Maria was an outstanding tour guide for our 3-hour Colosseum and Roman Forum tour. She was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so many fascinating historical details that brought these incredible sites to life.
She was patient with our group, answered every question thoroughly, and had such a warm, charismatic personality that kept everyone engaged from start to finish. You can tell she is passionate about history and genuinely enjoys what she does.
We’re so glad we decided to book a guided tour, and even happier that Maria was our guide. She made our visit so much more meaningful and memorable. We highly recommend requesting Maria if you have the chance!

Viator is a spurious operator who does not process ticket purchases for tourist attractions properly. They over charge as a third-party. I experienced firstly a cancellation and secondly a half processed booking for 2 adults & 1 child. When I arrived, they said I only had a booking for 2 adults. I had to buy the tickets again direct at Colesseum ticket office where they advised me children are free! I paid Viator €144! The actual tickets direct were only €18 for myself €2 for my 18-25 year old daughter and free for my 14 year old. Major communication gap on their part. Beyond disappointing. I intend on advising the Irish tourist board, the British tourist board and the US National Travel and Tourism Office.

The steps inside the colosseum are very steep and not good if you have mobility issues. There is a lift but it is not free. Plenty of toilets to use.

Alessandro was amazing! He was super knowledgeable and even though it was super crowded and hot, he made it fun! He included our kids in the tour and make it fun for them too.
Traci_S, Jul 2026
Our tour guide was awesome and animated. He did a great job keeping the tour together and knew his history about everything we saw. His information was spot on one of the best tours we’ve taken in Rome so far I would highly recommend this.

It was a great tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and asked us questions to keep us all engaged. Our kids are 15 and 17 years old. Both enjoyed the tour. Our tour was at 4:00 in the afternoon on one of the hottest days of summer. 2 separate members of the tour group had heat related issues on the tour. Our guide acted quickly and got the medical personnel needed to help. Our guide kept us in the shade as much as possible, and we stopped for water often. She handled it all like a professional. I would recommend this company to anyone going to Rome.

A lot of informations - profund knowledge. But less Interaktion with the visitors. In this crowd it should be more personal.

This tour exceeded my expectations. We booked mostly for the Colosseum but were wowed by the Forum and Palantine Hill. Our guide, Federico, was super knowledgeable and told us many things we had never heard about. Highly recommend this tour!

Easy to find the travel agent. Conveniently located near the Colosseum. Everything went smoothly. Enjoyed walking around the Colosseum and forum.

was very interesting and very well organized! we learned a lot and were able to understand the history behind all of the remains.
CHUCK_L, Jul 2026
I didn’t get to go because my name was incorrectly inputted into the ticket. This tour should indicate a very strict ID check so people don’t make the same mistake.
Ed_R, Jul 2026
It was definitely a worthwhile excursion, a walk through history. It was everything you would expect it to be.
Vic_S, Jul 2026
She is funny. it helps a lot. She has good knowledge but there could be more depth in the political struggles of the time with economical and social.
Victoria_B, Jul 2026
The columseum was amazing, the ruins are ok, but there are more interesting and free ruins around the city

Very good informative tour. Perfect amount of information and the tour guide was great—very knowledgeable I now know a lot more about the Coliseum!

We loved our Colosseum tour with George. He gave us so much history and many unique facts. It was horribly hot and George was cool, collected, and sprinkled in a bit of humor. He also gave us the best view of the Colosseum. Thanks George!

Lucy our guide was great, she knew all the short cuts, so much information and also kept us out of the scorching heat which was great.

A must see when in Rome. It is spectacular. Easily accessible via Bus. If you have never been, you must absolutely visit. My only advice is to avoid the summer months. Too hot and too many people.

An incredible amount of walking with this tour. So much so that combined with the heat, we only managed part of the tour. Or tour guide was knowledgeable, but he was not very good at taking stops in the shade and failed to allow the group to keep together. We dropped out on the third hill climb due overheating. We found our way out on our own to street level to go back to our hotel. No fault of the tour, but this might be something to consider in the future.

