I'd give 10/5 stars if I could! We originally booked the underground, and Tours of Rome gave us a heads up well in advance that we could either cancel or do their Full Experience tour (at a discounted price, equivalent), and were very communicative with any questions we had. Cristina was an amazing tour guide, super friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and even took us on a couple of side quests since we were making good time. The amount that we learned looking back and reflecting was amazing, and her being part of the archaeological community really gives her a cut above a standard tour guide. Couldn't recommend this tour company in general, and if you get to go on a tour with Cristina, you're in for a massive treat!!

Our guide “Modi” was amazing. Can’t recommend enough the skip the line underground tour. It really tells you the true history of the Colosseum. This skip the line small group tour was worth every $!

While our original “underground” tour of the Coliseum was cancelled, our alternative tour was led by a wonderful guide (Tania). She did a great job leading us through the Coliseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill all while providing a great explanation of their history, and giving our group time enough time to look around & take pictures.

Though it was intriguing to see the lower level of the Colosseum - guided by an archaeologist - this tour was rushed and the same info repeated eg about the pulley system if the elevators etc.
No time for photos given nor to look at the several exhibited artefacts !
A nice guy but not a good tour guide and when we got to the arena floor he couldn ‘ t wait to get off !!
Our Tour of Rome guide Enrique was very nice but failed to state there was a full exhibition on the second floor and a film re the Colosseum on the ground floor.
The views were amazing ! But this tour was not worth £110 🤷🏻♀️

My first time in a night tour, I've been twice before only on the upper sections which were amazing as well. I thought the history and ancient ruins were amazing and I suggest find that at least once, the ticket included Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. Worth the $94.00

It was cool to see colosseum lit up at night! But was hard to see arena at night so recommend to see arena during day but underground was pretty lit up! The tour guide was very soft spoken so hard to hear while walking underground. Also did an arena tour during day with different tour guide booked thru Viator that was amazing. Overall cool to see at night but wished tour guide spoke louder for everyone to hear.

The tour itself was amazing but these tickets are bought by the Tours of Rome company, who don’t actually provide the guide (the guide is through the colosseum itself). The information about collecting tickets was confusing- they had sent me the tickets in WhatsApp previously (and it was just labeled with my name as a PDF file) but the day before and the day of I kept getting messages on WhatsApp regarding finding someone from the tour company to obtain our tickets. The number that the messages are sent from is the number to contact not the number provided in the WhatsApp message. Overall, it didn’t need to be that confusing and definitely was stressful even though we arrived early- I suggest sending the PDF file with the name and the word ticket so that we know that we have an electronic version and to stop sending the WhatsApp messages for ticket collection to everyone if they are not applicable.
While I think the experience itself was very enjoyable and worth seeing, if you are planning well ahead of time, definitely see if you can book directly with the colosseum first (tickets sell out quickly).

The Colosseum is an unbelievable place and the night tour of the underground is a great way to see it. Our guide was great, but every encounter with a Colosseum staff member was extremely unpleasant. Once completed we stopped to take a photo and then took the wrong pathway to the exit despite following exit signs and got screamed at and given filthy looks by Colosseum staff.

After reading such glowing reviews, I really wanted to love this tour. The tour felt rushed. There were many informative displays that we didn’t have much time to look at or read about. Our guide was extremely difficult to understand. I appreciated the ear piece for better audio, but our guide spoke fast and kept reminding us to keep moving as another group was on our heels. The tour lasted less than an hour and for the price we paid, I would have expected something better.

Recommend a different tour agency. Lack of clear instructions that each element contradicted each other. One spot said to meet the tour guide, another said go to front entrance.
After finally getting in for the tour, the listening device didn’t work and couldn’t hear a lot of what was discussed.
I had Tours of Rome agency that I reserved from the Viator app. Not sure the disconnect but late to respond and vague instructions almost made me miss the tour.

We took the Ancient Underground Tour of the Colosseum at night, and it was a fantastic experience! Touring the site after dark made it feel even more atmospheric and dramatic, plus it was noticeably cooler and less crowded—a huge bonus during the Roman summer. The tour was also more affordable compared to daytime options, making it a great value.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and brought the ancient history to life with insightful commentary and engaging stories. We especially enjoyed accessing the underground sections, which gave us a whole new perspective on the scale and complexity of the Colosseum.
The only drawback was the audio system—the headphones weren’t very clear, and at times it was hard to hear the guide, especially when moving between sections. That said, it didn’t take away from the overall experience.
Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore the Colosseum in a unique and memorable way!

Our favorite tour during our Rome trip! The meeting place was easy to find both out by the Metro and inside the Colosseum. There were 25 on the tour but it never felt too crowded. The headphones/speakers worked great. Seeing the Underground was absolutely worth it and highly recommended! Our guide was knowledgeable and patient as we went through the Underground and then up to the Arena level. He answered all of our questions and let us take lots of pictures. We learned so much and it was amazing to be where the gladiators walked. Afterward we were able to walk around the 1st and 2nd levels on our own.

Underground tour of colosseum was excellent. This tour added to the impressiveness of the colosseum as a whole. The forum and palatine hill were excellent as well because with the entry ticket we could explore at our own pace and the full experience ticket let us in everywhere to see the extras. We were the most excited for this tour. We had our two teenage boys with us who were looking forward to learning a lot about the History of the underground. We expected a 2 hour tour to start at 10:15 but it started at 10:45 and ended by 11:45. We were in a group of 22 people and the guide was nice but his communication of the history was hard to follow. In fact, the English was very poor and I speak Italian so it should have been easier for me to understand him. This tour cost our family 840 Euros for 4 people. This wasn’t cheap and it was definitely not worth the price. The experience was rather underwhelming. I’m rating it 3 stars for the simple fact that you’re standing in a fascinating piece of history. We are seasoned travellers and this was our third Viator experience.

Was a bit disappointed about the underground experience, our group was too big, (25 people) it was not that organised as expected.
Most of the tour was without guide.
I think it is too expensive, since we only has the tour guide for almost an hour and the rest of the tour was on us.
