Such a lot to see in the time given. Palantine and Forum should not be missed and walk to the top of Palantine for great views. Our guide Patricia was very knowledgeable and we got more out the experience with a guide than we would on our own. One thing to mention is the directions on the google link take you to the upper area of the metro and the meeting point was on the street level......we almost missed the tour because of it despite using the link provided by viator. Having not been there before we didn't realise the significant of the upper and lower level. An experience not to be missed.

Our guide Christine was amazing. I think she probably lived in Ancient Rome. Had we gone to Colosseum on our own, we wouldn’t have any idea what we were looking at. A ruin such as this deserves a detailed tour.

The morning of our tour was cloudy and windy which was just fine with us as it was so hot in Rome while we were there. Our tour guide, Christina is an archeologist and was very knowledgeable. We didn't feel rushed at all and were able to spend good quality time taking it all in and getting some great photos. Worth the price.

This was our anniversary day and we unfortunately had a horrible taxi driver and didn’t arrive until less than 10 minutes late but the tour gatherer refused to give us our entry tickets until she got “authorization” and by that time it was an hour past. She said, “here you go. Here are your tickets. I don’t know if they will let you in since so much time has passed but good luck.”
Well, this was the only thing my husband wanted to do and we didn’t get to do it. It totally ruined our day. Standing in the hot sun for an hour as we see her taking tour after tour and not accommodating us. Then, we FINALLY get just the tickets to go inside and since now so much time has passed, they did not let us in.
Do not use this company! I will never ever use this tour company and will never forgive them for ruining our anniversary. I didn’t mind missing the tour, but they could’ve just given us our tickets right away. Horrible customer service too that has no feelings or empathy at all!

The tour guide attempted to pivot in 100 degree weather. I just think it’s too much activity for the very young and they older folks or those with mobility issues

I think the tour was really good. As it was ridiculously hot our guide made sure to take time for water breaks and keep us in the shade which was appreciated. It is a little pricey but think worth it. Learnt a lot about ancient Rome and would recommend

Great experience with a great tour guide. Never a dull moment. Very knowledgeable in the history great guided tour. Went to Italy in the beginning of July with severe heat weather warning, and tour guide was wonderful accommodating. Was able to find cool and shaded spots for the entire entire group. Gave us plenty of time to take photos at great locations. At the end, gave us a referral for a great place with the best lasagna we ever had.

Be prepared if its a hot day. Very crowded, potential to lose your guide if you stop too long to take pictures. Arena floor is worth it. I would try to get underground if possible next time.

Me and my Mom visited the Colosseum in May 2024. Read all reviews about accessing the arena floor. It definitely is a unique experience compared to the 'view' from the spectator galleries. Everything happened as promised. It was very easy to locate the person with the flag outside the Metro station opp to Colosseum. We got the message in WhatsApp well in advance that our tour starting time was moved to 10:45 am instead of 9:30 am. The guide arrived at 10:35 am. One party didn't arrive and we waited for 5 more minutes and since they didn't come, the tour started at 10:50 am. Our guide Laura did an excellent job in explaining everything about the Roman Forum. Since we did study Roman history and got prepped already, it was easy and interesting to connect the dots. Laura was very nice and walked slowly to accommodate 2 senior citizens who couldn't walk very fast. Once inside the Colosseum, she showed the elevator that is reserved for the disabled and senior citizens. Very helpful.
Overall a great experience. I would definitely recommend this tour.

It was amazing to see the colosseum in this way. The tour guide was informative. It was quite a long tour including the Forum and on a very hot (35°C) day, it was perhaps a little too long and the group seemed like it was flagging by the time we got to the Forum.

Getting there:
The direction were a bit confusing. Its easy to miss the meet up location. Good we reached there with enough time buffer. Ask directions for metro station. Google maps will not take you to the right place.
Checkin:
Checkin was straightforward. A representative from ToursofRome was there with a banner. We approached her and she checked us in. She also verified our ID. Dont miss taking your id. Without it you won't be included in the tour and you won't get any refund.
The tour:
We had booked an early tour knowing how hot its going to be. Descriptions mentioned that the tour will begin at Colosseum and later moce to Palatine hill and Roman forum. But, we found out that the Colosseum entry was for 2 hrs later and the tour did other locations first. This not only caught us by surprise, but also drained our energy before we reached Colosseum.
The guide:
We had booked an English-speaking guide. I can understand the language barrier, but the guide was hard to understand. Most of the time it was mumbling; there wasnt any enthusiasm. The tour guide also lost parts of the group a couple of times and a lot of time was wasted waiting to gather folks back (in the hot sun). We also felt short-changed as the ticket mentioned full experience (minus underground), but we weren't allowed access to the topmost level. There is nothing VIP about this tour.
Tips:
Have lots of water. Take fans or misting fans.
