Pickup details

The times listed on our tours are the pickup and drop-off times. To ensure guests can arrive on time for their tour we require a 45 minute window between a ship's arrival time and a tour's pickup time. Likewise, we require 45 minutes between the drop-off time and the ship's departure to make sure guests will be back before their all-aboard time. If you are arriving on a ship or staying at a hotel in downtown Juneau, you will meet outside, under the cables of the Goldbelt Mt. Roberts Tram (490 S Franklin St) at your pick-up time. Find a Coastal Representative dressed in bright orange holding a yellow sign that reads 'Coastal Helicopters' to be checked in. If you are staying at a hotel near the airport, you will be met by a Coastal Representative outside the main doors of the lobby. For guests who dock at AJ dock, you can call to request pickup at your dock - this will be scheduled automatically for the first tour after a ship's arrival. We will be contacting you regarding your pick-up details.

I booked the excursion because it’s much cheaper than the cruise ship was selling it for. The experience is amazing. The extra glacier walk is definitely worth it. Highly recommend if you’re coming on a cruise ship to experience Juneau.

A great experience

Bob_L, Aug 2025
The trip to the glacier and the dog sledding was worth every penny! It's not too arduous either for a softie like me. The pilot and staff at the sledding camp were informative and good fun. Plenty of photo opportunities. A great experience.

Once in a lifetime

One word-SPECTACULAR! What a great experience! The mushers, the camp, and of course the dogs! Watching the mushers with the dogs, they clearly have a bond with the animals and make you feel quite at home learning about the life of a musher. Did I mention puppies?! :)

Safety was practiced,...

Safety was practiced, beautiful views! Mushing so much fun and glacier walk on Herbert couldn’t have been better.

Disappointed

Donna_O, Jun 2025
So apparently 20% of these tours get cancelled due to weather (per Josh, their head reservations person). I get it, nobody wants to go in a helicopter in bad weather. Our weather wasn’t raining but it was cloudy. We met the tour in Juneau by the tram. They got us checked in and then we stood around for about 20 minutes chatting with staff, who were all very friendly. Then out of nowhere, they told us all the tours for the day had been cancelled. For reference the weather didn’t change. It was cloudy when we checked in and cloudy when we were told it was cancelled. Since we weren’t leaving until late the next day, we were hopeful we could get on another tour. But after checking with their staff, we were told we should just go whale watching instead. So since we had nothing else planned (since this was supposed to last four hours) we booked a last minute whale watching excursion with one of the companies on the dock. It was nothing special, but 1/4 of the cost of the helicopter/dog sled excursion. Then we found out from another couple that was on the whale watching excursion that they had been scheduled on the same dog sled tour as us, but they were at the airport where the company HQ is instead of in downtown. They were assigned to another tour tomorrow. So my advice: don’t plan a (very costly) day in Juneau for this excursion. And if you do, make sure you’re meeting them at their HQ instead of elsewhere in case you get cancelled and (hopefully) can try to rebook.

Amazing

Great Alaska experience

What a delightful way to spend an afternoon! Absolutely loved our helicopter ride(s) - our pilot was a pro. The dogs and mushers were super entertaining and the glacier stop to explore was a big highlight for us.

Overall, trip of a lifetime

Tammy_H, Jun 2024
Overall, this was one of the best days of my family's life. Our helicopter pilot (Agnes) was very calm and friendly and she did a great job reassuring my scared teenager and made him feel at ease. The dog sledding was amazing and we loved every minute. The worst part of our trip was the gal (Sophia) who organized us to get on the helicopter. She obviously is over tourist and has very little patience. She must not know how expensive this trip is and how much it takes for families to be able to experience it. If it wasn't for her, I would give this trip 5 stars. I've always booked with Viator and never had a bad experience until now.

Response from Host, Jun 2024

Hello Tammy, We are so glad that overall you had the trip of a lifetime. We are sorry that this wasn't the case for the FULL excursion and we will appreciate the feedback. We will address this with our crew to make sure they are giving 5 star service from the time you check-in with us at the docks to the time we drop you off back down at your ship. Making our guests feel welcome is a priority for us, and we are sorry that we fell short. We are glad the rest of your excursion was enjoyable and we hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation!

