Itinerary
For the morning portion of your tour, meet your guide at Piazza Navona to begin your city highlights tour. Head for the Pantheon, the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world, and hear how it was built, and the stunning Trevi Fountain.
Take a break for lunch on your own, then meet your guide again. Follow your guide to the Colosseum to begin exploring the ancient world's epic sports arena. Listen as your guide describes the harrowing contests that took place there.
Head over to the Roman Forum, where you climb up a nearby overlook to get a peek inside instead of slogging through the crowds awaiting entrance. From your vantage point, you can see the Temple of the Vestal Virgins and the Senate House, and your guide helps you imagine how the forum functioned as the center of Rome's society two millennia ago.
Then board a vehicle and head to Vatican City. Enjoy skipping the lines and head inside for a curated tour of the Vatican's highlights, during which you see the Laocoön Group, the sculpture galleries, and the Raphael Rooms. End up in the Sistine Chapel, gazing upwards at Michelangelo's famous frescoes.

The tour was great. Anna, the guide, was excellent. Assisting chapel left a little to be desired. Seems like no one enforced the no talking rule. Otherwise everything was awesome.

This was well worth it. We saw every major site in Rome in one day, and our guide Valeria was so intelligent and gave us so much information. Exhausting, but definitely worth it.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE! My husband and I loved this tour and everything it had to offer! Go out and book this!

If you want to see much of Rome and learn a lot of history this is a great tour. Be prepared to walk , climb stairs and stand for a good duration of time.

This was a wonderful full day tour of several major sites in Rome including the Colosseum and Vatican. Our tour guide Erinca was amazing and so knowledgeable with all history and information! She was also helpful with extra information getting around Rome! I would book another with her!!!!

Our tour guide, olga, I believe was her name, was absolutely fantastic! She clearly knew her history and shared so many interesting details at every stop, along with extra information that made the experience even better. She spoke clearly, kept everyone engaged, and was very organized throughout the tour.
It was an extremely hot day with a lot of walking, but she kept a great pace and made sure everyone was comfortable while still giving us an amazing experience. I was incredibly happy with the tour and so thankful we had such a knowledgeable and professional guide.
If I could give 10 stars, I absolutely would! Highly recommend this tour.

It was a long day but great tour to see all the highlights of Rome. It was also great to get into the Vatican and Colosseum. Our guide Smaragada was great!
Christie_P, Jul 2026
Amazing— Olga was a wealth of knowledge and did a great job of balancing information with interest to keep both adults and kids interested. Her efficiency and attention to logistics was much appreciated as we maneuvered through the busy summer streets of Rome.
My only drawback would be to say that there were too many (18) in our group making it difficult to hear sometimes because of the distance and/or buildings between us all.

Sev did a great job. Excellent info for the day. We saw a lot in a short time with great history and information. Recommend.
Christina_R, Jun 2026
If it is hot weather the afternoon is extremely warm and there is quite a walk from the collesium to the coach to get to the Vatican.
I learnt so much and Rome is stunning but 36 degrees no air this is a hard trip

Literally a tour of Romes historical monuments. The travel guide was amazing. Forgot his name but he did the 06/18 tour. Very thorough, respectful, and understandable. Only recommendation is Prepare for the heat but definitely Worth the costs!
Vita_S, Jun 2026
Marco was a great guide. You will learn a lot of history pertaining to the ruins and Roman empire in general. Comfortable walking shoes, water bottle, business casual attire. May be hard to do with toddlers (have a stroller). Portable fan to keep cool. Hat to shade from sun. If you plan on taking video and/or pictures, a portable power pack to keep your unit charged. Be prepared to find a ride back after the tour ends.

We really enjoyed seeing Rome in a day with Andrea. He was knowledgeable and efficient. He was great at navigating the crowds and getting us where we needed to go. It was a lot of walking, but totally worth it for all we got to see. Would definitely recommend!

On the day before travelling, I've tried in several times to add my meeting point in viator application but the system was not worked properly, then I cannot apply it.After that I've tried to chat both to the local operator and agent to support on this issue, no response from local operator but got the response from the agent and inform me that she has already sent the email to inform about my new meeting point which she has suggested for me. But
I totally missed this travel infinally as the local operator informed me that I went to the wrong meeting point and cannot join the travelling and also cannot get any refund.

It's truly the best way to see as much as you can in 1 day. Lots of walking but you experience so much. Ilaria B is the best tour guide ever!

This was a great walking tour. It covered all that it said would happen. Our tour guide, RAF, did a great job and was very knowledgeable. RAF highly encouraged us to go inside St. Peter’s Basilica when the tour Vatican tour ended. We were tired, but entered the basilica and are so glad we did. Amazing.

