The tour starts at the visitor center in Boston Common and ends af Ol Iron Sides. Narrator is clear and precise. It tells you exactly where to go and when to move on from a point of interest. You can go at your pace by simply pausing between sites. Very informative tour. Also, unlike a formal tour with a guide, we were able to soend extra time at places we were interested in along the route such as Warren Tavern, Modern Pastry, and Little Italy. Great experience. Highly recommend this method of exploring the Freedom Trail. We took 3 hours.
You cannot start the tour at a different location on the Freedom Trail. We stayed near the USS Constitution and then walked to North end then to Fanueill hall.
I’m a New Englander who has been to BOS more times than I can count. I learned a lot about Boston with this tour. Bring a good pair of sneakers and a bottle of water and enjoy.
Your was really engaging. Lived the dig deeper feature. The app was really glitchy however and frustrating to use.
The app did a great job of leading us through the tour. It kept up with us. We were able to spend more time at certain places that interested us more
Great experience. The vocal tour guide was very informative at each stop. The instructions were very clear. I loved the fact that I could go at my own pace as well. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Very good content, nice being able to go at your own pace and take extra time at stops along the way. Super easy use, install app, loada tour and go. And easy to stop tour for an extended period (like lunch!) and restart just where you left off. Its a long walk - so make sure you have your good walking shoes on. Mostly flat terrain with a few hills towards the end.
This was a wonderful way to experience the tour at our own pace! We were able to go in and out of stores throughout the route and we didn’t feel rushed at all!
The flexibility of this self-guided walking tour was really helpful when we tackled the Freedom Trail on the one vacation day it rained ALL DAY. When we got miserably wet, it was great to be able to pause the tour and step into an indoor venue to dry off a bit. It was also nice to be able to "skim visit" sites which did not hold much interest for us. The ease of hearing the well-informed narration through our ear buds was so much better than trying to position in a tour group in a place where the tour guide would be understood.
GPS doesn't work and the directions are vague and hard to follow. Good history but impossible as an experience if not with someone familiar with the area

It sounds like you clicked "Virutal Tour". That gives a message that the GPS is turned off :). This mode is to listen anytime. 1000's take this tour handsfree with GPS :). If you'd like a refund, please email me at info@walkntour.com
Definitely start with a full charge on your phone and ear buds. We made it to the end of the walk but just barely. We learned a lot! We stopped the narration here and there to visit longer and were able to pick it up again.
This tour involves so much walking so wear comfortable shoes and bring water. At some points where you are supposed to go is a bit confusing but overall you see most of it by following the audio guides directions. You do use your own phone as your audio guide so make sure that you have a charged phone.
The WalknTours itself was excellent! The narration, sound effects and music were perfect and directions so clear it was like having someone in person leading the tour. I also listened to it again later to fill in more details. My only problem was getting started. I had my ticket through Viator, but it would have been helpful if the instructions said to completely download the experience before going to starting spot. Thankfully, the Boston visitor center was able to get me started.
It was so nice to go at our own pace and stop if we needed something to drink or wanted to look around. We are able to go back and use the tour again to visit what we missed. Would definitely use again.
I never got an email with a code or anything so we paid for the tour and never got to use it. Very frustrating.
IT was easy to use and practical. Very convenient way to learn about the city and history at your ow pace.
The information was very good. The playing of the information was sometimes difficult. Going between pages wasn't always smooth. Often it went back to the beginning and restart. It also has location tied in to the playing so that if you aren't in the location, the information can't be listened to. It is unlimited to use but you must be in biston on the freedom trail to play it.

Hi! Thanks! To note, you only have to be there to play the first stop. Then you'll unlock a virtual tour you can listen to anytime. Just try opening the walkntours app, then choose the classic freedom trail tour and click start tour, now you'l see a virtual tour option :)
Thanks

Takes longer than 2 hours and make sure your audio is working. Otherwise fabulous. the trip is worth the time - but don’t schedule another trip too close :)
We really enjoyed the tour. Had some questions early on and someone was promptly available to help. So nice to have a plan and hear the history. We were not dissappointed.
Easy. Great to go at my own pace. I needed to go quick due to an upcoming flight. Would do this at other places.
It was great. It was very informative and a really fun walk. We all learned a lot and had a great time! We highly recommend this and can’t wait to come back and do it again.
Loved this tour! It was great to be able to go at our own pace and pause when we wanted to. They audio was very informative
Loved it. Pacing was great and appreciated different narrators to change it up. Level of detail was informative without being overwhelming. Could pause at any time we wanted more detail. Stopped at Boston Massacre square to enjoy a beer flight at Sam Adams brewery. Nice walk on a beautiful day. Highlight was hearing the Old North Church Bells ring on the hour.
Freedom trail following double brick path was great!
Difficult to hear dialogue due to low volume available—please address?
Very complicated (for me, anyway) procedure. I was never able to make it work. Thankfully, my friend was able to so she told me what I was seeing.
The content was interesting and the walking directions of the tour were extremely accurate.
My 3 star rating was based solely on the fact that it stopped working 75% of the way thru the tour.
This audio worked well. The arrows were helpful. Would recommend to anyone new to Boston interested in the city sights
It was so great to explore at our own pace. We enjoyed the back stories of the places of interest. It was easy to follow and easy to upload and listen to the tour.
The stories and explanations are awesome. The GPS feature knows where you are so says things like ‘I’ll wait for you’ until you get to the next place. The directions are spot on. The only downside is that the
recordings were obviously made during Covid and make references to places not being open because of COVID. So, time for an update!
Wonderful experience! Takes you through the entire trail. Very engaging audio with precise and easy to follow navigational directions.
