I would get the live tour. 1430 is too late in February to go to the colosseum and do Palatine Hill. Just not enough time. Also, the audio app stops when you pull up your camera, which is why I recommend a live tour and not the audio tour. But the Colosseum was an awesome site to see. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.

We didn't use the audio portion of this tour. It required that we download an app that appeared questionable and not secure. We were not sure if this was a scam or not. We just got the tickets to the Colosseum and did the tour on our own. We tried to get Colosseum tickets through the official website, but our browser was blocked so we had to find an alternative way in getting them and this was the less costly option available.

Positive experience with Viator. Essie to use. Staff guide met us on site and was friendly and helpful. Recommend using services

Loved the audio app and worked really well - our line at the colosseum was nothing, and the line for forum was long but that’s okay. Couldn’t get from official website in my country, so this was a lifesaver. Really great!

Everything worked perfectly. By pre booking we saved the queues for tickets and we were in straight away. Tickets were sent via WhatsApp a couple of days before which saved us going to the office to collect them.
All done digitally on the mobile.

Did 'exactly what it said on the tin' ... easy to purchase. Information and tickets came through via what's app and email.
Bit pricey...but Rome is!!
Ho_I, May 2026
Well worth the price we paid . Everything was seamless and skipping the queue a wonderful thing to do!
Trina_B, May 2026
Very busy on weekends with long queues, not so busy in the week.
Still worth it though, I have been twice and it still amazes me.
Helen_T, May 2026
Easy to find collection point. Staff friendly & helpful, took us straight into the Vatican avoiding all of the queues.

The audio download didn’t work at all. We even downloaded before and tried to add the codes. Not easy to use.

“We had an incredible experience visiting the Colosseum. Walking through such an iconic piece of history was unforgettable, The skip-the-line access saved us so much time, and the views from inside were absolutely stunning. Everything was smooth, and worth every penny. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Rome!”

The Viator tour of the Colloseum, Palatine Hill and Forum was a great experience. I would recommend downloading the guide info before starting your tour. We had some problems getting a wifi connection.
I was disappointed because we had also booked a Vatican Museum/Sistine Chapel/St Peters Skip the Line entry through Viator that was canceled. It was booked through a third party, which I was not familiar with, so when I received WhatsApp messages saying that my Vatican/ Museums/Sistine Chapel entry had been canceled because I did not reply to the messages, I was very upset. I contacted the third party company and they were very happy to sell me a guided tour of the Vatican, Museums and Sistine Chapel for $25 more per person We went ahead and got the tour for three of us, because we didn't want to miss out on this event. Viator needs to be upfront about giving info to third party tour offices. We were very pleased with our tour all in all, but would have appreciated knowing that our info was given to a third party and not kept with Viator.

We scheduled the Vatican tour first, for 10:30. Viator reschedule it to 12:30. The Vatican tour was lovely, however the rescheduled time left us with not enough time to see the Colosseum and catch our bus on time. Very disappointed.
Chris_G, May 2026
The tour provider contacted us at 9pm the night before and told us that the time of entry to the Colosseum would be 12:30 instead of 10:30 which wrecked our plans for the day. Obviously they had not actually bought the tickets until that day and had not been able to get the time that we had bought and paid for
Hossein_R, May 2026
This was a pure waste of money. The line to buy tickets at the venue was way shorter than the entry check point and this tour didn’t help with that. The app they provided as “Audio Guide “ was absolutely useless.

The locations included in this experience were incredible to explore and experience. You need to carve out several hours if you want to see EVERYTHING. The colosseum has areas closed off to the public but there are plenty of other spaces open to see. After touring the colosseum, there will be a line to enter the palatine hills and roman forum area outside. VERY VERY big but I recommend going up the stairs near the entrance on the left side to see the fountain and the view from above. You’ll be able to have an overlook of part of the roman forum area.
Miguel_F, May 2026
Time of entrance was changed 15 minutes before our ticketed entrance time. Was very disappointed in the lack of clarity even though correct time was confirmed the day before.

The experience was very convenient since we received the ticket on our WhatsApp mobile number and the guide was very kind to provide audio guide with the ticket as well.
Miller_T, May 2026
The experience was great. The colloseum is one of lifes must sees. Also dont miss out on the forum and palatine hill. If you have time go the baths of caracalla too. Reccomend booking in advance.

Bought arena ticket. Received text from random number that it would not be arena ticket. Promised a refund that I was not given.

"Skip the line" tickets just means you skip the really long line to stand in multiple shorter lines. It did save time, but don't think you are sauntering right in when you walk up. You also have a 15 minute window on most tickets, so stressing about time and schedules will be part of your day.
That being said, you're standing in 2,000 year old structures. You walk where ancients walked, both celebrities and plebians. That was amazing, even if you overpaid for tickets and stood in crushing lines. My wife also really enjoyed the trip.
Had the weather been hotter, it would have been tougher. Bring an umbrella for shade just in case.
Mark_M, May 2026
It is VERY crowded! On-site staff very "Roman" in their customer service skills - AKA, not very helpful! But the venue is incredible and definitely worth going.
Steve_J, May 2026
We were pressed by the Viator host to go to the forum prior to the colosseum, which didn't give us enough time. The tickets are only a single entry...so we missed out on going back to Palatine Hill and the rest of the Roman Forum.
valeriewood49, May 2026
It was very difficult to find the office for tickets , the coliseum was exceedingly crowded and very hot
Patrice_G, May 2026
There is no actual tour guide, just an app on your phone that you download. Not worth it at all. Would not recommend.
Julia_R, May 2026
Could not use the audio. Just buy the entrance tickets. You still have to wait in line even if you booked the tickets with viator
Gabriel_C, May 2026
My wife and I were given verbal instructions on where the entry was and left to our own. We didn’t get to see the Roman Forum because our eticket would not show up. I also didn’t like the numerous emails from this company
Ellen_D, May 2026
I decided to wait a week before submitting my review as I wanted to give the booking agency a chance to deal with this. They haven’t despite numerous emails.
We booked the tickets for Saturday 2nd May with a 17.30 entrance time. We booked the tickets that give access to the Colosseum, Paletine Hill and the Roman Forum. A few days before the booking I received all the tickets and visiting info including a notice that last entry to historical sites was 18.15. They advised us the tickets for Palentine Hill/Forum were valid for 24 hours after so could be used Sunday 3rd.
We did our Colosseum tour no problem and on Sunday afternoon arrived at Palentine Hill. We were told that our tickets were not valid as it was the first Sunday of the month and only the free tickets were valid. We were turned away at the gate. The queue for the free tickets was hours long and we had 2 children with us.
I contacted the tour operator via the WhatsApp and he didn’t respond. I contacted Viator and was advised they couldn’t do anything. I have been back and forth for days trying to sort this issue out. We paid £138 for these tickets - which when they arrived have a face value of around £40. I was told today I would receive a phone call from someone and no one’s called and now no responses to my emails. I am disgusted with the service I have had.
JeanPierre_P, May 2026
worst of the worst , you should not take this it’s a Rip off, the guy never showed up. very very expensive
Mark_W, May 2026
Getting the tickets to enter were difficult and said I had to go to the office to pick them up when I got there. They said they should be on your WhatsApp. I did not see them there when they took my phone. They magically appeared and they acted like I was an idiot that I didn’t know they were there. I scheduled the Vatican for the next day so I called the phone number to see if they could send those tickets to my WhatsApp and they told me I had to go pick them up at that office and they were very angry that I was calling. Customer service is really lacking.
