Loved it. Pacing was great and appreciated different narrators to change it up. Level of detail was informative without being overwhelming. Could pause at any time we wanted more detail. Stopped at Boston Massacre square to enjoy a beer flight at Sam Adams brewery. Nice walk on a beautiful day. Highlight was hearing the Old North Church Bells ring on the hour.

The information was very good. The playing of the information was sometimes difficult. Going between pages wasn't always smooth. Often it went back to the beginning and restart. It also has location tied in to the playing so that if you aren't in the location, the information can't be listened to. It is unlimited to use but you must be in biston on the freedom trail to play it.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Hi! Thanks! To note, you only have to be there to play the first stop. Then you'll unlock a virtual tour you can listen to anytime. Just try opening the walkntours app, then choose the classic freedom trail tour and click start tour, now you'l see a virtual tour option :) Thanks Greg @ WalknTours

Robinette_M, Oct 2025
Takes longer than 2 hours and make sure your audio is working. Otherwise fabulous. the trip is worth the time - but don’t schedule another trip too close :)

Freedom trail following double brick path was great! Difficult to hear dialogue due to low volume available—please address?

Unable to make it work

Roberta_A, Oct 2025
Very complicated (for me, anyway) procedure. I was never able to make it work. Thankfully, my friend was able to so she told me what I was seeing.

Freedom Trail - Boston

Marc_R, Oct 2025
The content was interesting and the walking directions of the tour were extremely accurate. My 3 star rating was based solely on the fact that it stopped working 75% of the way thru the tour.

Would recommend

It was so great to explore at our own pace. We enjoyed the back stories of the places of interest. It was easy to follow and easy to upload and listen to the tour.

Boston Freedom Trail Experience

Cynthia_W, Sep 2025
The stories and explanations are awesome. The GPS feature knows where you are so says things like ‘I’ll wait for you’ until you get to the next place. The directions are spot on. The only downside is that the recordings were obviously made during Covid and make references to places not being open because of COVID. So, time for an update!

Highly recommend!

Casey_W, Sep 2025
Wonderful experience! Takes you through the entire trail. Very engaging audio with precise and easy to follow navigational directions.

Geoff_C, Sep 2025
Narration was interesting but be advised that the app drains the phone battery quickly. Our batteries ran out before completing the tour.

Buggy

Linda_T, Sep 2025
We needed help finding the tour on the app and downloading it but that might be because my sister and I are in our 70s. It started off well, but on my iPhone 16 it kept crashing and I needed to restart it. My sister didn’t experience that same issue on an older iPhone (not sure what version). We ended up just sharing the app from her phone until batteries on both our phones died. They were fully charged when we started the tour.

Elevated the walking tour!

Brittny_J, Aug 2025
The tour was amazing. The narration was engaging and entertaining. Highly recommended! Was great to go at our own pace.

Waste of Money

Amanda_M, Aug 2025
Had to download a different app to try to use the tours I purchased. Couldn’t figure out how to make them work together and then had to repurchase in the app.

Great informative tour.

It was good to do this tour on our own pace. We took a break when we needed and stopped at few places for lunch and sweets. Very nice to just walk around and listen to the history.

Easy to use, easy to follow. The kids especially loved the GPS prompted features. Great content!!!!!

I wish we could speed up the talking otherwise great tour!

Kathryn_L, Jul 2025
I liked the tour. It had great information and was easy to navigate. However, I wish there was a 2x button to increase the speed of talking.

Quinisha_C, Jul 2025
It was a good experience but the app was a little confusing. I enjoyed the history behind each stop and how is it was to navigate through independently

Boston sightseeing

Mary_K, Jun 2025
It gives you information on the sights you see as you follow the trail. My husband wouldn’t pay for a tour he said we could just follow the trail. We would have just been looking at buildings and frankly lost without the app.

Solo Tour Boston

Sally_N, Mar 2025
This was great! I love a solo tour. It was very informative and timed just right. I would do this in another city in a heartbeat.

Michelle_C, Mar 2025
Great narration, excellent directions and very easy to use. Highly recommend but definitely take an external battery or charge pack because it does take a toll on your phone’s battery!

Self guided tour

Cindy_C, Feb 2025
A great self guided tour with wonderful information.. very interesting! My partner has a Samsung phone and I have an Apple.. they both seemed to play the tour very differently.. it was difficult to stay synced with each other.. we had to stop and catch up with each other.. would have preferred if they ran in sync with each other.
