Marianna, Ricardo, and Julia did a great job keeping our group on schedule and together, no one was left behind! They were all very kind and helpful throughout the day. Marianna especially stood out as a knowledgeable and engaging guide. The only thing I wish had been included was access to the Vatican and Colosseum, we only stopped outside for photos, which felt like a missed opportunity on such a landmark-filled tour.

Whirlwind tour of Rome. We came from the port and only had 7 hours to spare including 1.5 hours each way for travel. We saw a LOT in four hours which was great and we really liked our tour guide. The bus was late for our morning pick up and the pick up was a little disorganized. We were concerned we would not make it back to the ship on time for a 5 o’clock on board time, but we did with plenty of time to spare.

Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your experience.
We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour and appreciated how much you were able to see in a short amount of time, as well as the work of your guide.
Regarding the morning pick-up, we would like to clarify that the bus was not late. The 30-minute window reserved for collecting participants is standard practice due to the size of the port and the geographical distribution of some cruise ship participants, which can sometimes cause slight adjustments. This collection time is planned carefully to ensure a smooth departure for everyone.
We are glad you made it back to your ship with plenty of time to spare and hope you have many more wonderful travel experiences ahead!

First, the tour was supposed to start at 9:30. We were shuttled from the ship to the drop off area from the Port. Look for 'someone' holding a sign. Could not find her anywhere. Had to call and she was outside the meeting area under the McDonald's sign. Then we ALL waited a 1/2 hour for a couple who went to the wrong place! And then they never showed up!!!! So the whole tour got delayed and the group had people from several ships leaving the port at different intervals. Finally, we left and had to go back in the gate area to get the bus. Then the bus driver seemed to be miffed at the delay as well. Finally, the bus driver was very distracted with his phone, answering personal calls and texts!!!!

We regret to hear about your disappointment, let me address all concerns raised:
1. We highly recommend paying closer attention to the provided pickup instructions, which clearly state that the meeting point is located OUTSIDE the cruise terminal, not inside where you were looking for the group. The tour coordinator and the bus were at the designated point as communicated to you.
2. The 30-minute pickup window is clearly mentioned in the Meeting & Pickup section of the tour description. If you prefer to depart earlier without waiting for fellow participants, we highly recommend booking private tours instead of shared ones.
3. All our drivers are fully licensed and authorized by the state to work with tourist groups. Giuseppe is no exception; he is a professional with 17 years of experience who adheres strictly to regulations, including not using his phone while driving.
4. According to the guide, you don’t speak Italian, which raises the question of how you recognized whether the driver was answering personal or business calls. Please note that when the bus is parked, drivers are allowed to use their phones, including for personal calls, before the tour starts.
5. It is common for us to have guests from different cruise ships on our tours. Fortunately, with 24 years of experience in this field, we are adept at planning the timing perfectly and guaranteeing a timely return to the ships.
6. According to GPS records, your bus departed and returned to the port on time, and the tour duration matched the description perfectly. This is why your refund request was denied by Viator.
Safe travels!

We arrived in Italy on a Norwegian cruise and booked our tour through Viator. Our experience in Rome was excellent. Although the city was very crowded and we couldn't avoid the usual tourist rush, we loved the entire experience. We enjoyed all the iconic sites we visited; both the Vatican and the Colosseum were impressive. I wish we had more free time to explore, but with the three-hour transfer to and from the port, we didn’t have that much time for Rome itself. Our guide, Mario, did an outstanding job; we loved his Italian charisma and sense of humor. Overall, it was a memorable and enjoyable experience that we highly recommend to anyone visiting by cruise ship.

Our tour from Civitavecchia to Rome was absolutely fantastic! Our guide, Mario, was incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly, speaking excellent English. We visited all the major sights, and the convenience of being picked up and dropped off at the cruise port made the day seamless. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore Rome efficiently and comfortably. Be prepared to walk a lot, so comfy shoes are highly recommended.

Rome is an amazing city, this tour simply isn’t long enough to cover the ground necessary to do it justice. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable but there wasn’t even time to take but a few photos pace was borderline jogging , list a couple because of crowds and over 20 people in our tour group, guide didn’t have flag or identifying item so we could keep track of her.

Thank you for your kind words about Rome and our guide. Honestly, we expected a higher rating given and hope that you may have chosen a 2-star rating by mistake. Nonetheless, let me address the concerns you raised:
1. Duration – We highly recommend referring this concern to your cruise line. For most ships visiting Civitavecchia, we are only allotted a 7-hour window for this tour, with 2-3 hours (depending on traffic) needed for round-trip transfers to and from Rome. This leaves us with 4-5 hours for the tour itself, which provides just a brief "tasting" of Rome's must-see attractions. We suggest that cruise lines extend the stay in Civitavecchia to at least 2 full days, similar to some other important ports.
2. Group Size – Please note that a group size of 20 people is considered small by travel industry standards, especially when compared to ship tour group sizes.
3. Crowds – Unfortunately, we cannot control the crowds, as Rome is the second most visited city in the EU after Paris, attracting an average of 8–10 million tourists annually.
4. Flags – Due to state regulations, licensed guides are not permitted to use flags or other large identifying items. This helps maintain the aesthetics of Rome's historic sites. Some unlicensed guides may use such items, but they risk fines if caught by tourist police. We work exclusively with fully licensed guides authorized by the state, who prefer to identify themselves with bright and stylish clothing items.
Wishing you enjoyable and safe travels!

The tour itself was great, with interesting sights and a knowledgeable guide. However, the organization left something to be desired. Departure took quite a while, causing some frustration. Additionally, frequent stops for bathroom breaks and shopping, requested by some participants, caused delays and made the experience less smooth for everyone else. Improving the coordination and streamlining the process could enhance the overall experience. The Tour guide was very knowledgeable
