We had the tour scheduled for 16 people but it ended up only being just my husband and I— our tour guide Mario was AMAZING. So personable, informative, and truly made it a wonderful experience. The catacombs were full of macabre history that allows you to go back in time. I could not recommend this enough!

Our guide, Daniel, was amazingly knowledgeable, articulate and humorous. We learned so much about Rome and the catacombs in a short period of time. We would very highly suggest going on this tour.

The tour felt very underwhelming. The guide seemed enthusiastic about the catacombs and sympathic, but the detail of explanations and the mid-German-language-knowledge were rather limited. It felt like the entire tour being approx. 1.5 hours and containing around 45 minutes (both ways) of transport by car to/from the catacombs, and the rest was just going a bit through some corridors in the catacombs itself. For us, unfortunately rather underwhelming.

The transfer takes 15 minutes max to get there and 15 mins to come back, and then the tour is around 1 hour once you get to the Catacombs (due to safety reasons, and to avoid overcrowding).

We were lucky enough to be the only 3 English-speaking tourists, so we got our own personal guide to take us thru the catacombs. He is an extremely smart man with endless knowledge and he was great at adding in some humor with his delivery. The tour was an hour but it went by so quickly. The tunnels underground is a must-see!

We arrived at our meeting point early, which was just up from the Colosseum, and waited for our transfer to the site. A lady came to collect us and put us in a taxi to the Catacombs. There, we were met by our tour guide Daniel. Thankfully, we were the only ones on the tour so as party of four, we made our way below ground level. It's worth noting that photographs and videos are forbidden in the catacombs.
Daniel was very thorough and knowledgeable, and more than happy to answer any questions we had. The history of the catacombs is absolutely fascinating and I thoroughly recommend this experience for any history fans. It offers a great insight into ancient funerary practices and early Christianity.
The catacombs are narrow in places and I imagine it would be rather uncomfortable in a big group, or difficult to hear/see what we were being shown. We were extremely lucky that the site was relatively quiet for our mid morning visit but large groups were arriving as were leaving.
On a separate note, a previous trip to Rome included a visit to Basilica di San Clemente which is close to the pick up/drop off point. This is also an amazing must see!! Although at the time, we did it without a tour guide which I regret. Our guide Daniel explained he also provides tours there so absolutely give it a go! You could easily accommodate both on the same day.

Very interesting tour. We booked the small group tour and it ended up just being the two of us. We very much appreciated that the tour operator did not cancel!
The guide was wonderful. Very knowledgeable. The catacombs are definitely worth seeing. FYI - no photos are allowed in the catacombs.

I bought this tour by mistake and wanted the combined tour of catacombs and crypts. I tried to cancel but they would not let me get any kind of a refund. Finding out that when you get to the catacombs they just give you a ticket and let you go with a guide there lets me know they really had no cost involved and could have given me some kind of a refund - even if it was just a partial refund. Sad that no one can work with customers and have decent customer service anymore.

we would like to clarify that you booked a tour of the Roman Catacombs of Domitilla.
We called you as you were not at the meeting point, and you mentioned being in a completely different area.
Our tour includes a GUIDED visit of the Catacombs (with a live tour guide) and a transfer to-from the meeting point, so it is not true what we give you a ticket - that happens only if you go by yourself, without a tour.
Again, we are sorry to hear that you meant to book a different activity, however everything ran regularly during our tour.

We had an excellent time on this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable, funny, and happy to answer any questions. The catacombs were spooky, and so fun. The whole experience (including transportation) was just about 2 hours, which was just the right amount of time. I highly recommend it!

Temperature below ground is a comfortable 18 degrees, no jacket necessary. We had limited time so the express tour was ideal. Our guide Mario was excellent, very knowledgeable and good sense of humour

To be honest, the only reason why I’m giving them 2 stars is because of our guide Gabrielle, he is absolutely wonderful! The experience was terrible! First, the meeting place was changed and they sent a message to me that i haven't received because i was traveling, we arrived in time ti the place and know on the house number provided and people inside said they are not a touring company, very sketchy and weird, after several attempts to contact the tour company they sent me a message they were parked in a different place and someone will pick us, fine, we were transported in a van with a driver that honestly though he was in the F1 and drive terribly and was reckless! we were seriously scared and he could not care less! children in that car and he was about to hit other cars several times! I'm sorry guys bit if you don't like tourist then so yourself a favor and work in a different line of work

Good morning, we would like to clarify some points.
Some days before your tour, you were sent a message which mentioned the change of the meeting point (with clear instructions for the new one), to which you responded with "Ok, thanks".
Having received your answer, we thought that you had understood that we would meet at a different location.
However, on the day of the tour, we tried calling you and texted you asking if you needed help finding us, to which you responded saying that you were at the other meeting point. You proceeded to say that you did not receive any message about the change because you were travelling, but we did receive the response on your end... either way, our staff went to the previous meeting point just to pick you up.
We always wish to make our customers' experiences smooth and enjoyable. We are really sorry to hear that there was some confusion.
We appreciate the nice comment about the guide Gabriele, and we apologise for the inconveniences that the changes in the meeting location might have caused.
As per the driver, we will communicate with them to make sure that this won't happen again.

Our guide, Mario, was so funny and engaging! We had a small window to see the catacombs before our evening flight and this tour worked perfectly for us to get a taste while not wearing out our young kids. The small group size and included transfer were a welcome break to the crowds of tourists everywhere! A great experience!
