Overview
Learn to surf on Waikiki Beach. Travel to the beach in an air-conditioned vehicle and then participate in a brief safety training to learn the basics of popping up and balancing before jumping in the water. Get 1-on-1 instruction and learn surfing essentials with a team of experienced teachers. This semi-private lesson includes the use of all gear, and the option to purchase professional photos, videos taken during the day, and surfing swag if you choose. Plus, book either a 1-hour or 2-hour session depending on your preference.

- Please come prepared for the lesson by wearing your bathing suit, bringing a towel, and making sure to apply sunscreen ahead of time.
- All of our written materials are also available in Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. We will do our best to accommodate, but cannot guarantee, Japanese, Korean, Spanish or Chinese speaking-instructors without enough advance notice.
- Complimentary transportation is available from select locations in Waikiki. Exact pick-up location and time will be emailed to you by the supplier. If you do not receive these details 24 hours prior to your lesson, please contact Ohana Surf Project.

Jaden was very fun and relaxed, which made us feel more at ease. We paddled a lot farther than I ever would’ve done on my own, which is a good thing. The entire time we were in the most beautiful turquoise water, it was amazing.

My 14 and 16 year old boys learned very quickly with this surf school. The price was well worth it. The instructors were kind, patient, and encouraging. My boys stood up quickly, so I know the training was great! Highly recommend!

Excellent communication prior to the pick up. We knew exactly what to expect and where we would be picked up. The driver was courteous and took us to their surf shop. From there they showed us a video to help us visualize the process. The instructors were all kind, encouraging and fun. We all got up after 1 try, some of us got up on the first try! Don't hesitate to use these guys, they are professionals. I saw 8 year olds get up, 20 year olds, 50 year olds and even one 65 year old all get up.

Even if you book out a semi-private session (we booked 2 instructors for 4 people), there’s a large group of participants and instructors surfing at the same time in the area, so it’s not as exclusive as you might want it to be. But the instructors were really helpful and encouraging. We had a great time learning the basics of surfing and riding the waves.

Awesome!! Could not recommend more :) Instructors were super friendly and encouraging and made the experience fun for all experience levels. They made sure we were able to catch as many waves as possible and gave constructive feedback after each wave. This was the highlight of our trip for sure. Shoutout to our teacher Mark for his encouragement and teaching, was great to surf with you!

Very nice lesson. You start as a group to explain the basic than there is one instructor per 2 people. But the other instructors on the water also the ones taking pictures are there to help and guide your safety. We had the instructor Tyler very good & calm. Very straight & clear instructions. Take 2 hours! As a beginner you need it.

This was our first time surfing, and mind you we are not strong swimmers. Kevin and his team worked so well together, they were so kind and funny and had us laughing the whole time. At no time did I feel unsafe and best part is I was able to ride 2 long waves almost all the way to shore! Highly recommend this to anyone wanting to learn learn how to surf!

We are a couple in our 50’s. We were not sure this was right for us. We are so glad we did it! It was amazing, so fun! The instructors make it way less physically draining then it would be doing it yourself. Both of us got up and we have great pictures to prove it!

Had originally tried to book surf lessons with another company but they wanted payment AND tips paid prior to our arrival to the Island. Not a good feel so cancelled. Searched reviews and found Ohana Surf on the Viator site (which I love).
We were a family of 4 adults. Booking and payment was super easy and communication prior to our arrival from Viator and Ohana was constant and easy to understand.
We were all impressed with the entire process from check/in (at the Marriott Hotel) all the way to checkout (review of pics and videos). Each group had a private instructor. We had (Andrew/aka Jacob) as well as a celebrity instructor (Marcus) for our party of 4. We made so many runs we were exhausted and ready to quit before our time was up. Not sure what took us so long but so glad our first time taking surf lessons was with Ohana Surf. Thanks Ohana! We are officially addicted to surfing.❤️

Me and my Wife did this. Had an Amazing morning. We are both not the strongest swimmer's and have never surfed before(both coming from the uk). Found the whole set up very good. I would suggest doing the 2 hour lessons because I think an hour is not long enough. We found the instructors very good and very patient with the whole group. We had Damien and Chelsea. Would reccomed to people.

This was an awesome experience! From communication before the event to the photos after, it was very smooth. Our Instructor, Mark, was the best! He was very attentive and wanted my husband and I to catch as many waves as possible during the 2 hours. If we got a little tired from paddling, he would help pull us out to the surf for the next wave. This day was definitely a highlight of our trip!

Great 2-hour surfing lesson in Waikiki! Keola was an awesome coach! They picked us up close to our hotel and the whole process of a quick safety video and then straight into the water to surf was very smooth.
