This is a superb museum and one I highly recommend to people especially for its artwork but also for its tight control and flow of patrons. Quite unlike Uffizi in Florence where one can hardly enjoy the art anymore. Matteo was a gem of an Art Historian and made the appreciation for what we were seeing that much more rich and enjoyable. I will go back again to see more.

Excellent tour of the Borghese. Our guide Agnese combined all of the necessary art historical facts with close, thoughtful "readings" of key sculptures and paintings plus revealing stories of the artists and their patrons. I especially appreciated her sensitive approach to the great and troubled Caravaggio. I am new to understanding art and would have been lost here on my own. I feel like I learned a lot from Agnese. That is the greatest compliment that I can give to a teacher, and what is a good guide but a good teacher?

The app used for the oral descriptions did not work well. It was very difficult to hear and kept shutting off. There is no tour guide.

This tour was full of information provided by a very knowledgeable and passionate guide. We learned so much about the art history of the Borghese family and Italy. It was easy to meet with the tour operator outside the museum and they provide you with a headset for enhanced listening.

Wonderful museum. The statue “ The Rape of Proserpina” was stunning as was “Apollo and Daphne”. There was so much to see but it wasn’t too big! Perfect for a quiet afternoon.

Don’t miss!!! Highly recommend!!! We went on the Borghese Gallery guided tour this weekend and it was the highlight of our time in Rome.
Our guide, Matthia Santandrea, was phenomenal! His enthusiasm, expertise and passionate storytelling is next level!! We loved learning about the artists and masterpieces in a small intimate setting. Mattia brought these works to life by explaining the symbolism, techniques, and historical context in a way that was engaging and easy to follow.
It’s very hard to get tickets since the Borghese Gallery limits the amount of visitors. The timed entry and small group format kept the experience relaxed and uncrowded, allowing us to truly enjoy the gallery without feeling rushed.
Book the tour!! It transforms a beautiful museum visit into an unforgettable experience and is well worth the cost.
Also, make time to see the beautiful gardens. A wonderful respite from the Roman crowds!!

The Borghese Gallery is filled with so much art, and with such important pieces. All visits are timed and limited to only two hours, but you could never see it all in that time. So a guide is important-a good guide will curate a visit in 2 hours that allows the visitors to see the most critical pieces. Our guide was Irene and she did more than that. An art historian, she explained the important pieces, put the works and their artists and the collector in context, and didn’t merely explain the pieces, but she conveyed her excitement about them to us. I e been to the Borghese previously, but this was my husband’s first visit. However, I felt like I was seeing the gallery for the first time, because I learned new information and saw new details that only a good guide can point out.

I’m so happy we chose the guided tour in English. I saw others just doing audio tour on their phones. Our time with Agnes was great. Her animation and her story telling were fantastic. She had a clear plan to take us through the gallery, and she was very knowledgeable.

Fantastic tour with interesting information. Our guide was very knowledgeable, but didn't overwhelm us with too much info. He didn't talk too fast, and presented the info in a clear and interesting way. I strongly recommend a guide, as you'll miss so much of you try to do it on your own, or even of you use an audio guide. He pointed out very specific spots on some of the sculptures that you're sure to otherwise miss.

The museum was much better with a guide. The stories behind the art and the history of how it was collected added so much to the experience. There was no waiting in line. Everything was presented English. It was the difference between seeing amazing works of art and fully experiencing and appreciating them.

We booked just tickets and not a guided tour. We tried to book our own tickets directly through the Borghese, but they were sold out. This was essentially a third party reseller so we were able to get tickets at the last minute to see the museum. We were worried it might have been a scam, but it wasn’t! The logistics were smooth—the woman was exactly where the description said she would be, she was super helpful and nice and made sure to tell me where to go and what I’d need. She had a QR for an audio guide we could download—it was a little confusing and hard to use, and the few descriptions we did use told more about the story the art was depicting than about the artist or the significance of the story of the art in the context of the artist’s time and politics of the Borgheses—so we didn’t end up using it. Ultimately, this was a significantly marked up ticket to the museum—but my partner really wanted to see the museum, so we were glad to have this option and that the logistics were smooth.

Our tour guide was wonderful (forgot his name but he was brilliant)! Provided some very colorful background to the amazing works in the Galleria. Would love if they gave you a bit more time with the art, but I appreciate how much less crowded it is than the Vatican, so I'll live with it. Highly recommend these tours if you're looking for a fun way to experience the best of Bernini & Caravaggio.
