Fantastic! I have never been to Rome, and I found the tour was a perfect size and very organized. Filippo, our guide, was very knowledgeable and funny! He kept us interested throughout the Vatican Museum tour. The St. Peter's Basilica was easy entry with the online ticket, and we spent a good portion of the day exploring that part of the city.

Our tour guide passed out...

Brooke_B, Jun 2026
Our tour guide passed out papers with information about the painting in the chapel to all the groups but ours. When I asked him for one he completely ignored me and said I could take photos in the chapel. The tour started very disorganized and we couldn’t hear hardly any instructions. Then the tour guide would give a ton of information at one spot and then say “oh I’ve talked too much” and then sped off to the next spot so he was hard to keep up with. I did a Vatican tour 2 years ago with a different company I found on Viator and had a way better experience.

Impressive museum and artwork

Jim_P, Jun 2026
Check in experience was smooth. Skip the line was great. Guide was very knowledgeable but seemed a little bit burned out- may have just been his personality.

Vatican tour

Maya_W, Jun 2026
Great experience. Lots of information on the tour. It was a little hard to hear the guide at times because the audio ear piece was not great and kind of big so I honestly didn’t hear a lot of what the guide was saying but overall it was still a good experience.

Our tour guide completely...

Eric_P, Jun 2026
Our tour guide completely rushed us through. It was crowded. However, the tour ended about an hour earlier than it was supposed to so we really had time to slow down a little bit. That was disappointing.

Vertical tour

This tour was very informative. Make sure you are prepared for a lot of walking and warm temperatures if you go in the summer. Our tour guide was extremely informative!!!

Tour Guide Simone

Joseph_C, Jun 2026
This tour sucked. I understand that the Vatican is an extremely busy tourist destination, but this company was unbelievably disorganized and the entire experience was chaotic. When we arrived, we spent a good 10 minutes standing around like idiots with absolutely no information about what was happening. Eventually we were handed the audio earpieces and told to wait until the rest of the group arrived. Then we met our tour guide, Simone. Right from the start, he was incredibly difficult to hear, even with the volume on the earpiece turned all the way up. To make matters worse, he had a habit of mumbling and practically chewing on his words, so even when you could hear him, you couldn't understand him. At one point, most of us had taken our earpieces out because it honestly just sounded like someone making gibberish noises into a microphone. The earpieces themselves were also awful. They constantly fell out and were impossible to keep in. Just a terrible system all around. The absolute worst part of the tour, however, was went we spent TWENTY MINUTES standing in front of a screen while Simone explained tiny details of the paintings in the Sistine Chapel. I felt like I was back in university listening to the world's most boring lecturer somehow make one of the greatest artistic masterpieces in history feel like a mandatory 8 a.m. class. Let me reiterate: we spent ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS to watch a man explain the Sistine Chapel by pointing at pictures of it on a giant tablet. I foolishly thought the rest of the tour was going to be better but it wasn't. There was absolutely no structure. We wandered around aimlessly while listening to a guide we couldn't understand. Instead of highlighting the incredible sculptures, artwork, and history around us, we seemed to spend an absurd amount of time looking at rugs. If I had known I was paying $1,000 to follow a random man around while he rushed past the things people had actually come to see, I would've stayed home and watched paint dry. It would've been more engaging. What made it even worse was Simone's attitude. He was snappy, impatient, and frankly rude. One woman in our group wanted to stop and take pictures, which should not be a controversial thing to do at one of the most famous places on Earth. Because Simone never stopped long enough for anyone to actually enjoy what we were looking at, everyone had to frantically snap photos while walking. She'd occasionally step a few feet away to get a better angle, and once Simone learned her name, it became his favourite word. "Julia! Where are you going, Julia?" "Julia!" "Julia!" Over and over again. I actually heard her quietly say, "Why does he keep calling my name? I'm not doing anything wrong." She wasn't. None of us were. Apparently the expectation was that we stand perfectly still while he was talking, then follow him around like obedient puppies whenever he wanted. At one point, my wife simply walked to the other side of a small roped-off mosaic so she could see better. She was still paying attention and was literally only a few feet away. Simone immediately scolded her and told her to stay with the group. She hadn't wandered off, she had just moved to the other side of a circle. It was bizarre. The man had serious control issues. The most impressive thing Simone accomplished that day was turning a place my family had been excited to visit for years into somewhere we couldn't wait to leave. Then came the end of the tour. Simone told us we were finally free to explore on our own. Almost everyone immediately left. Only one family of four stayed behind. Here's the unbelievable part. My family and I are Filipino. The family of four that stayed behind was also Filipino. Simone apparently decided that because we were the same race, we must all be together. We weren't. So when we started walking away, after already returning our earpieces, he actually got upset with us for "leaving the group." I'll let you draw your own conclusions as to why he assumed we were all together. If I had to do this tour again, I'd rather cut all the grass on my lawn with beard scissors. At least I'd have something to show for my time. This tour was an enormous waste of money, and I'm genuinely disappointed that my family spent over $1,000 on an experience that managed to make one of the most incredible places in the world feel boring.

