The tour provider contacted us at 9pm the night before and told us that the time of entry to the Colosseum would be 12:30 instead of 10:30 which wrecked our plans for the day. Obviously they had not actually bought the tickets until that day and had not been able to get the time that we had bought and paid for
Hossein_R, May 2026
This was a pure waste of money. The line to buy tickets at the venue was way shorter than the entry check point and this tour didn’t help with that. The app they provided as “Audio Guide “ was absolutely useless.

The locations included in this experience were incredible to explore and experience. You need to carve out several hours if you want to see EVERYTHING. The colosseum has areas closed off to the public but there are plenty of other spaces open to see. After touring the colosseum, there will be a line to enter the palatine hills and roman forum area outside. VERY VERY big but I recommend going up the stairs near the entrance on the left side to see the fountain and the view from above. You’ll be able to have an overlook of part of the roman forum area.

Time of entrance was changed 15 minutes before our ticketed entrance time. Was very disappointed in the lack of clarity even though correct time was confirmed the day before.
Kaustubh_J, May 2026
The experience was very convenient since we received the ticket on our WhatsApp mobile number and the guide was very kind to provide audio guide with the ticket as well.
Miller_T, May 2026
The experience was great. The colloseum is one of lifes must sees. Also dont miss out on the forum and palatine hill. If you have time go the baths of caracalla too. Reccomend booking in advance.

Bought arena ticket. Received text from random number that it would not be arena ticket. Promised a refund that I was not given.

"Skip the line" tickets just means you skip the really long line to stand in multiple shorter lines. It did save time, but don't think you are sauntering right in when you walk up. You also have a 15 minute window on most tickets, so stressing about time and schedules will be part of your day.
That being said, you're standing in 2,000 year old structures. You walk where ancients walked, both celebrities and plebians. That was amazing, even if you overpaid for tickets and stood in crushing lines. My wife also really enjoyed the trip.
Had the weather been hotter, it would have been tougher. Bring an umbrella for shade just in case.
Mark_M, May 2026
It is VERY crowded! On-site staff very "Roman" in their customer service skills - AKA, not very helpful! But the venue is incredible and definitely worth going.
Steve_J, May 2026
We were pressed by the Viator host to go to the forum prior to the colosseum, which didn't give us enough time. The tickets are only a single entry...so we missed out on going back to Palatine Hill and the rest of the Roman Forum.
valeriewood49, May 2026
It was very difficult to find the office for tickets , the coliseum was exceedingly crowded and very hot
Patrice_G, May 2026
There is no actual tour guide, just an app on your phone that you download. Not worth it at all. Would not recommend.
Julia_R, May 2026
Could not use the audio. Just buy the entrance tickets. You still have to wait in line even if you booked the tickets with viator
Gabriel_C, May 2026
My wife and I were given verbal instructions on where the entry was and left to our own. We didn’t get to see the Roman Forum because our eticket would not show up. I also didn’t like the numerous emails from this company
Ellen_D, May 2026
I decided to wait a week before submitting my review as I wanted to give the booking agency a chance to deal with this. They haven’t despite numerous emails.
We booked the tickets for Saturday 2nd May with a 17.30 entrance time. We booked the tickets that give access to the Colosseum, Paletine Hill and the Roman Forum. A few days before the booking I received all the tickets and visiting info including a notice that last entry to historical sites was 18.15. They advised us the tickets for Palentine Hill/Forum were valid for 24 hours after so could be used Sunday 3rd.
We did our Colosseum tour no problem and on Sunday afternoon arrived at Palentine Hill. We were told that our tickets were not valid as it was the first Sunday of the month and only the free tickets were valid. We were turned away at the gate. The queue for the free tickets was hours long and we had 2 children with us.
I contacted the tour operator via the WhatsApp and he didn’t respond. I contacted Viator and was advised they couldn’t do anything. I have been back and forth for days trying to sort this issue out. We paid £138 for these tickets - which when they arrived have a face value of around £40. I was told today I would receive a phone call from someone and no one’s called and now no responses to my emails. I am disgusted with the service I have had.
JeanPierre_P, May 2026
worst of the worst , you should not take this it’s a Rip off, the guy never showed up. very very expensive
Mark_W, May 2026
Getting the tickets to enter were difficult and said I had to go to the office to pick them up when I got there. They said they should be on your WhatsApp. I did not see them there when they took my phone. They magically appeared and they acted like I was an idiot that I didn’t know they were there. I scheduled the Vatican for the next day so I called the phone number to see if they could send those tickets to my WhatsApp and they told me I had to go pick them up at that office and they were very angry that I was calling. Customer service is really lacking.

It’s a basic tour with a lot of crowds. The suggested audio app is not technologically up-to-date. Make sure to save screenshots of your tickets with QR code when you still have Wi-Fi/data. It was very stressful and we almost missed our tour time. Viator charges almost 3 times the standard rate.
Joakim_A, May 2026
Colosseum is great. A lot of history to take in.
Viator also made it easy to get inn with a pre bought entrance.
Gregorio_C, May 2026
When I arrived to the pick up location I was confronted by the news that there was a problem with my booking and don’t have tickets. The only option that was given by the operator is go buy your tickets at the counter and figure it out yourself. We’ll try to refund you.
seamanfamily123, May 2026
Colosseum amazing place to visit but really disappointed by the audio guide- not a guide at all! Limited information given if at all for many points of interest and very difficult to navigate- definitely not what was advertised! If you book this you will need an alternative guide- so many apps do a better job. Not what we would expect from Viator.
James_H, May 2026
I paid for tickets but they won't send them until about a day before your trip. Why? I went to their office in Rome and they were rude to me.
RUBEN_S, May 2026
Poor audio, very crowded no clear directions
You need to do a lot of improvement to justify the price
Christopher_W, May 2026
They send you a meeting point. This is outside a grafitied and shuttered garage on a back street where you will meet fellow travellers all frustrated by the lack of a person, an office or any help. Here you will have to download apps, data and instructions without wifi, support or advice. It is lonely, frustrating and stressful experience. The audio guide in sub wikipaedia, and generalised. At stark contrast to that offered by real guides on site, whom we found ourselves lingering beside to gain any real insights into the local history. An expensive mistake.
Abhishek_P, May 2026
Can improve on communication, like i messaged can I join the group after ticket is sent on Watsapp but there was no reply… we have to explore places right queue on own.. but overall was ok, with ticket entry was allowed
Sanjay_D, May 2026
Skip the line is very important
Viator was excellent at communicating
Audio guide was ok, next time I would get a guided tour
Joseph_W, May 2026
Was unable to get audio , I found it to complicated. Received two tickets by email. Enjoyed the experience of the colosseum. Crowds were ridiculous but can not be avoided.
T_C, May 2026
Online instructions somewhat confusing for older people. We thought we had to meet at your office. One guy was very helpful the other smaller guy was not quiet as nice. Otherwise it was fine.
Rob_J, May 2026
Very crowded - difficult to navigate. Audio guide was historic, but not specific to the areas where we toured. Bookstore was nice
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for your kind words! We’re happy you found the tour valuable and enjoyable.
Austen_C, May 2026
Very knowledgeable and informative app with audio, but you can also read it if you don't have your own headphones. Tickets came through with no problem
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re delighted that everything met your expectations.
