Superb Trip

Claire_H, Oct 2022
Superb trip with Barbara, our wonderful guide for the day. We had a very small group - 6 tourists, and Barbara navigated the tour at a very relaxed pace. Sermoneta is a stunning little city with fantastic history dating from around 1100. The gardens of Ninfa are truly superb - green, quiet and beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful day Barbara!

A wonderful journey thru time

Inside the castle, going thru the secret passage. Seeing the stable where the knights kept their 40 horses. The room of frescoes in the castle. Smelling a beautiful white rose in the Garden of Ninfa. Hearing the birds and the water in the beautiful, calm, green Garden.

Superb in every way!

This trip is for anybody who likes their history and/or their gardens! The Caetani castle is a great example of 14th century architecture, in a classical setting on a small peak. The whole village is picturesque, cheerful, friendly, and puts on a good lunch.

Superb in every way!

If you have any interest in garden layouts and arrangements this is a must see! Castello Caetani first is well worth the trip, going through little passages in the walls, and down to the stables, its a great insight into the 14th Century. After lunch down to the beautiful gardens of Ninfa is glorious. Its an English garden layed out over an old ruined village, with watercourses at many turns. I half expected to see Ophelia from the Millais painting go drifting by . A great trip.

This was a great tour - a highlight of our 2 week holiday in Rome. The garden of Ninfa is very beautiful indeed - the abundant flowing spring water, the trees, the plants and the ruins in which they grow make it quite magical. We had an excellent lunch in the interesting fortress town of Sermoneta. We enjoyed Patrizias tales of Lucrezia Borgia and her clear and interesting explanations of the knights templar whose abbey we visited on the way, of Sermoneta and of other points of interest on the drive. Patrizia was an excellent guide and a charming and cheerful companion. Our driver Manuel was careful and patient. We would highly recommend this peaceful and interesting day trip from Rome.

This trip was wonderful. It was the most beautiful garden I have ever seen. The small group was great. Nicole was a fantastic guide, really knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. It was one of the most interesting and fabulous tours I have ever been on. Highly recommended.

There were only 8 of us in this tour, making this trip more personal for us. Our guide gave us a lot of information not only about the places visited during this tour and the role they played in history, but also about many aspects of life in Rome. The Castle Caetani in Sermoneta was impressive and we got a lot of details on its history from the local guide, information translated in perfect English by our guide. After a relaxed lunch in one of the trattorias in Sermoneta we visited the Ninfa garden set up among the ruins of the old Ninfa settlement. The garden is beautiful and we were introduced to the many different plants growing there. All in all a very pleasant and instructive experience, enhanced by our knowledgeable and attentive guide.

Jeanette was very approachable and translated clearly what the local castle guide at Sermoneta said. We all had a brilliant time and the gardens were amazing. A complete jewel!!

A wonderful full day of adventures with fantastic a guide and driver. We were lavished with very kind, personal attention. The first stop was the Garden of Ninfa. It was beautiful - flowers, meadows, ponds, medieval ruins, a clear pristine river. Very picturesque! After the garden we went on to town of Sermoneta with its huge medieval castle. We visited parts of the ancient stone town, followed by a truly scrumptious multi-course lunch with all the trimmings - absolutely delicious! After lunch we walked up to the huge castle and took a guided tour. The castle is fully intact with lots of interesting areas to explore. In all, this was an excellent tour! We enjoyed it thoroughly and highly recommend it! Thank you so very much to our guide and driver for a wonderful experience!!!

A personal-feeling tour with helpful and knowledgeable guides, a very good lunch at an agritourismo, and a fabulous visit to the Garden of Ninfa, which is not easy to get to. I highly recommend this tour, and it's wonderful guides.
