Paula was an excellent guide. She lives in the area and knows it very well and has knowledge of all signigicant historical sites in the area. Felt like our new "best friend" after spending the day with her.

Skip the casino if you are expecting a historic experience. It is very modern. Sintra was the highlight especially with our guide, Paula, who was born and lives in Sintra.

Guide was professional but accent was challenging to understand. The van had issues with a/c. The tour was compromised due to hot conditions and threat of fires which closed the Pena Palace at Sintra. The coastal restaurant selected by our driver near Cascais was outstanding.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Dear Gary
Thank you very much for sharing your feedback with us. We are truly sorry that the day did not turn out exactly as you expected.
Regarding the van, we would like to clarify that there was no malfunction with the air conditioning. However, it was indeed an exceptionally hot period, so much so that the palaces themselves were closed due to the high risk of fire.
Mercedes vans, with leather interiors and large panoramic windows (even though tinted), do require a few minutes for the cooling system to fully stabilize and provide maximum comfort. We understand that in such extreme heat this can feel more noticeable, and we sincerely regret any inconvenience caused. In this specific tour, there are several short stops along the way, which unfortunately do not allow enough time for the vehicle to fully cool down before continuing, making the effect of the heat more perceptible.
Despite these challenges beyond our control, we hope that the rest of the tour was enjoyable and that you were able to appreciate the beauty of the region. Your comfort and satisfaction are always our priority, and we will continue to do everything possible to deliver the best service to our guests.
We would be delighted to welcome you again in the future, under cooler and more pleasant conditions.
Warm regards,

We had the best time. Manuel was an awesome guide. He knew all the ins and outs. Was extremely informative. Took us to extra places with unforgettable views. Went above and beyond. When you book this tour make sure to request Manuel. You will bless me for this recommendation.

Alex was an amazing guide - he turned up punctual and his car was so lovely to travel in. Also worked to our pace … as we don’t mess around ! Very knowledgeable with a lovely manner. Great restaurant recommendations for lunch and evening. Alex made the trip a 5 star experience!
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Dear Victoria,
Thank you so much for your kind words and wonderful review!
We’re thrilled to hear that you had such a great time exploring Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril with Alex. He’ll be so happy to know that his punctuality, knowledge, and thoughtful recommendations helped make your day a 5-star experience!
It was a pleasure to be part of your journey through Portugal — and we hope to welcome you back soon for more adventures.
Warm regards,

Our guide was terrific!! We enjoyed seeing Sintra and the palaces but our favorite part was riding through the beautiful countryside!!

Rubens was very professional and knowledgeable. We loved Pena palace, Sintra town, Cabo das Rocas and Cascais. Highly recommend it. Palace is very whimsical and beautiful. Recommend you get the transport to the entrance because it is uphill.

