her going. In the end this turned out to be a both memorable and fun day! So I say - Go for it!!!

william b, Feb 2016
We had a great day in Portugal on this trip. Our guide/driver met us promptly at our hotel. It was just two of us, so the mini van was more than ample and comfortable. We liked that we could tailor the day to our preferences. We got to cover a lot of ground. We saw the Moorish Castle, Pena Palace, Cabo de Roca, Cascais, Estoril and a lot of great scenery in between stops. The guide provided great information along the way. We had the flexibility of spending as much time as we wanted at each site. Overall we really enjoyed this Tour. And for the price we thought it was a great value.

This guide service could not be more highly recommended!! It is difficult to put into words the amazing experience provided to my mother and I by Nuno and his team of professionals. Our tour was customized to our interests and was a dynamic, varied and memorable journey. The sites, sounds, colors and warmth of the place and people were illuminated and brought into focus during our time with Nuno and Victoria. It was truly the trip of a lifetime. We were in Portugal for 12 days, and toured with Nuno our second and third day in the country. Though we enjoyed our other tours and guides, Nuno and his team went far beyond what was expected or even imagined. He and his team were attentive, considerate, personable and truly cared about providing us with the very best experience possible. I work in the wine industry, and Nuno crafted tours both days to include visits to several interesting and unique area producers. We tasted fantastic wines from many of Portugal's somewhat obscure grape varieties, ungrafted Ramisco in Colares, the very best olive oils and local produce and specialties black pork. If we saw something of interest along the way, cork trees, farm markets, etc. Nuno would pull the car over and stop, always allowing us plenty of time never rushing us. He was an excellent driver and navigator. Expecially on the very narrow roads in Sintra! Nuno, Victoria and Fernanda went above and beyond our expectations and we hope that others will have an opportunity to experience their professionalism, warmth, expertise and sincere hospitality. We cannot say enough about our wonderful experience touring the greater Lisbon area. The very best to the team and we look forward to our next trip to your amazing country. Thank you!

We 4 persons booked a private...

WIESLAW M, Sep 2015
We 4 persons booked a private, flexible time tour to visit Sintra. Our guide was Nene I hope it's a correct pronunciation. He showed up right on time at our rented apartment in Lisbon and took us for a trip in his 7 person van. He took us everywhere we wanted to go in Sintra and Cascais-Estoril area. We had plenty of time for visits, Nene was simply waiting for us to take us to a next place. It was a very hot day, we saw a lot of tourists tired from too much walking and waiting for a bus, we simply hopped into air conditioned van and drove to a next place. Nene was very nice, there was a heavy traffic around Sintra so he frequently used his phone GPS, and even called his colleagues to avoid congested roads get us to a new place to visit as quickly as possible. We wanted to see a lot so our tour with Nene took a couple of hours longer than average. He did not mind, he wanted to make sure we were happy and satisfied. We were very happy with Nene and this tour. We highly recommend it, I think it's the best option.