Vatican Tour with Basilica entrance

Brian_B, Jun 2026
Price and experience well worth it. Smooth booking with no issues. The tour guide was informative and very sweet. Pace was just right.

Guide was very...

Gabriela_B, Jun 2026
Guide was very knowledgeable and shared good information however she was moving too fast and it was hard to take pictures of anything. Additionally, it was unclear that we would have to walk ourselves to the basilica and figure out where to go.

Worth having a guided tour.

Nicola_B, Jun 2026
Renata was an excellent guide. Very friendly and informative. Meeting point was easy to find and we were kept in the shade as much as possible which were appreciated.

Amazing Tour Guide

Nadia_S, Jun 2026
Flavia was an awesome tour guide. Possibly the best museum tour guide I've ever had. My husband and son generally don't like tours and they both loved Flavia and found the tour really interesting.

Not a good experience!!!

tom_s, Jun 2026
Too much to see. Too many people. Had to meet at a remote spot which was far from hotel. Didn’t know if we were at correct location. Would not recommend Viator for any trips to Rome and probably any international. Tour guide walked too fast and we got lost 1/2 way through tour

Fantastic

Marilyn_V, Jun 2026
Our guide was very knowledgeable! Unfortunately, we forgot her name. We underestimated how big the Vatican is. There’s so much to see. Pro tip, It’s very hot in the Vatican and outside the Basilica, so bring a fan and wear sunscreen!

Great tour!

Kellie_C, Jun 2026
Great tour! The guide was great and very knowledgeable. We had a great time and loved seeing the Sistine Chapel!

Good news bad news

Anne_H, Jun 2026
The good news is that this tour completely eliminated the chaos of visiting the Vatican Museums. There are countless lines, checkpoints, and crowds, and without a guide I honestly think the experience would have felt overwhelming. We didn’t wait in a single line. Our guide expertly navigated us through the fastest routes and checkpoints, and that benefit alone made the tour worth the cost. The bad news was that our guide’s accent was so strong that we struggled to understand much of what she was saying through the headset. She was extremely kind, knowledgeable, and clearly spoke English well, but unfortunately we missed a lot of the information because we simply couldn’t catch the words. We are active, middle-aged native English speakers with no hearing issues, We have done several other tours on our trip to Italy and our guides have all had thick Italian accents. This is the only one we struggled with. Overall, if your goal is to bypass the crowds and move efficiently through the Vatican Museums, this tour delivers. Just be aware that your experience may depend heavily on how easily you can understand your particular guide.

Amazing Guide

Julie_C, Jun 2026
Alex was so knowledgeable and is a captivating story teller. Our trip to the Vatican would have been so overwhelming without her as our guide.

Don’t visit the Vatican without a tour guide!