1. Nice driver is not a tour guide at all
2. Being a private « deluxe » tour at $500 for a couple for a day, they sent an older mercedes mini van for 10 people with stiff seats (and suspension) that don’t recline AND manual transmission. That makes for a rough ride. At this price point you would expect a sedan with automatic transmission. Makes for a very uncomfortable ride for a tour that’s mostly about riding around the area.
The operator was completely irresponsible and disconnected from the client. They knew there was a major Iron Man competition and everyone in the business knew that access to Cascais would be compromised and that destination is a major part of the tour. After driving around for one hour trying to reach the restaurant it became evident that it was impossible to continue with this unpleasant tour and we decided to stop it and head back to Lisbon.
Ended up asking for 1/2 of our money back through the customer service based in the Orient (which is completely dysfunctional) and we received an email stating that they were sorry that we were not satisfied but essentially to take a hike.
These subcontractors don’t care and hide behind the layers of intermediation in the system
Trip Advisor is doing a disfavor to consumers by referring us to companies that are irresponsible and don’t care about the satisfaction of the customer.
Response from Host, Oct 2024
Hi Loren.
We were waiting for your feedback ever since you requested a refund without providing any justification.
It would be best to clarify everything that happened rather than simply presenting a list of falsehoods.
The driver-guide is fully licensed with over 10 years of experience, and he accompanied you throughout the tour, even inside the monuments. Curiously, it was you who provided the incorrect time for the visits.
The vehicle was a Mercedes Vito with 8 seats, spacious and with large windows to offer you a comfortable and scenic ride.
You made two separate bookings (allegedly due to a mistake in the date), and we provided a 100% refund on the first reservation.
After we informed you that there would be an Ironman event that day which could affect the itinerary, you later messaged us requesting to add a visit to a winery, we received no further response from you. As a result, we had to cancel the winery reservation.
The tour started at 8:30 AM, and after visiting Sintra and Belém, you exited the vehicle and left the guide completely uninformed. You sent a message at 2:44 PM, stating that you were staying for lunch and that the guide was no longer needed. Do you consider this a half-day tour? From 8:30 AM to 2:44 PM when the tour was supposed to end at 4:30 PM?
Viator contacted us a day before your tour, mentioning that you might cancel the tour. Despite this being within the non-refundable 24-hour window, we graciously agreed to a cancellation without penalty. You then responded that you might want to reduce the tour to just 4 hours, and we informed you that we would offer a 25% refund (not 50%).
After completing the tour, you demanded a 50% refund, without informing us that you intended to shorten the day to only half a day, ending by 12:30 PM.
After many years in the tourism industry, serving thousands of wonderful clients, we occasionally encounter individuals whose sole purpose seems to be finding fault. Throughout the tour, you expressed dissatisfaction—not just with the vehicle, but with the food, the monuments, and even the queues.
We are confident that our clients and readers will see that in this specific case, we did everything in our power to accommodate your needs. Unfortunately, you approached the tour with arrogance and ill will from the very start.
Best regards.

A really convenient start to the day, picked up right outside our hotel, bang on time, by our tour guide Manuel in a comfortable air conditioned and spacious vehicle.
We'd already bought tickets for Pena Palace but hadn't realised how busy that place gets... Manuel got us inside on record time and once there, gave us an impressive tour, pitched just right with pockets of fascinating detail.
Clearly, because we'd unknowingly chosen the most busy of the palaces, this cut into the time we had for exploring Sintra and Cascais but we saw everything we wanted to see, and later, Manuel found us a lovely little town with a flea market and a bakery before talking us on an extensive coastal tour with breathtaking views.
All the way, he gave us fascinating information, not just about where we were bit also about the Portuguese way of life.
Highly recommended!

We had a terrific day, highly recommend this tour and driver. We went to Montserrat palace, amazing! Then had terrific lunch in Cascais, by the seaside. Truly great day.
Gregory_P, Aug 2024
The guide was outstanding. He gave us one of the best tours possible. We weee shown all the key points.
Alla_L, Aug 2024
We had a good experience. It was a lot to see. I recommend it if you are willing to do some things on your own. Driver is great. He explained us very well where and time of the meeting points at every location.
Brooks_P, Jul 2024
Rueben was an exceptional guide and ambassador for the region. His recommendations were spot on and he managed to weave us through the crowds to amazing locations including Pena Palace as well as a local restaurant that was amazing. He was a good photographer too as he took some terrific portraits of my wife and I.
janice_s, Jul 2024
Beautiful Pena Palace - knowledgeable and very courteous guide. Loved seeing the Capuchin Convent. Timely pickup and drop off with stops to see sights.
Marie_D, Jul 2024
Great Tour. Our guide Joseph - Anthony was very knowledgeable and considerate. He took us to beautiful places and provided great information. He also made sure we got to the palace on time and checked on us. He went in the palace with us to provide additional information. I highly recommend this tour.
5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Manuel was great and left me amazed with his knowledge of Portuguese history. He covered every detail when showing us the castles of Sintra. Would highly recommend.
Robyn_F, Jun 2024
Manual was a very knowledgeable guide and tailored our experience to our needs. We opted to skip the Pena palace as the lines were so long and Manual directed us to many hidden gems among palaces and gardens that were gorgeous and uncrowded! He also arranged for us to have a longer visit at the Hotel Palácio which we were very interested in for historical reasons. We saw so much and learned so much!!
john_s, May 2024
Manuel has a great deal of information and historical knowledge of Portugal. Great day with a great guide.
Jennifer_B, May 2024
we visited several areas sound Sintra and Cascais, Estoril. Alex was very informative and we toured places that we wouldn’t have thought of on our own.
Jennifer_F, Apr 2024
Alex was an outstanding guide. He was engaged, considerate, energetic and full of knowledge. He listened to our feedback and made sure our experience focused on our interests. We wanted to see beaches, the Western tip of Europe and every inch of Sintra. He totally delivered!