We learned things we would not have known when we first visited the sites in Rome. This added a depth and value to every site

My wife and I recently took the Rome in a Day tour with Walks Italy, and it was an excellent experience for anyone wanting to see the highlights of Rome in a single day.
The tour lasted approximately 7.5 hours and covered many of Rome’s most iconic attractions. We started at Piazza Navona before continuing to the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. After a short lunch break near the Colosseum, we enjoyed a comprehensive tour of the Colosseum before heading to Vatican City to explore the Vatican Museums and walk through the breathtaking Sistine Chapel. The tour concluded at St. Peter’s Square, where we were free to continue exploring on our own.
A special thank you to our guide, Rah, who was knowledgeable, engaging, and did an excellent job keeping the group informed throughout the day.
One piece of advice for future guests: please arrive on time. Unfortunately, one group arrived nearly 30 minutes late, which affected the schedule for everyone. Rome traffic can be extremely busy, so I strongly recommend allowing at least 30 minutes for travel by taxi, regardless of the distance.
Overall, this tour is a fantastic introduction to Rome and provides an excellent overview of the city’s most important historical and cultural sites in just one day. I am giving it 4.5 stars out of 5, with the only deduction being the impact that late arrivals had on the day’s timeline. Otherwise, it was a wonderful experience that I would happily recommend to first-time visitors to Rome.

Marco was absolutely fantastic! Not knowing anything about Rome; he filled me with so much knowledge and understanding that it left a massive impression.. and me wanting to go back to Rome ASAP! If I wouldn’t have done a group tour; I wouldn’t have learned as much as I did. I don’t feel I would have enjoyed the sights as much. Be ready to walk. But at a comfortable pace.

There is a LOT of walking.
We were caught off guard when the tour ended in Vatican City and there was no transportation back to where we began. The description of the itinerary does not specifically say that the bus that brings you to the Vatican City part of the tour brings you back, they need to make it more clear that they don’t and that it’s a 55 minute walk or a complicated bus transportation in a foreign city or an expensive Uber back to where we were staying.
Steffanie_M, May 2026
EXCELLENT tour! Our tour guide was so knowledgeable! Everything was well planned and organized. Be prepared to walk all day—be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing!
Bill_F, May 2026
This was a great tour. Our guide was wonderful and provided lots of information on all of the sites. Loved the Trevi fountain, coliseum and Vatican museum. Only had one day in Rome and this was a great way to see everything.
Alicia_S, May 2026
We only had one day to see Rome and this tour hit all of the high points. Fast & furious but great info! Highly recommend!
Lester_O, May 2026
This was an excellent experience. The Tour Guide Michael, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We saw all of the main sites and understood the historic background. The time went by fast and it was well worth it. We were here for only 1 day so this was the way to go.
Nichole_T, May 2026
This tour was extremely disappointing due to poor communication and organization. The company changed both the time and meeting location, but only notified us about the time change—not the new meeting point. As a result, we missed the start of the tour entirely.
When we tried to fix the situation, it took nearly two hours on the phone to figure out where to meet the group, and by the time we joined, we had already missed the main highlight of the excursion—the Vatican and Sistine Chapel, which was the primary reason we booked.
Instead, we only got a partial experience, wandering the streets and seeing the Colosseum, which was not what we signed up for. It felt like a major letdown, especially given the cost and expectations.

Don't trust the viator app or messages.
I booked a $500 tour using Viator because I expected everything to be purchased, booked and ticketed in the Viator app. Instead, my ticket on the app was not updated with a change in the meeting site for my tour. Viator provided an email the day before my tour indicating a tour provider that I had never heard of. That email described the tour operator by 3 different names in the same email with links that took me to web pages I had never seen before, offering to sell me a variety of other tours. Many links took me to the Viator app displaying my tickets confirming my expected meeting site. I was at that site 40 minutes prior to the scheduled tour time and the tour operator was a "no show".
Tiffany_M, May 2026
They sent us the wrong meeting location and we were unable to go on our tour. Ruined our whole day. Waiting for a refund.
Response from Host, May 2026
Hi Tiffany,
We are sorry to hear that you were unable to join your tour. We understand how disappointing it is when travel plans are interrupted, especially for an experience covering so many of Rome's major landmarks.
Our records indicate that the meeting point information provided was consistent with the tour’s scheduled itinerary. Since our tours must adhere to strict entry times for the Vatican and Colosseum, we are unable to accommodate guests who do not arrive at the designated location by the check-in time.
Regarding your request for a refund, we recommend contacting the platform where you made your booking to discuss their specific cancellation and refund policies.
Kind Regards,
Gerard

Our guide was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable about Roman history and quite entertaining. He was ready to answer all questions and offer interesting anecdotes.
Kendra_H, May 2026
We got to see and do alot on this tour! We put on the miles! Our guide had so much knowledge and was passionate about sharing the history with us. Sometimes it was hard to hear him in the headset as the mic also picks up and the background noise. This is no fault of the guides in anyway.
