Definitely worth using to get to marthas Vineyard. Your not doing the driving, and worried about ferry connections, and coming back. Jonnie Boston was great on the way there and back. They ferry was easy. We were able to rent affordable bikes from MVe Bikes in Oak Bluffs to ride to Edgar Town and back.

Itinerary

Begin with pickup from select Boston hotels, followed by a relaxing drive to Falmouth on Cape Cod. Water and light snacks are provided en route, as well as Martha's Vineyard guidebooks.

Arrive at the dock to board the Island Queen ferry to Martha’s Vineyard. Enjoy a brief mini-cruise across Vineyard Sound to the island. From there, have ample time to explore Martha's Vineyard at your leisure.

For an introduction to the island, an optional tour upgrade is available. Visit the Gay Head Light, an iconic island lighthouse in Aquinnah. Travel through the historic village of Edgartown and learn about the area’s history from a guide. After the tour, have free time to explore the island on your own.

At the end of the trip, board the ferry for an afternoon departure and cruise back to Falmouth, where a return shuttle takes you back to your original Boston departure point.

Sightseeing made easy. Pickens up at our hotel on time and travelled by van to the ferry. Our driver was great. She told stories most of the way. Ferry ride was pleasant. Bus tour of the island was informative and beautiful. Lunch at Nancy’s. Travel back was seamless. Highly recommend this tour

I had never been before loved the ferry. I wanted to go to jaws sight but this was not included in tour. My fault for not reading the brochure ell enough and shops were typical for touristy area. Food fair and decent prices, the arcade was great while waiting for return ferry,

Nice scenery but it was boring The driver was ok personality wise but he drove too fast for us to see what he was talking about.

Not much to see

Not much to see on Martha's Vineyard. Best part of the tour was the shuttle driver to and from the ferry. It's a 2 hour drive from Boston to Woods Hole and our guide, Johnny Boston was both entertaining and informative. He helped the time pass quickly. Unfortunately once we got off the ferry the island itself was a big letdown. There is one scenic view, the Aquinnah Cliffs and lighthouse. Other than that it mostly looking at tree lined gravel drive ways that lead to unseen mansions of famous rich people and expensive boutiques in unremarkable small towns. There is a long rather boring beach where Jaws was filmed.

Great day out we took the tour around the island the driver was Tom couldn’t have asked for a better person Drive to and from and a stop for coffee and Something to eat Don’t sit near the wheels as the roads had pot holes which didn’t do my back problem any good all in all a better day then we thought Martha Vineyard was was 3 times the cost then we thought

Don’t do it

Horrible experience, we were picked up late about 50 minutes late and then left in the 47° weather outside waiting for a tour bus we get to Martha’s Vineyard and the driver wants to charge us an extra $60 for a tour that only you get to see the road and oak trees and the ocean nothing else he talks about celebrity homes that you don’t see it’s only wooden cheap gates And nothing exciting. Don’t do it.!!! Bad bad horrible and boring

Day trip to Martha’s Vineyard with guided island tour.

Almost everything on Martha’s Vineyard was closed on 10/28 so it was no fun to look around. Houses were boarded up and shops were closed. The tour guide said it was the second to the last day they were even doing the tour. I paid $185 not including 2-$20 tips and it was really disappointing. They shouldn’t have offered the tour this time of year.

This is not a good trip to take. The bus ride from Boston to the ferry was fantastic. Once on Island, you board an old, beat up white school bus with uncomfortable seats, small windows, with no ability to see where you’re at. It was extremely difficult to understand our Jamaican tour guide and you are rushed around the island. I do not recommend this tour.

A trip around Martha’s Vinyard

If I had the option I would give 3 1/2 stars. It is a FULL DAY TOUR! 2 1/2 hours to the ferry and same time getting back from the ferry is the worse part, but not horrible. Once on the ferry and getting to the island is enjoyable and scenic. We opted for the guided tour and Tom was an encyclopedia of the history and culture of the island. Tour is a thorough view of basically the entire island and towns. Not a lot of WOW moments but a few interesting facts and some nice views.

The only reason it is close to that on the way to the ferry is because of a coffee/restroom stop along with a beautiful photo op at an amazing lighthouse. Bus ride gets you all around the island with time to shop. Very informative and fun. Better after the summer rush we got to see the fall colors less crowded and shops were at 50% off in most areas. Half the shops were closed for the season. But the open mix was fine.

More stops/off the bus

You are not going to see, not even from a distance, the rich and famous homes. We did enjoy the rich homes in Edgartown but should have had a stop/off the bus by the Gingerbread homes and the Jaws movie area.

Loud old bus

The bus was loud. I sat in the back and even with speakers back there it was hard to hear the driver speak. Some employee said the bus needs a bearing and that was the cause of the excessive noise. The driver was very knowledgeable when I could hear him

Elaine was very thoughtful and conscientious driver. We had a rest stop at a McDonalds. She took us to see a lighthouse since we were a little early for the ferry. She was caring about my use of a walker and put it out for me when needed and stored it when we were off to another stop. She explained about the arm as a map of sorts. She instructed about the envelope with ferry tickets to go to Oak Bluffs and return to Wood Hole.

Beautiful sites, great guide on island, scary on mainland

Very aggressive driver for bus. We were nervous the whole time and almost felt sick. She talked alot about herself! The rest of the trip was very good and Keith the van driver/guide on Martha's vineyard was wonderful taking us to extra sites.

Old, creaky school bus...

Old, creaky school bus for the island tour was not good and the ventilation wasn’t working. The windows were constantly fogged up and unable to see hardly anything. Also the guide spoke very quickly and did not direct us well.

Fun day out

It's a long day with early pick up but a nice run down to Cape Cod with fantastic fall foliage. Drivers very knowledgeable and interesting. The small bus tour of the island was able to take us to places that the larger buses could not access.

Take the Shuttle....Not the tour!!

Tim the tour guide/bus driver (from Boston to the ferry and back) was a 5 star!! He was the best part of the tour. The island tour was awful. The Jamacian bus driver/tour guide was nice enough but whoever is writing his canned speeches needs to get rid of the "poor me" , "everyone is rich on this lisland", "there is nowhere for workers to live", etc etc etc.... It was tiring to hear that same song throughout the trip. The second issue I had was the tour itself. Due to the winds the ferry docked in Vineyard Haven instead of Oak Bluffs. So the tour started in Vineyard Haven and went counter-clockwise around the island. We were excited to see the views as well as the gingerbread houses in Oak Bluffs. Once we loaded in old school buses we raced around the island (between 40-45 mph) on two laned roads looking at unpaved driveways leading to houses we couldn't see. We did make a few stops but for the most part we just flew by everything. But the big thing was....the driver skipped the village of Oak Bluffs all together!!! WHAT??? He drove us back to the ferry...stopped the bus....held out his hand for tips and we were done. VERY disappointing!! There was a small group of us that paid for a taxi to take us to the Gingerbread Houses...and the taxi driver was great!! So...I do not recommend the Island Tour (unless you can get Tim (Minibus #23!!) to conduct and drive the tour!!)

The day of your trip the captain's choice was Vineyard Haven. This certainly had an effect on the day's itinerary as Oak Bluffs is now not a part of the day. Elaine was an excellent driver and guide. She gave us some history as we drove along. I really enjoyed the trip. Hopefully when we return Elaine won't have retired as we would definitely request her.

This was a very fun, informative, and interesting trip. Our driver, Jonathan, was very knowledgeable about the history of Massachusetts and was very accommodating to everyone. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to go from Boston to Martha’s Vineyard and back.
