The tour was outstanding, and we highly recommend it. Rachel provided wonderful descriptions of Charleston's history, key events that occurred over time, the architecture of buildings, and life in Charleston through various historical periods. Both she and Kay shared stories, lending insight and humor. This was a marvelous introduction to your lovely city.

The tour is a nice way to get a history of the city: war, art, food, vernacular, etc. Kay was our guide. She was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She was flexible to our needs given that we visited a site on the planned tour already. We recommend Kay if you are visiting Charleston.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Thanks Kelly! Yes, I like to keep my groups small so that I can customize the tours. I'm so glad you enjoyed walking with me and thank you for sharing your experience!

We had a wonderful time on our walk with Steve, who was a wealth of interesting history and information about Charleston. We enjoyed our walk down hidden alleys what we would have certainly missed on our own. Steve was super patient as we were accompanied by my elderly parents. We were attracted to this tour with its limit of 10 pp; we actually only had 6 in our group which was perfect.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Thanks Alice!! You’re too kind! Loved being with y’all and can’t wait to see you again soon!

Steve’s tour of Old Charleston was the highlight of our stay. He’s a “binyah,” and his lifelong knowledge of the area came out through his detailed stories as we visited many fascinating sites around the city. He also seems to know everyone, and lots of people we ran into clearly know him, too. Highly recommended!

Enjoyed our walking tour with Steve. Very informative and a good pace for the walk. The group was relatively small (13 people) and it was easy to stand near enough to hear him while he talked. It was a good mix of history, customs, architecture and folklore.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this! It really means a lot to us!And great being with y’all Denise, and hope to see you again!!

We had a wonderful walking tour with Steve Bailey. He is a wealth of knowledge about Charleston. It was only our group of 4 on the tour so we were able to fully engage with Steve. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Kay was the best! She knows the history of the city well and makes sure to add parts to the tour unique to your interest. If we visit again, I will be sure to book another tour with her.

Charleston SC is rich in history. It was a very hot and humid day, so we were lucky to be the only couple on the tour. We were met promptly by Steve Bailey at the City Hall; there we enjoyed the introduction to the city. Walking around the city, Steve gave us wonderful information about the history and importance of the city. We could not get that information if we were on our own. We learned so much and valued this tour. Thank you, Steve.

Russ was very informative and knew his Charleston history. Accommodating with adjusting the timing of the tour and our ship’s departure. Communication pre tour excellent. Wonderful way to experience our first trip to this beautiful city.
