It was a 2 hour walk around Historic Charleston. Our guide Bruce was very knowledgeable and told interesting historical and current stories. He led us through alleyways and hidden gems, gardens, etc. as advertised. Well worth the money!

Al was our guide on this walking tour. Sure all the guides have a lot of info to give, but Al had a special way of making you feel part of his family for 2 hours as we explored the sights and alleys of Charleston. He has a unique ability to inform and at the same time is a consummate story teller. If you are lucky enough to have Al as your guide, you will learn a lot about the history of Charleston but also have a memorable experience !!!!

Informative walking tour of Charleston history with David. We learned so much and got to see so many beautiful sites. Highly recommend!

This was by far the most informative tour and very enjoyable. I would definitely do this tour again when back in Charleston.

David was a great tour guide! Funny, informative, knowledgeable. We learned a ton about Charleston and had a great time doing it. It’s also very interesting to cut through the back alleys with a local who knows where he’s going and how to make the most out of the shortcuts. Highly recommend this tour.

Absolutely wonderful walking tour led by a very friendly and knowledgeable man named Dugar. The guide made a point of asking each of us in our group of 10 our names and home towns and incorporated that information into his presentation nicely. We saw lovely historic homes, gardens, churches and enjoyed hearing the interesting history associated with the area.

Our guide Bruce who is a 7th generation Charlestonian provided wonderful insight on Charleston’s history during our back alley history tour. His knowledge and stories were interesting and entertaining.

Our guide made this tour extraordinary. Mark Jones is a history buff. Appreciate his knowledge and passion.
Laura_M, May 2026
Our tour guide started by saying that when he talks about the Civil War he doesn't favor one side or the other. Then proudly explained in detail how his family printed the Articles of Secession and demonstrated a clear bias against Sherman throughout the tour. Besides that the tour wasn't very engaging and was a lot of standing in the sun. We went on a different tour the day after this one and it was 100× better.

Mark was great and a life long Charleston native. It was nice to see his love for his hometown and listen to his abundance of knowledge.. it was our first time here and he was our first stop which was perfect!

A stroll around old time Charleston with a local guide who knows the history of his city and everyone who lives there. At one point we passed by an historic home when the owner came out. He happened to be a good friend of our guide, Bruce. When Bruce greeted him, the gentleman invited us into his home. What an experience! Bring your walking shoes.

This tour was amazing! Bruce, a seventh generation Charlestonian, is a wealth of knowledge. He has so many great stories and access to beautiful, hidden gardens and properties. I would have never learned all about Charleston’s elites and past history without this tour.
Deborah_W, May 2026
David was an amazing guide!!! Loved the history and the stories, good humor and honesty about Charleston. Why wouldn’t you want a guide who grew up here and know everything about this wonderful city. Don’t miss this trip !! 5 stars!!!!

A great tour giving a real sense of what Charleston was like during its height of being a port city along with fun stories and facts.

Our tour guide, Mark, generously shared his in-depth historical knowledge of Charleston. He pointed out interesting architectural features of the homes and buildings. We did the tour our first morning here and afterwards felt better able to appreciate the city.
Abby_M, May 2026

Brenda_N, May 2026
So glad we did this tour. Coach Dugger made the history come alive. He pointed out courtyards and gardens plus landmark buildings. My family thanked me for choosing this tour. The only thing to note is that there is a lot of standing during the talks. Wear confortabke shoes and bring some water if it is a hot day.
Jan_S, May 2026
Charleston is a beautiful place even off the main streets. The alleys and back streets have so much beauty, from the flower boxes, landscaping, architecture and history.
Roberta_P, May 2026
We really enjoyed this tour. Our guide was a native of the area and shared many interesting insights into the history and life there today.
Janice_D, May 2026
David is an informative and entertaining guide. As a native of Charleston he knew so much about its history and architecture as well as telling us about some of it's customs and traditions. I would thoroughly recommend this tour.
