The driver was very good, stopping frequently to describe the scene, answer questions, and allow for photos. We saw a lot and rode in comfort. The only downside was the back seat didn’t face forward, and as there was no speaker system, only the person in the front seat could hear the commentary. Overall, we were pleased with the tour.

My “Comedy of Errors” Review of the Viator Rome Golf Cart Tour
Well… where do I begin?My Viator 5‑person “Rome 3‑Hour Private Golf Cart Tour with Pick Up and Drop Off Included” turned out to be less La Dolce Vita and more La Hot Mess Express.
First, I asked if we could pay to extend the tour by one hour so we wouldn’t be stranded before our Airbnb opened.
Viator said no, because they had tours “scheduled back‑to‑back.”
(That was the moment I should’ve canceled) Then came the road‑closure drama. Suddenly, starting on time was “impossible.”
We changed our pickup spot to Radical Storage on Via del Tritone.
At 11:59 AM, with no golf cart in sight, customer service switched to Italian. Then a random 10-12‑person tour cart pulled up. private, because we were alone, but we could not hear. The driver said he had a contact at Viator and would call them for us. And Viator had approved him to take us. After the tour started, it was pretty clean, no brunch stop, no bottle of water, no working sound system, no idea where we were really going. As the person who booked this, I blame myself for planning a golf cart tour after a red‑eye flight.
I should’ve asked the guide if we were stopping for brunch instead of waiting for it to magically appear.
I should’ve said, “Pull over, we need water.”
I should’ve asked for a list of stops to compare them to Viator iternary. after spending hours researching the history we were supposed to hear.
But honestly, I was so desperate to keep my family entertained and stay upbeat that I just hung on for dear life.
I spent the tour lost, thirsty, and confused
To say the experience was a disaster is an understatement.

The golf buggy was old and not particularly comfortable. There was no bottled water; I had to request this quite firmly. The driver was a lovely young guy with a positive attitude but the most horrendous body odour which meant we did everything we possibly could to stay far away from him which is counterintuitive when you want to learn about the sites. Sadly cannot recommend this tour or the company providing it.

This tour wasn’t informative and the tour guide did not take us to all the places we wanted to see. He said his friend told him the traffic was too much. We did the tour on a Sunday and he asked us if we want to do Colosseum last and it would not be a problem so we saved it for last and then the bar where we were supposed to get pizza and gelato was closed so we did not get anything to eat nor did we see the Trevi fountain or the bottom of the Spanish Steps. Not worth the price and it was cold and the plastic wrap on the golf cart was broken so we were still cold. Not a good tour at all.

Our tours are private and flexible, and the itinerary is always adapted together with the guests based on timing, traffic conditions, and preferences communicated during the tour. On that day, some central areas experienced unexpected congestion and temporary access limitations, which affected part of the route.
Regarding the food stop, unfortunately the local bar we usually collaborate with was unexpectedly closed, something outside of our control, but an alternative should certainly have been offered and for this we apologize.
As for the weather and the golf cart covers, unfortunately winter conditions in Rome can sometimes still be uncomfortable despite the protective covers installed on our vehicles. We nevertheless appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue improving our service.

If you were to see all of these places in a day walking, your feet would not be happy. Taking this tour our first day in Rome was the best decision we could have made. Enzo was informative and also a great guy. He was happy to tell us about the history of the places we visited (so much to see) and to stop for a drink along the way. My family and I would do this again if we are ever back in Rome. So much to see and such a great tour. Highly recommend!

We chose to take the golf cart tour on our last day in Rome in order to see a few of the sites that we hadn't made it to during our trip. Our tour guide was amenable to changing our itinerary, and allowed us to choose places that we wanted to see and skip the spots we had already visited. Our guide was very knowledgeable and had a lot to share at each stop.
Our difficulty was in the pickup. She was 30 minutes late, which was okay, and we knew that there could be some time variance with Rome's traffic, but we had a hard time communicating with our tour operator. We tried messaging through the Viator app and received no response. We called the company's number and it went to voicemail. We were finally able to text them through WhatsApp, but they couldn't give us any information other than she was running late, but they didn't know exactly where she was. We were never contacted about her delay by the company or the tour guide herself. She did arrive at 2pm (30 minutes late), and we completed our tour. She seemed rushed at the end, trying to finish us quickly to get to another tour after, but it was okay because we had seen all that we had asked to see.
One other note was that there were classic Spring Roman showers during our tour and it would have been nice to have a golf cart that had side protectors. Our guide's personal possessions flew out of the cart and my husband had to retrieve them while she was driving. And sideways rain flew in, completely soaking us. The rain was no fault of the tour company, but we noticed that most of the golf carts that we saw while we were out had plastic side flaps, which helped protect the guests. This is just a suggestion for upgrading the carts, especially when paying over $100 per person for an experience.

Tony was absolutely amazing. He took the time to pause throughout the tour and explain everything thoroughly, making the history feel incredibly engaging and easy to understand. This was my mother’s first time in Rome, and he was so thoughtful and patient — making sure she had plenty of time to take photos with both her camera and iPhone without ever making us feel rushed. His knowledge of Roman history was truly incredible. One thing we especially appreciated was how he would pull out his phone to show us pictures and visuals of what different sites looked like during the time periods he was describing. Our much awaited golf cart tour never happened. After waiting 45 minutes, and 3 phone calls, we cancelled the trip. Twice we were told driver was on his way and would be there in 5 minutes. On the 3 rd phone call we were told the driver has been at Bourghese gardens and had not moved nor had he answered his phone. We were never notified. Hopefully, I will be getting my promised payment refunded. The company could not accommodate us with another driver or golf cart. Very disappointed.

As explained during our phone conversation, unfortunately the driver assigned to your tour was involved in an accident while on the way to your pick-up location. For this reason, he was unable to proceed with the tour.
At the same time, due to the fact that all our vehicles and drivers were fully booked, we were unable to provide a replacement golf cart on such short notice. As soon as we were informed of the situation ourselves, we immediately offered either a rescheduled tour at a different time or a full 100% refund, and you chose the full refund option.
We sincerely apologize again for the inconvenience and disappointment caused. Unfortunately, unexpected situations such as accidents can occasionally happen, and in this case the information also reached us later than expected, preventing us from notifying you sooner. We did the 3hr private tour with our 2 and 4 year old. Valentino and Andre provided a child and booster seat for our tour which we requested during pre-booking. Valentino and Andre were both kind and professional. They took us around Rome and showed us many of the historical monuments. Keep in mind that you will not be able to see everything in Rome in 3hrs but you can request what you really want to see! Highly recommend seeing Rome from a local tour guide!

We were able to see more ruins and historical sites and much more information than the first time we visited Rome. The tour included a snack near the Colosseum which a great way to enjoy the food and the place more.
