Meet directly at the Vicus Caprarius underground archaeological site, just steps from the Trevi Fountain, to redeem your ticket and begin your guided, small-group tour.
Enter the site with a guide and venture 30 feet (nine meters) below the streets of Rome to learn about the remains of a Roman villa and ancient cistern excavated just a few decades ago.
Admire a collection of ancient Roman artifacts unearthed when the site was discovered, such as precious polychrome marble coverings, the famous head of Alessandro Helios, a treasure trove of 800 coins, and the spatheia, special African amphorae for transporting oil. Discover how the Romans managed water thousands of years ago and why the area is called the "City of Water."
Upon exit, end your tour at the iconic fountain.

A quick extra experience right near the fountain. It’s a small tour but has a lot of information. It allows you to have tickets already secure for the lower section of the fountain.

The Trevi Fountain is beautiful, but please be aware that that section of the experience is entirely self-led. They just give you your tickets and send you towards the entrance.

The sights were incredible, but our tour guide was long winded and couldn’t read the room. It was 1.5 hours longer than scheduled, spent more time outside talking than inside at the actual art. There was a definite language and culture gap. He was very knowledgeable, but would not attend a tour by our guide again.

Was so excited for this tour to hear all about the area of trevi fountain. And see the underground area and water.
Guide didnt tell much about trevi fountain and area. Went into detail about the underground area we went to, however the underground area is very small.
I paid 70 euro for 2 of us for this tour. However I wish I did the self guide of the underground area which tickets were 4 euro each.... felt this tour was grossly over charged. And be aware its not a tour of the trevi fountain

Not worth the price or the time. The underground is only 1 area that gets very crowded. You can see all there is to see on the website. And Trevi fountain is soooo crowded hard to see or hear anything. Save your money.

We took the Rome: Trevi Fountain District and Underground Domus Guided Tour through Viator, and our experience with Erika originally from Sweden was absolutely outstanding.
Erika is one of those rare guides who is not only exceptionally knowledgeable but also genuinely fun, engaging, and dynamic. Her depth of historical knowledge is impressive she clearly knows Rome inside and out but what truly sets her apart is how she brings the history to life. She doesn’t just recite facts; she tells stories, connects timelines effortlessly, and keeps everyone fully engaged from start to finish.
The underground Domus portion was fascinating, and Erika explained the layers of Roman history with clarity, enthusiasm, and humor. She made complex historical details easy to understand and exciting, which is no small feat given how dense Roman history can be. At no point did the tour feel rushed or overly scripted it felt personal, interactive, and thoughtfully paced.
Erika also created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it easy to ask questions and stay involved throughout the tour. Her energy was infectious, and by the end, it felt less like a formal tour and more like exploring Rome with an incredibly knowledgeable friend.
We have done guided tours all over the world, and Erika ranks among the very best guides we’ve ever had. If you’re considering this tour, do not hesitate Erika alone makes it worth it. This was one of the highlights of our time in Rome, and we would book another tour with her without question.