If I have to do ONLY o e thing in Alaska - it will be this

We did the dogsledding option and it was much more than we dreamt of! Willow was an amazing masher and everyone at the camp was so nice and engaging!

Just do it! Most amazing excursion ever!!!

Amy_B, May 2024
This was the coolest experience ever! A comfortable van picked us up. The flight was breathtaking and our pilot, Thomas, was a wealth of knowledge and picked the coolest place to touch down for our glacier landing. The dogs!!! And how cool was it to go mushing on a glacier! One of our dogs, Legend, was a 4 time Iditarod completer. We got to pet them and learn about their lives. How cool!!! The staff at the dog camp were awesome and gave me additional sunscreen when they thought I was getting sunburn. The scenery is more awe inspiring than can even be stated. No pictures do it justice.

Once in a lifetime amazing experience 😀

Joanne_K, Aug 2023
The whole experience was amazing from the pick up driver to the orientation to the dog sledding experience, and the helicopter ride. Everybody went above and beyond to bring us the best experience possible The pilot took the time to explain about the glacier and what we were looking at. Truly an obscene in a lifetime experience . Thank you.

Unreal!

BetteJeanG_J, Aug 2023
Being with Iditarod racers !!! Experiencing what dog sledding is like! Being on a glacier field is an experience that is so hard to describe - YOU need to do it!

Great excursion

WENDY_A, Aug 2023

Helicopter and Dog Sledding Ride

Jeffrey_K, Jul 2023
Great staff and fun experience. First time on helicopter ride and it was great. The dog sledding was also a great experience and the dogs were hard workers and super friendly. Well worth the money!

amazing experience

Barbara_c, Jun 2023
everything about this experience was exactly as i expected and more. from the time we were greeted on the docks to the bus ride, to the heliport one after another everyone was so nice and friendly. Once we got up in the helicopter-totally amazing- and got to the camp-again totally amazing- to see all the dogs getting ready to do the sleighing was amazing. Then when we landed on the glacier and walked around -amazing this trip was TOTAL AMAZING and worth every dollar and the memories we will have forever

Walking on the glacier, holding a puppy, and dog sledding. The helicopter ride was outstanding. Great views.

Jaw dropping beauty & fun

Simonne_P, Jun 2023
Everything was perfect from pickup to drop off. The driver, the pilot, the musher and all the helpers. Couldn’t have been mor perfect. They all went above and beyond to make it extra fantastic. My only complaint is it was hard figuring out who/how to tip. I brought big bills because I thought we would tip one time but really should’ve brought smaller bills to be able to split it up. We had to borrow from a friend to be able to do that so we didn’t get to tip as much as we were planning. They deserved more than we were able to give.

Super

Francis_K, May 2023
It was so much fun and the musher was so informative about what he does The love and empathy he has for his Huskies is awesome Having working dogs myself

Perfect Alaskan Excursion Experience

Jason_L, Jul 2019
My family took a cruise along the Alaskan coast, but this excursion is really what made the trip. You fly in a helicopter over the beautiful mountains and glacier, then land and experience first hand a dogsled across the glacier while surrounded by scenic mountains capped with snow. Simply unforgettable. The air was clean and the weather was amazing. The staff was so friendly and genuinely loved what they do. Our musher was Acacia and she was a pleasure, taking us around with her loving and lovable sled dogs. Our little girls just fell in love with Colter and Bridger. The whole trip was also safe and easy. They provide you pull-overs boots to protect from the snow, and the sled doesn’t go too fast. Seems fun for all ages - I saw some grandma’s there and I went with my 9 and 7 year old girls. I’d recommend the second landing as well - in addition to the dog sled camp, you fly to land on the icy part of the glacier. This is like an alien world and you get to walk around and really experience the weird part of the glacier. The running water is ice cold and the cleanest on earth; we knelt down and drank from the stream directly - again unforgettable.

Fantastic

Una experiencia inolvidable.

Excelente experiencia.
