A MUST DO. Don't be impressed with costumes or other bait, go for the real deal

Kelly_H, Jul 2026
Sam Jones is a gem. His knowledge, well beyond that of the tour specifics, was extraordinary. He shared the enthusiasm we all had for Boston, and his personality was captivating!

Great Tour!

Hal_H, Jul 2026
We did the 10:30 am Freedom Trail tour with Ashley on Tuesday, July 14. She told us she was from the Monterey Bay area of California, but she hosted us like a true Bostonian. I have been on dozens of historical city walking tours, but I think this is the first review I’ve ever submitted. Her knowledge of history and local culture was truly impressive. I am a college history professor in California, and I naturally assumed she was a professor, too, working this as a summer gig for fun. But she said she was not in any other classroom other than our tour. The amount and the depth of her knowledge was extraordinary, and she had us laughing hard with her “cold Samuel Adams” and “codnappers” stories. She is top notch, we will recommend her and this tour to friends, and when we come back, we will ask her to lead us again. Thank you!

Thank you so much for exploring the Freedom Trail with Ashley, we're so glad you enjoyed it!

Be prepared.

Kevin_G, Jul 2026
Be ready to walk some distance so wear comfortable shoes. Keep an eye out for weather and prepare accordingly. Our tour started with about 20 people, but only 10 of us stayed to the end due to the rain.

This was not the tour’s fault but I thought they might acknowledge it assist me. My wife had a faint spell and had to lay down in the graveyard. The tour guide just kept talking and then moved along. We were left on our own

Response from Host, Jul 2026

We're so sorry that you had this experience, we haven't been able to match you up to a name on our manifest, is it possible you were with another group?

Highly recommend

Judy_P, Jul 2026
This is a 2-1/2 hour walking/standing tour. Not easy for many in our group. The Tour itself was superb! Very interesting and entertaining. Ashley did a wonderful job 😊

Ashley_B, Jul 2026
The tour was 2.5 miles and two and half hours long. There are plenty of stops and listening to the guide along the way so you are not walking constantly. It was a wonderful way to learn about the history of Boston and tour so much!

Amazing history tour but groups are too big !

Sophie_K, Jul 2026
Super interesting tour with our guide Eliot, who was very knowledgeable and gave very relevant insights and stories about the history of the revolution. I would highly recommend her as a tour guide. One regret : the group was way too big for a perfect experience. I would have rather paid more to be in a smaller group and able to interact more with our guide.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thanks so much for braving the hot weather and big crowds over the July 4th weekend!

An amazing journey through history

Paul_B, Jul 2026
Alissa was an excellent guide. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable with lots of facts, lesser known ones as well, she was entertaining and very friendly. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Boston

Out of state family visit

Jacqueline_B, Jul 2026
Guide was very knowledgeable. The tour went at a good pace. The only thing that I was disappointed with was that because the tour included the USS Constitution we thought we'd be going over to the ship. We only go to see it from across the water. It was a nice view but not what we were expecting,

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thanks so much for the kind review! We do try to be clear about ending at Copp's Terrace, as going across the river to Constitution adds nearly another half hour onto the tour, which we have found to be a lot for most visitors.

Our guide was awesome!...

Brandon_S, Jul 2026
Our guide was awesome! Knowledgeable and did a great job of keeping us informed of everything we saw. Would highly recommend.

Entertaining way to learn about the city

Leslie_M, Jun 2026
Note: It is a lot of walking and Boston streets are often uneven pavement. Not necessarily the best option for folks with mobility or stability issues. That being said, we loved it! We try to do a walking history tour in most cities we visit and this provided a great background into the history behind the history you learn in school. Another warning, it was a rather large group, probably 30 people. But we had no issues hearing and it didn't slow us down. Do this on your first day and it'll give you an idea of places you may want to revisit later in your trip.

Elliot - Tour guide

Mike_M, Jun 2026
We really enjoyed our Freedom Tour. It was a great way to learn about the history and hear the stories behind the places we visited. Our guide, Elliot, was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable, friendly, and did a great job explaining things in a way that was interesting and easy to understand. You could tell she really knew the history and enjoyed sharing it with everyone. The tour was well paced, informative, and enjoyable from beginning to end. We would definitely recommend the Freedom Tour and hope others get the chance to experience it too.

The tour guide was knowledgeable but he didn’t have a microphone and it was hard to hear him. Also he didn’t have flag and it was hard to follow where he was going.

Kenneth was really knowledgeable and enthusiastic, a great blend of information and insight. Not accessible for all.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thanks so much for joining, we're so sorry if there were any accessibility issues! The tour is fairly adaptable, but we are limited to some degree by the urban landscape and its own accessibility challenges

We really enjoyed our 2.5 hr tour with Jules. She was upbeat and friendly, and, more importantly, knowledgeable and imparted so much information in a short amount of time! She even gave other recommendations for sights and restaurants. We visited Bencotto in the North End that she directed us too and it was so delicious and lovely. Only recommendation is be aware there was no comfort break offered so some of our party peeled off and one stayed so we could track location to catch up. Have fun!

Amazing history tour

Julia_E, Jun 2026
Our tour guide was amazing and had so many great stories to share about the history of all sites in Boston. It was like being in a history book! We were blessed with great weather the day of our tour and the 2 1/2 hour walk was enjoyable and a great pace!
