Larry! Thanks so much for the review. It was a pleasure meeting y’all and I had an amazing time with y’all as well. We strive to bring new information about Charleston to the forefront of the conversation over a drink or two. Makes for a unique tour and I’m glad y’all found it that way. Safe travels and I hope to see y’all for that second visit to Charleston in the future !

Adam was the best guide ever! Super educated on the subjects and a great storyteller. Fun and friendly.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Adam is my best friend in the tour industry and one of the rare occasions where two separate companies teamed up to create this tour. He really does some amazing research and knows his stuff. I’m glad to call him my business partner and thank you for this amazing review. We hope to see y’all again in the future and safe travels ! -capt B

Adam was very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston. It was only my husband and I that signed up so we had a private tour! It was very interesting and we greatly enjoyed hanging at the Blind Tiger at the end having a Tiger Punch!

Captain Brian made history fun and interesting. He is a native of the area which provided a Birds Eye perspective about the area! His knowledge included fun facts that made this tour unique.

We had a great time with our tour guide Brian, he knows a lot of history and about Charleston. He showed us things to look for while we’re on our own walking the city , also met some great people in our group , glad we did it.

Such a great way to start our weekend in Charleston. We loved our history and hops tour - perfect amount of history and exploring downtown along with some amazing cocktails! Captain Brian was the highlight to the tour, he was so knowledgeable and friendly. We found ourselves sharing what we learned with the rest of our friends after the tour.. Loved that it was a small group (only 8 of us!) We highly recommend this tour w Captain Brian.

Bryan did a phenomenal job on the tour. One thing that we really liked is that he focused on the true history of Charlotte, rather than just legends or unverified statements.
I would definitely recommend to everyone who visits the Charlotte area. + I highly recommend the hard sweet tea at the first bar.

We really enjoyed this tour with Captain Brian. There were five other people in our group, total seven with us. Captain Brian was very knowledgeable about the history of Charlestown and the he Prohibition Period. He took us to two really nice bars and the drinks were very good. The snack was so delicious. We had a very good time I highly recommend this tour.

Tommy_C, Sep 2025
Captain Brian was great! He’s super knowledgeable and covers uncomfortable subject matter with respect and honesty. You’ll get a wide variety of historical stories – from grim to fascinating to fun – about a handful of places around downtown Charleston. It was a great way to spend an afternoon.

Have questions. Captain Brian was great and he has so much knowledge about Charleston he can answer any questions.
RuthAnne_M, Jul 2025
Adam was very knowledgeable. His interesting stories made the walk in the heat worth it. We were the only ones who signed up so we had a private tour. Be sure to try the rum punch along the way.
Cristina_J, Jul 2025
Captain Bryan was very entertaining welcoming and gave a lot of good information for someone who is not into history. My husband and I booked this for our anniversary and he also acknowledged that as well and kept it personal like you’ve known him forever!
Malone_T, Jul 2025
Bryan was an amazing and extremely knowledgeable historian and tour guide. The tour was not your average boring history tour. Bryan made it fun, lively, and incredibly interesting. I would highly recommend going on this tour or any of the other ones that he offers!

We met at a bar, and Bryan brought us all together to start learning a history of Charleston from the perspective of the drinking that was going on at the time. Personally, I am not a drinker, but thoroughly enjoyed the history lessons and background that Bryan had in his memory! The walk led us through pieces of Charleston that had rich history and lots of laughs! The tour was great and the guide was even better.
Olivia_S, May 2025
Excellent! The tour was historical without a tourist spin. The guide was knowledgeable and open to questions. And we got to see some of the history of Charleston that you’d probably pass by otherwise. We had a great time.
Jillian_H, Apr 2025
Captain Brian was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable, fun, and approachable. The tour groups are small to allow for questions and individualized discussions regarding Charleston and its drinking history. Captain Brian is a wealth of knowledge and provides a fun atmosphere for a great afternoon of walking, drinking, and learning!
Kevin_B, Apr 2025
This was a great tour. Small and intimate and Bryan was really knoweable. We did the same tour 4 years ago and did it again!
Caroline_B, Apr 2025
Bryan gave us such a great tour. There were only the four of us that knew each other and got a “private tour”. It felt so comfortable walking around the city with him and it was great to know his history and how fully invested he was in the city and giving a quality tour without sugarcoating the real history. It was so nice as well to have designated bar stops to start and end the tour and were able to stroll around the city. Bryan was such a great guide where he was able to cater some of the stories and history to the interests of the group. I can’t wait to recommend this tour to any family and friends when they come to visit again.
