Private Shore Excursion from Lisbon port to Sintra and Pena Palace

Be prepared to do a lot of walking and climbing steep streets and walkways to view the gardens and palace. Amazing views and lush gardens. Our guide was helpful and allowed adequate time to shop in Sintra and enjoy some local fare .. pastries, enjoyable lunch, and port tasting.

Sintra - A Day at the Palaces!

Picta Travel that we were connected with thru Viator was incredible at communicating and responding to questions before our trip. Lourenço was our guide for the day. It started with some brief rain and he showed up with umbrellas, but we quickly ditched those. Sintra had cool temperatures most of the morning. We had pre-planned our day with Picta Travel and had chosen Sintra (seeing the Nat'l Palace (outside only), Quinta de Regaleira (inside, gardens, well, and chapel for the morning. Lourenço provided a great overview and history and got us where we needed with his recommended sights to see. He arranged lunch at a great local restaurant for our group (at our expense). He allowed 30 Minutes to shop afterwards because we wanted to. Afterwards, he drove us to Pena Palace and had already purchased the slip-the-line entry, allowing our group to enter quickly ahead of the crowds. Again, he stopped and shared stories and history about the Palace and took us to great photo places where he snapped photos of the 8 in our party and walked us thru the exterior, including the wall walk, which was great. Lourenço was the perfect blend of low stress and knowledge. We were on a cruise stop so he was very mindful of getting us back to the ship well ahead of time for departure. He was very friendly, approachable and in control. Highly recommend him as a guide.

We went on a tour in Lisbon, Portugal on April 27, 2026, with our guide, Joao (John). Not only did we learn fascinating history about Lisbon and visit some absolutely beautiful castles, but we were also fortunate to have such a kind and thoughtful guide. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and able to enjoy the experience. He truly did everything he could to make the day special. We genuinely loved every moment of the tour and highly recommend spending a day exploring Lisbon with him. Thank you, Again Linda & Leann
