Our guide was friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. He pointed out interesting sites and made to sure to find shelter when possible in the pooring rain.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Everybody on the tour was friendly as well. So thanks!
Kalyn_M, Apr 2025
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. I learned a lot and enjoyed the history. The weather was not favorable and there was a protest going on in the Boston Common at the end of tour. Obviously these elements were out of the tour guides control.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
I apologize for the weather and the demonstration and did my best to minimize their impact on our tour. As you noted, those were out of my control (and yours too).
Yesenia_R, Aug 2024
Our tour guide was AWESOME. He went out of his way to accommodate us when we got lost on our way to the meeting location. The tour was great, he was informative, and funny.
Response from Host, Aug 2024
Well, that was an Awesome Review. Thanks!
Glenn_K, May 2024
Terrible tour guide. Older gentleman who simply didn’t speak very loud and didn’t give a lot of information. The group had a kid from kindergarten and he repeatedly would ask him question's. Couldn’t wait for it to be over and would have been better with no tour. We repeatedly had other tours near us and their guides were a far better source of information for me than our guide.
Response from Host, May 2024
No idea how to respond to this. I do indeed involve kids when they are on the tour and adults that are persnickity. Guess I missed this person.
Karen_J, Apr 2024
Learning about the History of People I learned in school. Meeting new people and learning about the history of our forefathers and being in Boston.
Victoria_H, Oct 2023
It was interesting learning about the architecture, but I would’ve liked to have heard bit more about the history.
Response from Host, Oct 2023
I try very hard to connect the history with architecture, trying my best interweave them in a pattern that wove its way through time to become the Boston we know today. I am sorry you didn't get that connection.
Dot_W, Sep 2023
There was nothing good about it! I had taken my granddaughter who is a young adult to instill in her America's history and heritage. What we got was a black woman who did nothing but talk about the history of black culture...even commending Malcolm X as a great American. I came away totally disgusted and while the Viator walking tour had been recommended to me by a friend, I saw other groups with a costumed and "performing" guide. A GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT and a waste of money!!!
Response from Host, Sep 2023
I am very sorry you were disappointed. I will discuss this with the tour guide. In the meantime, contact me directly at Alan@Bostoncitywalks.com and I will arrange a refund. You are also welcome to take a tour with me personally at no cost to help make up for this.
Robert_L, Sep 2023
Alan our docent was very knowledgeable of the history of Boston and was ery entertaining with his presentation along the way
Christel_G, Jul 2023

Response from Host, Jun 2023
Appreciate your kind words. Hope you enjoyed the architecture and cultural components as well.
Sarah_R, Jan 2023
Alan was wonderful. Very insightful and had so much knowledge about the history of Boston and its architecture. It ended up just being my friend and I, and we loved having it personalised to us, and what we wanted to learn. Fantastic!
Response from Host, Jan 2023
Thank you for the lovely review and kind words. It was my pleasure sharing Boston with you!
Charles_B, Dec 2022

Sirin_S, Jun 2022

Perfect is actually pretty good, so thank you very much. That was a good group!
Paul_M, Apr 2022
Very knowledgeable guide who made it a memorable trip our guide engaged everyone including our 11 year old
Response from Host, Apr 2022
Our goal is always to make it memorable.
Carrie_G, Apr 2022
There wasnt as much about freedom trail history as i would have expected but was still a good experience
Response from Host, Apr 2022
This tour covers the Freedom Trail Sites between Faneuil Hall and Beacon Hill. It also includes Boston's founding prior to the Revolution as well how the architecture and culture related to all that. I am not sure what more you expected. Could you please articulate?
Digna_P, Mar 2022
The tour guide asked another $15 each of us as payment for the half of the tour. After the tour, we gave him $40 in cash then we asked him where we could catch the trolley bus for our next tour, he instructed us to go to a direction opposite to the place how to catch the trolley bus.
Response from Host, Mar 2022
The tour you signed up for is the 70-minute Downtown Freedom Trail Tour ending at Boston Common. Some folks do continue on from there to Back Bay via Beacon Hill, which is an additional $15 if you did not sign up for that in advance. It was not "half of the tour" you signed up for. It seems that you enjoyed the tour since you tipped $10 in addition. I am not quite sure what transpired with getting to your other subsequent tour, but I apologize if you got lost.
Sabrina_H, Dec 2021
This was so fun and our tour guide was great! He was very knowledgeable and made it fun! Highly recommend!
Response from Host, Dec 2021
Fun and knowledge go together very well. Thank you for your input!
Sydney_H, Dec 2021
Alan brought the whole tour to life and made it a memorable experience, especially my grandson who was visiting from California and was doing the freedom trail for the first time.
Response from Host, Dec 2021
It is great when history comes alive for younger folks. Thanks for sharing that!
Kelvin_S, Dec 2021
Our guide was brilliant, made history come to life for us, great and humorous way of giving information to us. Highlights were the Boston massacre, Mount Vernon, the park and common, finally the church by the library.
Response from Host, Dec 2021
All the magic and results of a great tour. Appreciate your inputs.
Tasha_O, Nov 2021
Our guide was excellent. I appreciated his thoroughness and charm. He did an excellent job at explaining the history in simple terms as well as tying it into modern times such as how Boston celebrates the historical moments now. He brought a sense of humanness to the historical facts as well as provided a level of historical perspective which I often miss in reading or in other tours.
We visited many places on the tour which brought much context into our overall stay in Boston. It was easy to locate the guide and we lingered at the first stop probably the longest to to give late arrivals time to catch up.
I thought the tour was very reasonability priced based on what we got. We spent 70 minutes go through much of downtown and had the option to pay $15 more to continue with the 2-hour tour that went past the Boston Commons.
mom31982, Nov 2021
Andrew was AWESOME! This was educational as well as humorous, I’d tour with him anytime. This was a good tour
Response from Host, Nov 2021
Andrew does a great job!
Janet_R, Nov 2021
Less history of the buildings and more history of the people. Good guide though. Maybe also if he was dressed in costume like the other tour guides.
Response from Host, Dec 2021
Appreciate your comments. What differentiates us is the added feature of architecture which we try to keep as part of the historic context. The "current day" dress is meant to indicate we have today's vision in looking at the history.
Virginia_R, Oct 2021
Really made a difference that it was a small group. Guide was really knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating.
Response from Host, Oct 2021
We try to limit size so everybody can hear.
Peggy_P, Oct 2021
Our guide, Alan was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. I enjoyed the walking tour and learning about the history of Boston.
Response from Host, Oct 2021
Thanks. I enjoy giving them as well!
Marylou_R, Sep 2021
Good experience
Guide was knowledgeable
Difficult to hear at times and would have been beneficial if he had a microphone
Brenda_P, Sep 2021
The stories shared, the fun whit…
Lots of great information.
Very knowledgeable. Just the perfect amount of time.
Response from Host, Sep 2021
Glad that this tour suited you!
Sarah_I, Aug 2021
Extremely glad we did the guided tour instead of just walking the trail. It brought history to life and gave more insight than you’ve ever read about!
Response from Host, Aug 2021
Thanks for those encouraging words and message!
Olesya_M, Jul 2021
Very fun tour guy! Lots of clever jokes and interesting related information, not to mention that it was very educational lecture