Phenomenal day exploring the beautiful area of Sintra and Cascais. Pedro was a gracious, kind and extremely knowledgeable guide. We enjoyed every minute and would not wanted to have taken the tour without him. We highly recommend this tour and if you are lucky enough to have Pedro it will be worth every penny!
Maxine_C, Feb 2024
Communications were excellent - make sure to read and reply to messages from tour operator because you have to buy your entrance tickets depending on which palaces you want to visit. We went with a 9:30 Pena entry (if you are in relatively good shape, don’t purchase the transportation - there was a long line for the small shuttle bus; it was faster for us to walk up the hill) and Quinta da Regaleira.
Pedro picked us up on time in a meticulous Mercedes sedan. He was an excellent conversationalist and driver. Shared a lot of history of the region and knowledge of the Pena Palace, as he guided us through it. We were on our own at Regaleira, which was fine. There is a lot to see outside of the palace and it’s better going at your own pace, exploring the grounds. The drive along the coast was beautiful - stopping at Cabo da Roca and Cascais. We had time for photos in front of the casino at the end.
The palaces and natural beauty were amazing, and Pedro made the whole experience even better with his friendly, jovial personality.

Pedro did an excellent job of catering our private tour for our abilities. We were able to visit several sites and got to spend some time walking around on our own. Pedro was quick to answer questions and even stopped by a cork oak tree to show and explain a little more about they work!

We had a really beautiful day in Sintra with our guide Ruben. He made our journey through the winding roundabout of the mountain effortless for us—and he had all the best info and stories. We loved the 3 architectural types and history of the Pena Palace, the Romanticism of Monserrate, and the food in Cascais!
Alexandra_S, Dec 2023
Very informative, interesting and well adjusted to our preferences. We travelled with a senior that has difficulty walking fast and long distances, but our tour guide Alfredo really took the time to explain the attractions at a manageable pace. The locations we went to were beautiful with interesting histories. Would highly recommend

This was a great tour!! Alex was a great guide and brought us to some fabulous places. He was very knowledgeable and made the last day of our trip quite memorable. This is a must do tour!
Emily_G, Nov 2023
Our tour guide Rueben was fantastic. He made suggestions and adjusted our day based on our feedback and so we enjoyed each part of our day. We learned so much about the area while enjoying the sites and eating some great food.

Guide "Vitor" lead the valliant charge on our tour of the Sintra and Cashcasi (spelled incorrectly)! With my being handicapped, it was great to have the compassion and experience Vitor provided when trying to limit our walking up and down hills and stairs. Picking up and dropping us as close as possible to our destinations (palaces, parks, cliffs, beaches, restaurants and shopping) was greatly appreciated. The ocean front lunch location suggested by Vitor, "Meste Ze Restaurant", served up the best meal we have had since arriving in Lisbon. The local favorite, "Salted Cod Meste Ze style" was fantastic and featured a huge filet, big delicious prawns, mussles, clams, onions, brocoli and potatoes drenched in olive oil, garlic slices and other spices. Really great, thanks Vitor!

Manuel is a very knowledgeable, experienced and well prepared tour guide. As it was pouring rain he adapted our tour and we had a wonderful and informative visit to the National Palace of Queluz. We also drove to several look out points, beautiful villages and through the park around Sintra. As well Manuel arranged an excellent lunch overlooking the ocean.
Teri_A, Oct 2023
We were able to change up the day to suit our tastes. Manuel never told us what we were doing, but by conversation we decided together what would suit us. We weren't interested in the very crowded times, so we managed to enjoy Sintra before the crowds arrived. We had such a full delightful day. Manuel knows so much about the history and shared the information in a good way. We were never bored and a wonderful seafood lunch. We highly recommend this tour.
