Great tour. Guide was very knowledgeable and told us many intresting facts. She was informative yet kept everyone’s intrested
The underground experience was fascinating and our guide was friendly as well as informative. Tickets for the Fountain meant avoiding the queues and people appreciated being able to use them on another day.
I was outside Desel as instructed. Never saw a guide. I even went inside to ask the workers in there. I also called the operator and got no answer. Total waste of time.
Tour was so much fun! Tour guide was informative, friendly, easy to understand and funny!!! We would recommend this tour. After the tour was gelato by the Trevi Fountain and then got access to the fountain too
very interesting, lots of historical facts
our guide was very passionate and knowledgeable about the tour
Our guide Andrea was so very knowledgeable. She spoke excellent English, and with the headset we could hear every word.
Andea was enthusiastic and knowledgable. I would highly recommend her and the tour. So fascinating. And secondly, the no wait for Trevi fountain. Win! Win! And win - we had a gelato too.
So informative ,well paced and interesting. Helena was very knowledgable and kept a great pace, I loved doing the fountain on my own.
It was so amazing! I read that water wasnt allowed on this tour, but it wasnt true. Guide was fantastic!
Interesting to See, But Overpriced and Misleading
The site itself is interesting and certainly worth having a quick look around, and I do want to say that our guide was very knowledgeable and clearly knew the history well.
Unfortunately, though, we found the 45-minute guided tour far too long for what is actually a very small site. There simply isn’t enough to see to justify stretching the experience out for that length of time, and towards the end it really started to drag.
During our tour, several people who hadn't booked the guided experience came down, spent around 10 minutes looking around and then left. Having experienced the full tour, we honestly felt that 10–20 minutes would have been more than enough time to appreciate the site.
Our biggest disappointment was the way the experience appeared to be linked to the Trevi Fountain when booking. We went in expecting a much stronger connection to the fountain itself, but that really wasn't the case. We therefore felt that the description was somewhat misleading and created expectations that the actual experience didn't meet.
For the price we paid, we unfortunately didn't feel it represented particularly good value for money. A shorter tour at a considerably lower price would have felt much more appropriate.
It's interesting to see once, and our guide deserves credit for being knowledgeable, but we wouldn't pay to do it again. If you're visiting, I would recommend checking exactly what the experience includes before booking, particularly if you're expecting it to be directly connected to the Trevi Fountain.

We are sorry, however, that the duration of the visit and the value for money did not meet your expectations. The guided tour was designed to provide visitors with a historical and cultural insight into the site.

Andrea is a very knowledgeable guide who speaks excellent English, and has a knack for explaining complex things so the average Joe can understand them. She was pleasant and polite, never rushing us, and I learned a great deal about history! This was a first-rate experience and an intro to the wonders of the ancient civilization of Rome.

Naomi was the most amazing guide. She truly brought Rome to life for us through the most entertaining tour of history. I can’t believe the value of the experience especially somewhere cooler on a hot day in Rome. Then to have skip the line basically tickets to Trevi Fountain made our trip to Rome complete.
We didn’t have a ton of time with our cruise ship tour - even if we had I suggest we would have learned more in an hour with Naomi than any other tour we could pick. She’s exceptionally knowledgeable and tells the history in a way that is so entertaining. You won’t see Trevi Fountain the same way after this tour and that’s important. There is so much more to know about the brilliance that created the aqueducts — you will appreciate it so much more doing this first. And to top it all off she provided incredible details about the design of the fountain we would have missed. History and art come to life with Naomi - we cannot recommend this tour highly enough!!!
You can hear what Rebecca is saying but can’t always get through the crowd to see what she’s talking about. Still, better than just fighting the crowds outside to take a picture at the fountain.
Very good guide but only emailed one ticket for the Trevi Fountain instead if 3? Luckily they let us through but would been embarrassing if I had not argued 😳
This was a great tour. Carla was a fantastic tour guide and gave great explanations and context for the archaeological site. I think it would've been more difficult to understand what we were seeing without a tour guide, so I highly recommend booking this tour if you're interested in checking out the Vicus Caprarius. This was definitely my favourite guided tour of my trip!
This is very cool and unexpected history . It makes you realize we as humans were extremely smart back then maybe not so much now.
Great tour! Our guide was fun and informative. It was a nice reprieve from the summer heat and a wonderful opportunity to see a part of Rome that not everyone rushes off to see.
Erika was OUTSTANDING!!! Do not go to Trevi Fountain before this informative tour. Erika explained SO MUCH and made the water of Rome come alive!! Thank you Erika!

Dear David,
Thank you so much for your enthusiastic review! We are absolutely delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour and that the history of Rome’s underground waters truly came alive for you. Knowing that this experience added so much value before seeing the Trevi Fountain means the world to our team.
We look forward to welcoming you back for another unforgettable tour in Rome!

Roberta was friendly & knowledgeable. We happened to run into her later in the day & she was so helpful!!
This was a fascinating tour to the DOMUS under the fountain. The archaeology was super interesting, and the water works were fascinating. By having an early appointment, I was able to finally access the Trevi fountain, as was my friend who was with me. She lives in Italy in Perugia and had never been there. It was an excellent tour and I would recommend it.
Our tour guide, Erika, was very informative. We were glad we did the underground version as well as above.
The tour was very well organised and straightforward for the tickets for the trevi & icecream. Alessia was very knowledgeable and explained everything in interesting detail. The domus being underground was a welcome respite from the heat. And accessing the trevi afterwards was very quick and efficient
It’s a pretty interesting experience to go underground and learn about the water filtration system and that the same system implemented many years ago is still being used today. However, the guide that we had was what made the tour interesting. She was knowledgeable and explained everything in detail and with patience, if it were not for that, the tour itself would not have been as great.
This was very interesting to see. It is a still-working ancient Roman aquaduct. You should know that you have to stand during the entire tour, without walking very far.
If you've spent a lot of time in Rome and want to see something different, I recommend this. The tour guide was very good. It's just not a top sight to see in Rome.
Erika was very knowledgeable, energetic and passionate about Roman history and history in general. She made everyone feel welcome. I wish I had her as the Colosseum tour guide!
Erica was an excellent guide. This was a perfect 1 hr tour with just the right amount of interesting facts. If you are into archaeology and history, well worth the price.
The underground domus tour was amazing. But once we got to the trevi fountain they said our tickets were not valid for that and we had to pay to go in and see the fountain. Out ticket was supposed to include both, but they didn’t accept it. Disappointing.
Guide was extremely knowledgeable about the topic. Her delivery was well paced, interesting and entertaining.
Our guide Naomi was amazing! She gave a very detailed tour. You can tell she is passionate about her job! Our daughter said this was her favorite tour!
Obviously we booked for the Trevi Fountain but ended up on a surprising tour! The aqueduct's were a last minute tour we booked before our vacation! We decided it would be all worth it for the tickets/access to the front of the Trevi. But honestly learning about the history of Rome’s aqueduct’s was so so interesting, our guide was a very nice blond woman who definitely knew what she was talking about. It was very cool to see underground of the city with the different lasagna layers of Rome, and super cool to see the original ducts. We spent our time in Rome drinking/refilling our water bottles at the old public fountains so it was great to learn the history! And of course then there’s the gorgeous Trevi, it’s “just” a fountain but honestly it’s a work of art. Seeing it in person is nothing compared to the pictures, we also loved the “Lovers Fountain” off to side - great excursion overall!