Our guide seemed a nice and kind person but was not inspiring with the history and insights. It was a particular hot day during the heatwave and our guide was understandably worried about the heat, water and toilet breaks. But this detracted from the insights I had hoped for in this once in a lifetime excursion through history. We even had to persuade our guide to take us to a brief visit to the forum floor. Great to see the sights but I will be back to try and get more insight.

The line up and queuing for getting signed in and getting the audio receiver could have been better organized with signage, which is why this is 4/5, not 5/5. Arrive early and plan for a line that may not be clear where it starts and ends. Once we got going, the tour and guide were excellent. The tour includes Palentine Hill, the Forum ruins and the Coliseum. It was an extremely hot day (100F°+), and occurred in the middle of the day 10 am-1 pm, but the guide did his best to find shade an point out locations for water at each stop. He was very knowledgeable and also tried to care for a couple of guests who struggled with the heat.
If you are not used to walking 10,000 a day or being out in the heat for a long period of time, you may not want this tour during hot summer days. I generally handle both, but climbing the stairs of the Coliseum almost did me in after 2+ hours standing in the heat. There is an elevator for those with health conditions in the Coliseum, but the tour as a whole is still long, hilly and very much in the sun on unlevel surfaces. This is as it should be historically, but I just warn of the challenge as we had tour mates who did not finish the tour.
This tour includes the first and second levels of the Coliseum, which was plenty for us, as it was very busy.
I would recommend this tour, understanding the issues getting checked in and getting tickets to start and the challenges of the tour if you have health and mobility issues, particularly in the summer months.

You should warn people, especially older/ less agile, that most of the paths in the forum and Palatine hill are large rocks. Some is cobble stone, but majority is large uneven flat stones. We were here in 2026 at the end of June and of course Europe was having record breaking heat wave. Best to come spring or fall, I guess. It was interesting, but coliseum was awesome and there is an elevator. It's supposed to be used by older and less agile persons, but I rode up with tweens and teens. All in all a good excursion. Angelo was great as my wife got overheated and had to go to first aid. She sent me on with the tour, but couldn't recover and was taken to first aid. We had just made it inside the arena when she called me, so I had to leave the tour. I let Angelo know and after he came and checked on her/us. He even tried to get a taxi for us, but they weren't answering! My wife recovered and we were able to slowly walk back to our hotel. Luckily staying at Kolbe hotel, just on the other side of the forum. Found a little Cafe and had spritz and antipasto and cold water to get us the final distance.

Alessandro was a wonderful tour guide. Very knowledgeable and passionate! The tour was great. I cannot imagine visiting the sites without all the historical background!
Rahnuma_A, Jun 2026
Very informative tour. Debra is an excellent tour guide -- knowledgable and caring . Our tour was during a heat wave. She made sure the group was in the shade, when possible. We also stopped frequently for water. We visited all the main areas on time. Highly recommended.
Paulina_S, Jun 2026
We had a great guide. Our guide was very well inform about every place in the coliseo. He did a great job trying to keep us in the shade when possible because the high temperatures in Rome.
We had a great time.
Laurie_M, Jun 2026
Letitia was an amazing guide. Very engaging and informative. Was wonderful to see such places, even though it was insanely hot in June.
Marymichelle_L, Jun 2026
The meeting place was easy to find. We had a wonderful guide! Excellent tour!! I highly recommend it.
Jeffrey_H, Jun 2026
What an amazing Tour. The Colosseum is just amazing to walk on and see, our Tour Guide was so special. The Roman Forum is so beautiful to see and to walk thru the same steps Agustus dis, was just wonderful.
Bernadette_M, Jun 2026
The tour was what we expected. Visiting the different sites with the audio guide was informational and traveling at our own pace was nice.
However, getting from the check in point to the actual entrance was a little confusing. We were early but it took us twenty minutes to find the right entrance. You are given directions at the check in station quickly and then walk to the entrance. There isn’t signage to direct you. We eventually realized we had to go through a metro passageway to get through to the opposite side of the street where the Coliseum entrance was located.

Very good, very hot dependent on time of year. Guide, George, was very knowledgable and made the experience.
