Basic self guided tour, but when we got to the Coloseum had trouble accessing our tickets. Called the tour company and a wonderful gentleman reassured me he’d send them direct via WhatsApp and we were through the checkpoint minutes later. At the end of the tour there’s a balcony that’s right on the arena floor level so glad we didn’t pay extra for a timed visit. MAKE SURE TO DOWNLOAD YOUR AUDIO GUIDE BEFORE YOU GET TO THE COLOSEUM! Not the tour company’s fault…but July in Italy is HOT! So, water, light clothes, and fans are your best friends!

There's too many people. It's very unenjoyable. It's very hot. You couldn't get in or out. It is just thousands of people. I would not recommend this

A must visit when in Rome - the pictures you see don’t do it justice! Make sure you get there on time and if you go in summer, go in the morning to beat the heat (or try to anyway).

The Colosseum is manically busy at all times of the day. Yes it’s a fantastic site but trying to see it in a comfortable relaxed way is impossible due to the numbers of people, despite their alleged number restrictions and strict time slots. Also the Viator tickets are the standard 18 euro tickets you should be able to buy direct from the colosseum website, however you can’t because the likes of Viator have bought them up and then sell them on for a 100% plus profit. The tickets did come through in time for the visit and all worked fine. But you do feel ripped off and then subjected to a cattle market crush inside the Colosseum. We didn’t stay overly long as it’s quite oppressive inside especially when hot. My advice is don’t bother and view it from the outside if you aren’t overly bothered about “going in”. Overall it wasn’t the great experience we hoped for, and the tickets are a rip off if bought via the online sellers other than the Colosseum.

Wasn’t able to make on time denied entry. Then they said we can still do forum and Palatine hill. Was denied entry they were closed. I asked for a refund due to not being able to com back… they weren’t specific about those details and I lost $130 dollars on my honeymoon I was really sad about it! Every other tour through them was great. This was just so frustrating and disappointing.

At the same time, we would like to clarify that Colosseum entry times are strictly fixed and regulated by the site authorities. As communicated prior to your visit, late arrivals cannot be accommodated. On the day of your tour, you arrived approximately 60 minutes after your scheduled entry time, and unfortunately, access was denied by the venue staff.
Our team did their best to offer an alternative by allowing you to still visit the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill; however, we understand this did not meet your expectations.

Early July, hot and crowded, but manageable.
Ticket line is quite long
If doing the full experience, do the arena before moving to the 2nd floor to avoid needing to backtrack.
We did the Forum the next morning to avoid the heat.

It’s self guided so you just walk about by yourself which is fine. Price is fair. If I am being honest, you wait your whole life to see the coliseum and then you get there is underwhelming, far too many people and they haven’t done enough to restore the structure. Most of the statues are missing and the staff are pretty rude.

The experience was horrible, instructions was not sufficient. We thought we had the ticket only to learn we only had vouchers. I had to call the company and had them sent over. Also the meeting point was inside the Colosseum which we could not have known because it wasn’t specified.

Do not book this excursion with a third party. Do it directly on the website. This booking said entry to the Colosseum when I got there I was denied access on the floor. I could only go upstairs. It was very frustrating because the booking didn’t mention any of this. How could you sell a ticket to the Colosseum without access to it. Very frustrating and it was also way overpriced. If you do it directly on the Colosseum‘s website it’s way cheaper.

Tour we booked was for arena access and audio guide we didn’t use the audio guide we just wanted to enjoy at our own pace. Listened to it before going to understand what we would be looking at. Which was great because service was spotty there which isn’t the tour operators fault. Received tickets 48 a few days before tour. I am happy with how it came out. We arrived 30 mins before tour ensure we were in the right place to avoid confusion. I will say If you can book directly with Coliseum I suggest that for a better price. But since they do sell out this was an amazing option to still be able to enjoy this experience.

Colusseum and Forum are incredibly interesting and well worth a visit.
However, Audio guide points are not in same order as the tour and it becomes very confusing trying to follow.
Might just be worthwhile playing it through before you go!
Otherwise, tickets for this tour arrived in good time and clear instructions received regarding entry points.

We were in the area more than an hour before purchased tour. After walking around with maps, we were never able to find tour start or join in any tour. Therefore is was a huge waist of money and a great disappointment to miss what was anticipated as a vacation highlight. No stars coming from us.

The colloseum is amazing and worth a visit but we felt overwhelmed with the amount of people there and it was just too busy for us, there's different ques depending on your ticket type which was confusing initially but staff are helpful, I think if we returned we'd probably book a small group tour

The Colosseum was a must-visit. However, it was already crowded at 10:00 am on a Sunday in late June. The tickets were sent via WhatsApp and email by Italytours, which was convenient. We paid 40 euros each for a ticket, which normally costs 20 euros each. The Forum and Palatine Hill were beautiful archeological sites, but with these tickets it was not possible to skip the line and we had to stand in a long queue in the heat. Although we were guaranteed a ticket with this option, the price was a bit high.

I didn't download the audioguide but it was worth it to pay a little extra to get the early timeslot we wanted to avoid the heat. It was good going round at our own pace rather than with a tour. We enjoyed the Rome and Troy exhibition.

The tickets provided are just the official tickets sold at double the price. No internet in the area to listen to the audioguide. Audioguide provided is also free of charge and same as signposted around the colosseum so not getting extra. It is better to buy from official website but was sold out at my time.
