We arrived at the appointed meeting place in plenty of time before our entry time. The tour operator had a line of about 20 people needing to exchange their vouchers for their Skip The Line tickets. They could not find about half of the guests vouchers. It took 40 minutes to get to our turn and we exchanged our vouchers and went on to enter the Castel Sant Angelo. There was never a line to buy tickets or enter this site so this “experience” cost us time and money.
As the tour operator had sent a text reminder about the ticket, I responded to them to say things were not working. They told me I was confused and that if I had arrived late, this was my problem.
My suggestion - if you are visiting and it’s not prime season, just show up, buy a ticket and enjoy without aggravation.
While visiting Rome we had about half a dozen either tours or skip-the-line tickets which all worked fine. Only the Castel Sant Angelo from Crown/Viator was a disaster. Maybe just don’t use those providers.

The guided audio did not work. The Castel was cool and there were several levels to explore. Recommend visiting but download a history of the Castel before visiting.

The audio guide was okay. The tour was okay. Pretty bland after seeing all the other amazing things in Rome. Not the guides fault at all, just wasn't our cup of tea.

don't waste your money! buy directly from the museum same day. we paid 3x what would have cost to buy directly from the museum and the audio did not work

Not sure why more people don’t talk about visiting here when in Rome. We did this without the audio guide on our last morning in Rome. It was the perfect way to end it. Beautiful views, great story and history. The skip the line ticket is easy to find and the line moves quickly. Would definitely recommend.

Getting the tickets was fast and efficient. You should download the app and ask the tour guide for access to download the audio tour. It takes awhile to download.

It might be easier to go to the castle and get in line than have to meet someone outside who have many people waiting for their tickets and audio. Bit of a confusing system which took longer than expected in the heat. The line was low when we were there so I don’t know if the lines are longer earlier. We did it at 5pm so we could watch the sun set after the tour as recommended by a friend. Definitely worth seeing and doing the self tour.

Skip the line entry and audio tour download (to a phone) to Castel Sant'Angelo. It was a interesting place to visit, with pictures, drawings and painting of the building over history as well as some old weapons on display. Just the building is interesting in its own right. You also get good views of Rome from the other side of the Tiber.

The Castel was amazing and the exhibits within it were very enlightening. We didn’t realize it was an audio guide download when we arrived and while we downloaded the app, we just didn’t have the battery life left on our phones or our headphones to provide a better experience on the tour. If you choose to do this tour, bring along your cell phone headsets and make sure you have significant battery life. Also, don’t close the app or you will not be able to redownload the information. I think a guided tour would have been better.