Cristina_S, Jun 2026
Amazing tour guide. She was so passionate and knowledgeable about everything. I appreciated her additional insights about the past. Very enjoyable experience.

Rome first timer!

Joshua_M, Jun 2026
An absolutely amazing way to see the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and Basilica. Skipped all the lines and had a wonderful guide who provided a lot of insight and humor. The Basilica is self-guided and you can take your time - we took the 8 am tour and had a 12 pm lunch reservation, so didn’t do it justice - could have spent another 1-2 hrs there, easily.

Just a fine tour

Ginger_L, Jun 2026
This tour was fine. That is it. Just fine. There wasn’t anything “wrong” with it but nothing remarkable either. The check in was easy enough but then you walk all around the Vatican before you actually meet the guide. She was very knowledgeable about art history so that was great but there was no life, no personality, no joy in the presentation. Again, not “bad” but not engaging either.

Good tour

Andrea_E, Jun 2026
Everything was great, meeting point easy , instruction very clear, friendly people, nice experience.

Great choice!!!

Mark_S, Jun 2026
Must do experience. They give you all you need. Sistine Chapel access was quick, easy, and a great tour guide. Then, St. Peter’s was amazing but that’s a visit you do on your own, which was fine. We were even a few minutes late but they waited for us, which we were grateful for.

Very disappointed!

Davina_L, Jun 2026
Disappointing. Vatican museum tour and guide were good. Didn’t like being dropped off without guide at Sistine Chapel and having to make our own way to the Basilica with no help. Guard at the chapel refused to let us out the correct door to get to Basilica because we were not with a guide. We basically had to make our own way and start the entry process all over. We paid for a tour and guide to avoid the long lines and hassle which did not happen. Do not take this tour if having a guide at the Sistine chapel and help getting through to the Basilica is important to you. This isn’t made clear in the description of the tour. We would have taken another tour had we known

Too long. And our guide...

Jerry_M, Jun 2026
Too long. And our guide did not go with us to Sistine chapel and church. No directions how to navigate on your own. Need to have more areas through museum for people to sit and rest.

Best tour guide Anna

Ruben_F, Jun 2026
The tour guide was a true expert on the Vatican Museums. New everything and was very passionate telling the facts with the histories around the many exhibitions we could appreciate. Very crowded but she managed to explain all and answer all questions very professional. Great explanation of the frescoes of Sistine Chappel. Great disappointment with Vivicos who promised they'll arrange my Basilica visit audio guide. At their office a rather rude young man told me that was impossible since they never arrange for audioguides for the Basilica part. As if i was lying. That ruined the Basilica visit for which so much was paid. Feel cheated for this part of the otherwise excellent guided tour of the Museums part.

Beautiful

Gina_K, Jun 2026
It was a beautiful place to see. Very hot in June. Knowledgeable guide. Sestine chapel was difficult to see if you have neck issues and can’t look up.

Great tour!

ERIC_V, Jun 2026
We arrived late and the tour rep was able to get us in with another group which was awesome. Tour was great and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. Definitely recommend. Plus skipping the line was huge.

To live it again and again

Fabian_C, Jun 2026
Marissa and Maria (the guide in Pompeii) were really kind and well prepared, thabks for your time, knowledge and patience

Lot of walking! Museums...

Philip_M, Jun 2026
Lot of walking! Museums are overwhelming. Our tour guide ( no name tag, said name fast and couldn’t hear it ) had heavy Italian accent and I got 40 per cent of her words, better than my three companions. She really shouldn’t do an English language tour….

Disappointed

Chirag_S, Jun 2026
While the tour was well-organized, we ran into two issues. One was that the headphones given didn’t want to stay in our ears. Secondly, the tour guide’s English was quite difficult to understand. He seemed enthusiastic but ultimately we were not able to learn much. Therefore I am unable to recommend the English version of this tour.

The tour was very well...

angelia_c, Jun 2026
The tour was very well organized and we enjoyed the beauty of the Vatican! A lot of standing and walking wear comfortable shoes!
