- The driver in the bus narrates in English. When he brings you to the boat that takes you to Alcatraz, they give you audio guides in 12 different languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Mandarin.
- We reserve the right to buy tickets to Alcatraz in the morning and do the city tour in the afternoon. Then you have to get to Pier 33 on your own, after Alcatraz tour, we will pick you up from Pier 33 and we will bring you back to your hotel after the city tour.
- We do not pick up people if they are out of our pick-up area. We pickup from Downtown or from Fisherman's Wharf. Always call or write to us in advance to confirm your pickup location.
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 28 travelers

The tour time and itinerary were subject to change, and we were not notified of the changes until the night before. The tour was scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m., which gave us very little time to adjust our transportation arrangements. In addition, the driver was late for pickup and did not contact us until after we had requested a partial refund. Overall the customer was not great

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We sincerely apologize for the delay and for the frustration it caused during your tour day.
We would like to clarify the arrangements that were communicated to you. On the evening before the tour, at approximately 7:00 PM, we informed you that the Alcatraz portion of the tour would take place in the morning and the city tour in the afternoon. As stated in our Viator tour description, we reserve the right to change the order of the tour components when necessary. When Alcatraz is scheduled first, guests are brought back to their hotel after the city tour in the evening rather than being picked up from their hotel in the morning.
You attended the Alcatraz portion in the morning as scheduled. Unfortunately, our van was approximately 30 minutes late for the afternoon city tour. We are very sorry for this delay. It was Labor Day weekend, one of the busiest travel periods of the year, and the city was experiencing unusually heavy traffic and significant gridlock. We were also receiving calls from other guests who were being advised about the traffic conditions.
We understand that waiting 30 minutes was frustrating, and we are sorry that you ultimately decided not to continue with the city tour. The other guests who remained on the tour were able to complete the city tour and were very pleased with their experience, as reflected in their reviews.
We regret that the circumstances affected your experience and appreciate your understanding of the unusually difficult traffic conditions that day.
It’s amazing to learn so much history when you visit landmarks such as this. Alcatraz is definitely a landmark to visit while being in San Francisco.
It’s a part of history that everyone should know about. The entire tour was just amazing and very interesting. I think the best part was actually meeting Mr. Baker and purchasing his book.

Buddy our tour guide for the San Francisco tour was very knowledgeable and friendly.
This was an audio tour. It was interesting to hear about all the history of Alcatraz & some of the more notable prisoners.
No time for food. Normal stopping place closed on Monday, we were not told of this prior to departure.
Buddy our guide was the best- very kind, personable and knowledgeable about SF; covered historical facts and interesting information about all the points of interest in the city. The Alcatraz portion was also excellent. Total experience 5 stars! True value!
We took the tour with Buddy and it was good as he brought us around San Francisco to all the major sights and the dropped us off at Alcatraz for the tour. The only draw back was no time for lunch other than eating something on the run.
Our tour guide Doug was not very good. Didn’t see half the stuff on the itinerary. Hey took us to a place and said you have 20 minutes to get food and the food choices were either $20 ham sandwich or a $20 turkey sandwich. I am worried that my next couple trips will be with him and have to deal with his not so pleasant experience. He then dropped us off to go to our Alcatraz tour and got mad because I didn’t have any cash on me for a tip. Did not know that I was supposed to have cash on me and let alone tip for a disappointing tour.

Don't waste time w/the bus part of the tour. This was one was a bust. Late pick up of 1/2 hour and bathroom stop for the driver first thing! Started the tour about 9:15am. He displayed a sign above his head that implied it was customary that the total amount of gratuity is 20% of the total bill we paid for the tour. Tour description stated water would be included - there was none. (we - and the others, would have brought our own if we knew). Not anything exciting or informative about San Francisco that we didn't already know - like the earthquake). He did share his personal opinion on politics as it relates to the leadership of the city, the dislike of AI along with the "techies" of San Francisco and how they ruined the architecture of the city. Drove us to 2 stops that are no longer allowed by the city (signs posted that no tour buses are allowed) so we had to hop off the bus...take our pics and he circled back around to pick us up right away. Drove past Robin Williams house that seemed important to the driver (which was under major construction and covered in tarps). He flew through the parts of the city worth stopping at i.e. the Haite and Ashbury area with some of the most beautiful murals, and drove quickly through Chinatown. The frosting on the cake was how proud he was to take us through the "tenderloin" area and how the smart politicians created housing for the homeless drug addicts. Which by the way, were doing drugs on the street as we drove by! The only saving grace was the AMAZING Alcatraz tour (which he had nothing to do with).
We were very happy with our tour of the city. We actually had the owner of the company as our guide. He was very knowledgeable of the area and kept us laughing too. We were happy to have booked with Viator. Would recommend.

Fantastic tour of San Francisco city. Our tour guide Randy was very knowledgeable and friendly. We feel that we’ve really seen the city and all the districts, learned the history and had a real San Francisco experience. The Alcatraz tour topped off the experience. We’ve had such an amazing day and highly recommended this trip.

Very comprehensive tour of the city and all the places we wanted to see. We appreciated the opportunity to get out and take pictures as well as bathroom breaks. The amount of time was adequate and we were able to see if we wanted to visit anywhere again.
Jerry was just phenomenal with his expertise of the San Francisco history. It was a great morning! He kept the teenagers interested too!
Excellent tour, very informative and interesting. Stopped at various stops for pictures and ended with tour to Alcatraz, where you will be on your own at that point.
Was great way to see the city. Buddy took us around in his comfortable van. He was funny and informative.
Unfortunately, there was poor communication from the beginning. It wasn't clear whether you were to meet with a guide from the beginning and turns out part of the tour you were on your own. This would have been fine but that was never communicated. The itinerary when you purchased the tour waa different from what actually occurred so it was hard to know where to go and what times. I received several text messages with conflicting times of when to meet. I kept sending messages and didn't alwas get a response. The tour guide, Michael, was very rude at times. At one point, someone expressed they needed a bathroom and his reply was "well I can't create a bathroom". He was lucky the passengers were respectful but he definitely needs training on dealing with customers. Overall, I did not think it was worth what we paid.
Our tour guide, Randy, was what made our city tour so impressive! He put his personal touches and experience into everything he took us to. He gave human interest information that we might never have found out. He even showed us his personal pictures of what the building look like at different holidays. He played songs from the 70’s by the artists whose houses he took us by. The Alcatraz part was perfect length of time to see the island and do the self guided tour. We would highly recommend this tour for those who are visiting San Francisco for the first time.
I had booked this trip for my senior citizen parents (aged 65 yrs) and they enjoyed it thoroughly. Randy was a fantastic guide. Due to a week day, they were the only participants which made it more like a private tour. Would surely recommend everyone.

There's a lot of History talking and foto stops to enjoy our trip. Tour Guide very friendly and make us all to fill like home. Excellent driver. We even have the time to grab a delicious Mexican Hot Dog 🌭

Alcatraz was a great experience. The history of Alcatraz was very interesting. The only thing that was crazy was all of the flies. I guess because the weather was warm the flies were in abundance. You had to use paper fans to try to keep them off you.
Randy provided us with a very comprehensive and informative tour of San Francisco, it's clear he is proud of his city. We saw so many great sites and covered much more than expected. Alcatraz tour was interesting. We appreciate that the tour operator coordinated this for us. A great day from start to finish.
