This is not really a “haunted tour” it’s really just a tour of a prison. The history of what happened there is interesting and the guide was good. Its not scary :)

Wish the tour was a little longer for the price. Our guide was fun and entertaining but we had a drunk girl approach our carriage and harass the guide about the horses being mistreated and kinda put a damper on the experience.

I went on this tour (07/02/2026; 9:00 PM) with my partner and our 13 year old daughter and it absolutely did not disappoint! Our tour guide Sarah was phenomenal! She was knowledgeable and witty. On the way home, I told my partner that I did not appreciate how he was constantly tugging at my mini backpack, only to find out that it was not him and was more than likely Lavinia’s presence. He admitted to feeling Animal’s presence as well and thought I was tugging at his shirt tail. We will definitely be back!

My family and I really loved this tour! Some of us believed going in while others didn’t, however Sarah (maybe Sara) was great at creating an unsettling atmosphere while also keeping it light and fun. I highly recommend to everyone.

Great experience, be prepared to get scared. Jack was a great story-teller! Would also love to give a shout out to the customer service team, I called in to see if I could be slotted at a different time due to personal time constraints and they were so understanding and accommodating.

A little pricey but It was alright, they don’t take you up stairs to the jail like they use too :/ but still has great history.

A little disappointed that you can’t tour the entire jail. We were lead to believe we would, but you only get to tour the basement with fake props. I was disappointed!

Sara was a great tour guide. The jail its self was super spooky. Wish they had the upper floors avil but it is what it is.

The tour guide was 10/10. He did a great job explaining the history of the jail including personal experiences. Is it worth $45 per person. No, because you walk in only 4 rooms and that is it. 95% of the items are replicas and to me it wasn’t worth $90. The guide was great and did a fantastic job.

What made this tour so amazing was our tour guide. It was like watching a scary movie. I would say this is a must see if you are in Charleston. The youngest one on the tour was probably 10 and the oldest early 60’s. Everyone enjoyed it and stayed close together in the dark 😂

Bruce Orr was an amazing tour guide! He had genuinely creepy personal stories which added to the experience! He was so knowledgeable and respectful of the history. This tour is so eerie and Bruce did a great job of capturing those feelings! Would 100% recommend if you are in Charleston!!

The curator of the tour did a great job, but because we were limited to a very small area of the jail and everything you saw was props, it felt very inauthentic. I was terribly disappointed.

Tour is incredibly spooky -- I wish we had gotten to see the upper floors! Something touched my hair while we were in there.... tour guide was pretty engaging and had lots of scary stories to share with the group. The videos and photo evidence were pretty compelling and added to the experience enormously. Thanks for an awesome Halloween!

We chose this tour because we read about the old jail and really wanted to see it. It is an impressive building but the narrative shared with us prior to entry really made this place scary. The walk through was very creepy because by then my mind was focused on all that had happened on those grounds. Walking through the jail was a walk through history. It was creepy for sure. At one point when we were in the dark room, my camera and flashlight would not work. It worked fine before and after but not in that room. On the way back to our hotel we mentioned we had take the tour and a local person shared their experience when he worked there doing renovations. He said no one he knew returned to work there and that he took a souvenir brick home with him. He said the house had so much negative energy and that people would just start fighting so he had to get rid of the brick. All was better afterwards. Sarah was our guide and she did awesome. She interjected humor and shared her experiences with us which is what really helped the mind start wandering. It was a good time. Y’all check it out and tell me what you think!
