Top Oahu Surfing Lessons

Jon was a great instructor! We had a group of 6 and he was great with everyone! I was the weak link but he still made sure I got a few great rides, even if I had to stay from my knees! Suzie made sure we had a great experience with the weather and water conditions!

We had an absolutely amazing experience. We have been dreaming of surfing at Waikiki for many years and the experience with the help of our instructors. Kevin and Harry was better than we could’ve imagined. We had two beginner surfers as well and both of them had an absolute blast and caught a whole bunch of waves. We’ve been talking about it constantly for the last 24 hours. Thank you so very much for making this experience so wonderful.

The entire team was absolutely awesome. We got plenty of time out on the water, even though the waves weren’t quite hitting. My seven-year-old rode tandem with an instructor and he had a wonderful time. My 10-year-old, my wife, and I all got to catch plenty of waves and had a great time. The team was organized, friendly and amazing they took GoPro video of all of us surfing, and the footage was exceptional. Nice long rides, and they provided trash guards and water shoes. I can’t recommend them enough.

I had never been surfing before, and Travis was a great surf instructor! He was really helpful with giving me an overview before getting into the water and on the board. And once we were in the water, he helped me paddle out and spotted waves that I could surf. Was able to get on the board every time. Would highly recommend!

Nicely situated in Waikik this is a great time learning to surf. The instructor teaches you how to position, paddle, and stand on the board. More importantly sets you with the best waves for your initial trials. I was able to stand quickly and on my third trial rode the wave all the way to the beach. Basic surfing mechanics is easy but nuanced. Having the instructor right there personally correcting your form is very helpful. Highly recommended. Prefer over the group class. There was one right next to us. They didn’t have half the fun I had. Saw several turtles right by my board too. Awesome day!

Tommy was a great instructor for my 10yo son’s private surfing lesson! This was his second time surfing in Hawai’i (first time he was 7yo) and Tommy was a patient and supportive, giving my son encouragement and tips to catch the waves. He also listened to his needs - when my son got too cold he brought him in and was able to provide some bandages as my son got a few scrapes on his foot from the reef (you may want to wear reef walkers while surfing to avoid cuts). Gone Surfing was also fantastic- we had initially booked a Saturday 2pm lesson but due to high tide, there were no waves to ride so they rebooked us to the next day at 10am to ensure a good experience. They also had a photographer out on the waves and took some great shots (available for separate purchase), which I appreciated as I was unable to take pictures from the beach given how far out they were. The picture process was also easy - I received an email the evening of the lesson, was able to preview some images, and once the payment processed, I received a link and downloaded the images with a few clicks. I appreciate how easy the process was!

Aaron was a friendly instructor. Started promptly on time. Would definitely recommend. Even though surfing isn't a fit for my son I would still recommend this 1 on 1 surf lesson. The beach was great and the small waves perfect for a beginner. There was also a restaurant that had the perfect seating along the beach to watch the lesson from. Not to mention the food was outstanding. Everyone was friendly and welcoming at check in. And Aaron was again a great instructor. Highly recommend!
