Big multi lingual group tour not for me

Annabel_O, Feb 2024
Locations visited were a good agenda however often too long at places eg 30 minutes at what is a quick picture stop. The guide spoke 3 languages this meant it took three times as long for each message and quite often just tuned out when got to English. Finally this is a big group tour so when you get to the Pena palace the ticket is included you have to live with the group and wait to get through each level. If you are doing Pena palace get your own ticket so you can move at your pace

The day was good, putting Sintra pena palace at the very end of the day makes it a long day with a lot of walking, plus the crowds or excessive at that time we didn’t get there till 430. I would recommend putting that first and working the way back.

Everything was super good. The tour guide amazing. I enjoyed it a lot. I would love to do it again. Thanks

Pena palace!

Rina_T, Nov 2019
Everything about this day trip was good except we would have liked half hour more at Pena Palace, which was very rushed and no free time at that location, which is the main reason for us to take this day trip,

Our day out in SIntra

Marna_R, Dec 2018
Right off the bat, we had the impression that we would be picked up just down the street from our hotel. Actually was a good 25 minute cab ride. The guide seemed pretty disinterested in anything beyond her script. Lunch was mediocre. Would have been better off finding our own. That said, the sights were most interesting

Sintra is stunning and a must-do for anyone visiting Portugal. Even though there was heavy rain, our guide did her best to make sure we enjoyed the Pena palace and the town of Sintra. The stop at Cabo de Roca is short which is all that is needed to see the wonderful view. Personally, I felt the stop in Cascais was unnecessary- there is not much to do in this town and it is not very different from Lisboa. Would recommend more time in Sintra to explore. Overall a solid experience!

Beautiful Sintra and side trips to Cascais and Cabo da Roca. This was a rather impersonal big bus tour. Pick up assistant Maria had to be asked her name and no apology for being late. Tour guide Lisa seemed to be there because she had to be.....no enthusiasm or real interest evident.

Excellent guide and lovely lunch in the small village. Despite heavy rain our guide and driver made sure we had an enjoyable day. I would recommend this tour for those who are less able to walk as the coach makes seeing Sintra so much easier as there are some very steep hills.

Rushed through pena palace. Lots of time in the bus. Enough time around cascais to look around.

This tour was not what we expected. We thought we were getting a small group and English speaking tour. However, we we cattled into a large bus with a tour guidealthough friendly was translating 4-5 languages throughout the tour. We were rushed and waiting in line a long time at he castle...shoulder to shoulder with many other tour groups. Not a tour we would recommend.

Excellent tour! The guide realy knew about history! I recommand this for adult, not children. We had taken with the lunch included but it is not worth it. It is a small buffet in a hotel and food wasn't that good.

Just ok... extremely hot and stuffy on the bus. We asked several times for more air, driver obliged, but had to ask again each time we got going again. Guide (Dorita) was very robotic. She did little to try to connect with the tour. She spoke French to me the whole trip... I'm American. Sinta is ok.

Paula T, May 2017
The tour and guide were great. Maria was sweet and knew how to handle a large group. We paid for the lunch included version. It was the worst food we had experienced. All the travelers with us agreed. We were served cold entrees, salad, plain ziti, and orange juice. No wine or other beverages. We have taken tours with lunch options and were served a decent edible lunch. I am working on a refund from viator.

I highly recommend this tour as it has comprehensive content .But above all, the service company was outstanding. In spite of some unforeseen delays (accident on highway) during hotel pick up, Jorge went out of his way to accommodate few of us that were affected. Very impressed with customer service

Peter S, Sep 2016
A good way to see the Pena Palace. Rather than have a lunch there was plenty of time to visit the National Palace during the break in Sintra. The return along the coast is an opportunity to see the coastline and the resorts. Our guide was very informative and helpful.

This tour of Sintra was fantastic - our tour guide was very informative and the whole tour ran very smoothly. We were able to explore the incredible Pena National Palace at a leisurely pace and then had a very nice lunch and free time in Sintra village. The weather in Sintra was a little misty and chilly so be prepared and dress accordingly. The drive back to Lisbon is quite lengthy however the sights in Cascais are a joy to behold and pass the time quickly. I would highly recommend this tour!

Giuseppe C, Jul 2016
No bathroom in the bus, you're given hardly any minutes in Cabo da Roca, and Cascais was 45 minutes. Why try to visit 3 spots in one day if you can't see any of it in a satisfying way?! Our tour guide was great - I don't remember her name, but she was the only good part of our trip.

The tour itself was great. The palace and sights were beautiful. Sintra was gorgeous. Our guide was very informative and spoke in english, french, and spanish. She was on schedule and on top of ensuring we were all having a good experience. The pick up was a little challenging because we waited at our pick up location for about 20 minutes before our driver showed up but it worked out fine. The tour dragged a little towards to end because of the several hotel drop offs of other people in the tour.

Jorge_M, Jun 2016
I never take tours but this time I took a risk and I was not disappointed at all. Guide provided explanations in different languages English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, food was good and in most of the places there was enough time to go around. Probably Cabo Roca would require additional 30 minutes to enjoy more the view and the place.

Carleton L, Jun 2016
My wife and I were very satisfied with this all-day tour. Pickup from the hotel Sheraton Lisboa was prompt although the ultimate departure time was later than scheduled. The hotel pickup is just transportation to the bus station which is really just a collection of buses in a pleasant tree-lined street not far from the Sheraton. We did finally leave but there was an accident causing traffic backup so we were rather late arriving at the palace, obviously not the fault of the tour. This tour visited the main sites you want to see, Sintra, Pena Palace, Cascais, Cabo de Roca. The tour guide was quite good and did her best to accommodate everyone. We spent about 2 hours in the town of Sintra, which is where the included lunch is served. My wife and I chose not to do the included lunch and I was very happy for that! There are tons of little pastry shops and restaurants where you can get sandwiches and other food very reasonably, and spend more time exploring. The one complaint I have is that we didn't have time to explore the gardens around Pena Palace, which are supposed to be amazing. Other than that, highly recommended! Note that this tour was provided by the Gray Line service which does a bunch of bus tours and hop-on/hop-off bus services. We used Gray Line for 2 hop-on/hop-off city tours where we just stayed on the bus for the full circuit and that worked well. However, I DO NOT recommend using hop-on/hop-off for the longer trips e.g. to Cascais. My poor wife waited an hour and 45 minutes for the bus to return on the Cascais line. The problem is that the hop-on/hop-off buses do not stick to a schedule so you have no idea when they are coming. However, they're fine if you stay on for the shorter circuits, and the guided day-trip not a hop-on/hop-off was great. I also highly recommend Uber, outstanding service in and around Lisbon all week.

This trip was very exhilarating. The places visitied - Sintra, Cascais and Cabo de Roco - were absolutely delightful. Our guide explained everything very clearly and patiently clarified questions asked. The places are absolutely picturesque!

We are glad we selected this extensive tour of Sintra and neighboring beach areas, including lunch. We booked it in advance from our computer in the U.S. and the contact information was all very clear and happened without any problems, with pick-up and drop-off at our hotel. We enjoyed the free time we had as well as the tour information from the guide. It was a day well-spent and a good value.
