We offer courtesy pickup from Waikiki from our four standard pickup locations 10-45 minutes prior to your lesson time: (1) Ilikai Hotel (2) Romer Waikiki at the Ambassador Hotel (3) Don Ho Lane Van Depot (4) Hyatt Regency For customers staying at the Ala Moana Hotel, Hale Koa Hotel, Kahala Hotel and Resort, The Ritz Carlton or The Ka La'i Waikiki Beach, we may be able to arrange a special pickup closer to the hotel with a notification call or email at least 24 hours in advance. If either the customer or accompanying guest has a handicap or injury and needs to arrange a special pickup, please call or email us with 24 hours notice and we are more than happy to come directly to your hotel.

The Ohana Surf Center is located inside the Waikiki Beach Marriott Tour Bus/Uber entrance off of Paoakalani Ave. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to your lesson time. Your pick up or meet at instructions will be emailed to you directly from Ohana Surf Project at least 24 hours before your lesson time.

If any participants cannot swim, please book a private lesson.
If any participants have any medical conditions or injuries that we should be aware of please advise the staff ahead of time.
If you are prone to seasickness, you may want to take a remedy you are accustomed to using before the lesson (talk to your doctor for recommendations).
Please come prepared for the lesson by wearing your bathing suit, bringing a towel and making sure to apply sunscreen ahead of time.
All of our written materials are also available in Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. With at least 24 hours notice, we will do our best to accommodate Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese speaking-instructors.
Complimentary transportation is available from select locations in Waikiki.

Our experience began with a video demonstration. This was very helpful as my husband and I are both visual learners. Staff was very knowledgeable and assisted us whenever needed, no questions asked. We enjoyed the rush of surfing and felt there was no better way to experience Hawaii!

Best surf lesson!

Best 2hr group lesson surfing. After a quick instruction and safety briefing in the shop we boarded to surf school bus to the beach, it’s a short ride but appreciated! We had Mark as our instructor and well what a guy! He had us do some stretches on the beach and had us practice our technique before heading to the water. My husband managed to stand on every wave which was incredible! I struggled a little but Mark and the other guys out there were great by giving advice and guidance for the next waves. I managed to stand a couldn’t have enjoyed myself anymore! We even purchased the videos and photos after….well worth it for some amazing action shots we had no idea were being taken. Thank you so much Mark and the Ohana surf team, we had so much fun!! Laura & Dave B

My fiancee and I signed up for an hour lesson. It was great! We had non stop rides into waikiki beach with two surf guides and someone from shore taking our pictures as well. The pictures and videos were great and we had a great time. The safety presentation before was also helpful.

The instructors were nice and very experienced. I had never surfed before and they were good about adjusting their coaching to each student. They also let you go at your own pace—2 hours was a good amount of time but also very tiring. Highly recommend!!

I'd recommend you be a decent swimmer and be ready for a workout. Instructors are very welcoming and willing to work with you where you are. As opposed to other lessons, you won't be able to surf as much and I feel this one I had so many opportunities to do so I ran out of breath! Free hotel pickup and drop off is included as well as they provide you with board, rash guard, and shoes.

This was a great experience. It was very easy to learn and the team was very helpful and encouraging. One suggestion, is if you are prone to motion sickness, take Dramamine before your lesson. You would be surprised to know you can get sea sickness from surfing!

This might have been the most fun I had on my week in Hawaii. Sean, Troy and Nick are great teachers, they all bring something a little different in their teaching styles. They had me up riding a wave all the way out on my 7th attempt. Super super fun, cannot recommend it enough. You will fall in love with surfing after this.
