Luke was wonderful, very knowledgeable, and personable. He seemed genuinely interested in the things he was presenting and I would recommend this tour to anyone that I now who is coming here and wanted to go on a ghost tour.
Scott_D, Jul 2026
We have done many gave yard / haunted tours, this guide was a poor storyteller which left us uninterested .
Although I only saw 2 or 3 on line ? there must be more a dozen or so walking ghost / grave tours in Charleston because we dodged at least 6 on this night. As we competed with other groups I felt It forced our guide to take us to the out of the way or secondary locations . I found myself listening to other guides as we passed them.

Simon was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We had a fantastic time! We loved the graveyard in particular.
CHRISTIN_H, Jun 2026
Jerry was very knowledgeable about the history and had good stories to tell. Started off a little slow but once we actually got started and going everyone was well engaged and interested.
James_B, Jun 2026
Jake was a great guide telling stories with passion. The tour was perfect length. The cemetery was old and spooky. Tour ended at dusk which was perfect.
Coby_J, Jun 2026
Jerry was awesome! Without his knowledge of Charleston and interesting ghost narratives, the tour would not have been the same.
Truly a must while enjoying the old city.

From start to finish, I would highly recommend this tour. After sitting on an airplane all day, it was lovely to walk around, listening to Simon’s stories, and learning about the history of Charleston. Walking through the cemetery was a special experience and Simon was so thoughtful as he described the spirits’ stories. We are so glad that we booked this tour. Simon was a wonderful story teller and really painted a picture of past for us.

Very good tour! Jerry, our guide, was friendly and was a great historian and storyteller! Enjoyed this tour very much!

This is not a “scary” ghost tour as much as a”spirit stories” tour with some poetry and history mixed in. Simon was a very enjoyable narrator with an amazing memory for the stories and poems. Best for the “true believer” but my skeptical husband and i thoroughly enjoyed it. If you take the nighttime tour, be sure to visit the Unitarian Cemetery during the day too— couldn’t see a lot of it at night (of course) but what we did see made me wish I could’ve seen the whole thing in daylight.

Liz the guide was very informative, answered everyone's questions, and had some great pictures of "ghosts".

Was expecting to have a few “chills” down the spine…but. Our guide “Jake” was knowledgeable but a little too scripted, almost mechanical, too much memorized lines vs. casually telling a story. More animated “ghost” story telling would have added a lot to the evening. More time in the “Philadelphia” alley would have been a benefit, actually walking down the ally. Unfortunately, too many other ghost tours ruin the intimacy of the tour. The Unitarian cemetery was the best part of the tour, more time spent there would have been nice…As a suggestion…if your tour is a “Moonless” night, take a small flashlight! To see the tombstones! They should provide flashlights, for some safety as well. Not a waste of time…definitely could have been better!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
We are glad you enjoyed the graveyard. Thank you for the recomendation of providing flashlights.
Robert_M, Apr 2026
Jerry is an excellent story teller. He really made the ghost stories come "alive." The walk was not too difficult or strenuous.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Yes! Jerry does make the stories come alive. We are very glad you enjoyed the tour.

Thank you for loving Simon! We are very glad you enjoyed his tour.
donna_M, Apr 2026
It is brief, very little historical information, and we even traveled through parking lots verses the historical streets to navigate locations. Tour guide gave info from a personal perspective.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
We apologize for the briefness of the tour as we do expect our guides to go the full 90 minutes. Thank you for your input and we will certainly look into this.
Amy_E, Apr 2026
I really enjoyed the ghost tour! Our tour guide, Jerry, was a wonderful storyteller and so captivating. It was interesting learning about the history of ghost sightings in various landmarks around the tour. From learning about the first female serial killer to Edgar Allen Poe's connection to Charleston, it was fascinating. I bought the book Ghosts of Charleston following the tour to learn more. I'd recommend this tour to anyone visiting Charleston.
Response from Host, Apr 2026

We did the 90 min ghost tour that left from Buxton Books store. Our tour guide, Simon, was so knowledgeable and sprinkled in some history on our tour. He showed us photos that previous guests captured and encouraged us to take photos in case we saw anything. We really enjoyed the tour, and the landmarks we went to. So happy we had Simon as our tour guide. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Charleston who is looking for something interesting and fun to do in the evening.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Excellent! Let us know if you captured anything interesting in your photos...

It’s a fun time! Did not see any ghosts but the stories the tour guide told gave goose bumps! I enjoyed it
Gina_Z, Nov 2025
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening on this ghost tour! Our guide, Simon, was excellent, providing a captivating and detailed recounting of ghost stories sourced from a local author. His knowledge and presentation truly made the historical lore come alive.
It’s important to note that this tour focuses more on local storytelling and history than outright frights—it wasn't spooky or scary, but the narrative quality was outstanding.
A practical tip: The route involves walking through several low-lit areas with uneven cobblestone streets and walkways. Be sure to wear appropriate, comfortable shoes, and keep an eye on your footing!
Highly recommended for anyone interested in Charleston's history and local legends.
