Each traveler must present a valid passport or ID document that matches the name provided at the time of booking for successful entry to the Colosseum and Roman Forum.

Please note that for safety reasons the Colosseum can accommodate up to 3.000 people at once. This could lead to delays in access to the site, even for pre-booked visitors.
The activity can suffer 20/30 min variation due to organizational resons.
For security reasons all visitors and their luggage shall be screened.
To facilitate the security check, please insert any object (including mobile phone) in your bag/backpack or in the tray to be included in the X-ray.
Forbidden objects inside the Colosseum: bottles and glasses containers, alcoholic beverages and aerosols, large backpacks, camping sets, bulky bags and luggage / trolley.
Medium and small size backpacks can be taken inside the Colosseum, which will be X-ray checked, or opened and visually inspected by the Urbe Security Institute, responsible for the entrance inspection.
Please notice that the Colosseum Administration, which depends on the Ministry of Cultural Assets and Activities has the faculty to close the Colosseum, or parts of it, with or without notice, for events, strikes, heavy rain, or any other reason. In this case, we will offer an alternative itinerary as it seems fit and offer a partial refund

Transpostation to the Catacombs will be lead by a professional driver (not a guide).
In the Catacombs, temperature is about 60°F and the moisture content is high; please dress appropriately.
No one can visit the catacombs on their own, nor stray from their group along the route, nor cross the gates that delimit the paths open to the public.
It is forbidden to touch the exhibits along the visit path.
It is strictly forbidden to remove any object and/or material!
You are not allowed to eat inside the monuments! You can carry a water bottle.

Buyers Beware

Tour was supposed to be 5 hours only delivered 3 hours. Skipped 2 hours of activity in the middle. Viator blames the tour provider, the tour provider blames Viator for taking 35% of the fee. Meanwhile I paid $500 for 3 hours for a group tour. Other parties complained as well. Tour guide itself was great.

This review does not accurately reflect the experience provided. We would like to clarify the following points: * The tour finished earlier because there was no queue to enter the Colosseum. * There was also no traffic during the transfer to the Catacombs, which significantly reduced the travel time. * The guided Colosseum tour had only five participants, making it essentially a private experience rather than a standard group tour. * No activity was skipped: the entire advertised itinerary was completed. The duration may vary depending on queues, traffic, group size, and other logistical conditions. * Considering the very hot weather during these days, completing the entire itinerary more efficiently, with minimal waiting and very few participants, should have been considered an advantage rather than a reason for complaint. We are pleased that you found the guide excellent, but we do not understand the claim that “two hours of activity” were skipped when all the scheduled visits were provided.

Collesium and Catacombs are not to be missed

This was a very good trip and Stephania was a very good guide. She was very kind and knowledgeable. Only thing to keep in mind is the heat in August so make sure to take an early tour. We took at 9:30 tour and it was very hot by the end. We also enjoyed the catacomb tour. We would have loved the driver to point out some of the sites we passed by but understand he wasn’t a tour guide. He was very kind and a great driver.

Colluseum and catacomb tour

We originally booked the above and below the arena floor tour but the tour company had to cancel the tour 3-4 weeks before our trip so I booked this tour. We were pleased with the above ground tour as we got a lot of good history. We always had the catacombs on our list so this tour checked off two boxes. We were really happy with this tour as it got us to a cool place (not gonna lie) but exposed us to more of Rome’s engineering wonders! We also used the golf card transfer from the Colluseum to the catacombs and that was SO much fun zipping through the city …

Overall worth it

The tour itself is split into 2 distinctive parts. Both were excellent. The organisation need a bit of work to make it easy to identify where to meet. May using what 3 words? The catacombs initially was confusing as we got picked up by a driver who took as there. With no idea what to do next and the driver did not speak much English. Afterwards we had to guess where to go to it go to the car. The driver was very friendly though

Experience started off bad from get go, I scheduled my trip to start at 11:00 knowing I was flying in from California and arriving to Rome airport at 7:33. The day before the pre booked excursion I was notified that they changed me to the 9:30 start time. I was very rushed to make the meeting time. I barely had time to stop at my hotel to drop off my luggage. No time to change into something more comfortable to the heat, no time to purchase water etc. the description stated we would be traveling in an air conditioned van, that never happened. We walked from the meeting point in the heat. The guide was very good, maybe a little long winded for me since a lot of the explanations was while we were in direct sun. After the colosseum portion of the tour, which ended around 12:30, I was advised the next portion of the tour to the catacombs wouldn’t be till 2:30. The details of the description does not say that. I paid over $230 per person for me and my wife, and do not think it was worth the hassle and confusion. I had to speak to the staff to get them to take me to the remaining portion of my excursion and they reluctantly got someone to take us at 1:30, which was in a golf cart, not the air conditioned van I was promised in the description I originally signed up for.

Really great tour to amazing sites! Eva was our guide for the Colosseum and Forum. She was knowledgeable and engaging. It would’ve been nice though to have a few extra minutes just to “look around”. Paco was our driver to/from the Catacombs. The vehicle was a golf cart instead of air conditioned, but Paco was great…took us to drive by a couple “extra” sites that we definitely wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Obviously, the Colosseum, Forum and Catacombs were all spectacular. All in all, definitely recommend this tour!!

Tour of Rome

This tour is actually multiple tours combined. We first had the group tour of the Colosseum. There were 12 people in total. It was easy to find the meeting location and a short walk to the Colosseum. Being part of a group tour we were able to get into a shorter entry line. You still need to have a matching passport name and ticket, and go through a metal detector and bag screening. After the 2.5 hour tour, we then had 3 hours to wait until the 2nd part of the tour experience began for the visit to the Catacombs. The itinerary for this tour is confusing, there are two separate Catacombs listed, but you only go to one, and there are "pass by" locations listed but the driver does not point them out. There is no food provided on either tour. Overall, both tours were good and we'd do it again. The Colosseum tour guide was very knowledgeable.

Regarding the Catacombs, the tour description explains that the visit may take place at one of the listed Catacombs, depending on opening days, availability, and operational conditions. For this reason, guests visit either one Catacomb or the other, not both. The waiting time between the Colosseum tour and the Catacombs visit is intentionally scheduled to allow guests enough time to have lunch independently and to avoid the hottest hours of the day, especially during the summer season in Rome. The time changes and meeting point changes were a tad annoying esp because it didn’t change in the app just texted the difference or emailed but with limited service the emails were hard to check. Also the times were off it said 4 hours but it was 4 for the first half two more for the second . Other than that it was great and informative.

Great way to spend a day in Rome

The meeting point was in a great location. Easy to find a probably the only place in Rome that is not crowded. The tour guide, Daniel, was very informative and funny. I enjoyed the pace and the details that were provided. The 2nd part of the day, the Catacombs transfer and tour was very different. We had a Mercedes Van pick us up and was a very luxurious ride. The catacombs were not crowded and was cool but not so cold you needed a sweater. This was a great way to spend the day in Rome.

Good but felt rushed.

Good tour-it was the only tour I could find that did not cancel. Colosseum tickets are hard to get in high season. I’m glad we did this one because the Catacombs were very interesting. The guide at the Catacombs was from the Catacombs and it was about 20 people. The tours are at the top on the hour and you need to get in line, otherwise you’ll be standing there for another hour. Our guide at the Colosseum was okay. It felt rushed and we did not get to go on the colosseum floor. Our tour was the guides 3rd tour that day and she had one more after ours. It was busy and it was not even “high”season. I’d try to go November through March to avoid the massive crowds.

After the Colosseum tour, we meet back at the initial spot and a private car is waiting to take us to the Catacomb (I suppose the number of people going will depend on the size of the car you will see). Look closely for someone holding a sign with your name. The Catacomb tour was not entirely impressive; no photos and videos allowed in the catacombs.

My husband and I came on the tour for our honeymoon and it was amazing! We are both history and culture lovers and this tour really impressed us. We had a wonderful time and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable. One important note- there was a host the organization has at the meeting point to check everyone in, and he was a critical part of making everything smooth. His name is Bijenn, and he was absolutely amazing. We felt so comfortable during the check in and tour transfer from the colosseum to the catacombs. He was so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Him being there made all the difference for us. Instead of running around looking for what to do next like other companies may have you do, we had him to care for us! Thank you, Bijenn!
