Great gallery. Poor Viator instructions.

Shawn_H, Feb 2026
The guide was not where we were told she would be. The instructions did not indicate the audio guide was your own iPhone & an app download and personal ear buds would be necessary.

Museum is a must! Viator communication was misleading.

Catherine_H, Sep 2025
The museum is a must see in Rome. However, in booking with Viator the instructions said to meet “Rome Tours” at the base of the stairs on the right of the entrance and someone with a blue and white shirt would meet me there. I was there 10 minutes before to get my ticket. There were tour groups lined up on the right side of the garden in the shade. None of them wearing blue and white shirts had a sign that said “Rome Tours.” After 10 minutes past my entry time, I looked for a number to call, and when I dialed the phone a recording said “Once Upon a Time Tours” which I had seen a sign for earlier. The rep, however was not wearing a blue and white shirt. She had taken it off, and when she showed it to me it was a white shirt with blue lettering. Instructions from Viator were misleading, it was harder than it needed to be to get my ticket, and I lost time in the museum.

What to know before you go

Michael_D, Sep 2025
Make sure you rserve because the event was at capacity. A bit stressful trying to find the correct tour guide company but even the competing tour guides were very helpful. Read all information carefully to know who you are supposed to look for at the event. We selected an unguided tour but I would go withe guide next time.

Interesting

Nadine_Y, Aug 2025
Saw a limited part of the gardens Lots of status and paintings to view. The takes about 1-2 hours to visit

Museum was incredible! Finding the ticket person wasn’t!

Tom_J, Sep 2024
The person we were to get our tickets from was not very visible and difficult to find. We had to ask other tour guides where he might be. After about ten minutes we finally found him!

Rip off agent

predrag_B, Jun 2024
Price of the ticket 13 euros. Charged 37. No any help from the operator. Was not happy, wanted resell the ticket under price for ten euros, people were desperate to get the ticket. Get abuse over the phone from the operator, she was threatening with police as the ticket is her property.

Wonderful venue; dreadful ticketing

Chris_G, Jun 2024
Easy and reliable service aside from finding the rep with the ticket. That was quite easy but why, oh why, can’t the ticket just come to my phone? I just had to locate a someone and be given a piece of paper! To be fair this was easier than other major sights, such as the Pantheon where I queued only to be sent to the bookshop in a church 800 metres away to get my piece of paper. I adore Rome but despair of the booking issues. Might just be me but the public internet seemed variable. Great time marred by poorly thought out ticketing procedures in most places.

It was raining so tour rep didn’t show up

Eric_O, Apr 2024
The tour guide due to rain did not meet us at the location as promised. Instead she called 15 minutes after we left the museum and asked where we were instead of saying she was inside instead of on the front steps. She said it was too windy and rainy to stand outside while all the other tour operators were with umbrellas in hand. Worst company for Rome.

The best from Bernini

Maria_I, Mar 2024
For me the Bernini scultures. The best is Apolo y Dafne. The place is beautifull its a nice palace to visit

Amazing Experience (but a little frustrating!)

Dean_B, Jan 2024
The collection of the Gallery is timeless and while I love visiting the organisation at the gallery sometimes leaves me bewildered. My first visits way in the past were frustrating with a lack of signage and photography forbidden with very stern attendants always ready to pounce! While this side has now improved my frustration this trip with how the gallery set up their brilliant Rubens exhibition. The exhibition itself is set up with Rubens’ works placed alongside the art that often informed or inspired it with excellent signage throughout. The problem was all visitors are directed to start their tour on the top floor when the exhibition is set up to start on the first floor - this leaves you experiencing things in reverse order! Despite these little frustrations please go for a visit but make sure you book well ahead as it is much loved by the locals who know to book early.

Thank god for Monica

Caroline_S, Dec 2023
The company itself were rude and unhelpful and the tickets were 3 times the price of at the Borghese. But Monica the representative who helped us with tickets once we were there was so sweet and great and saved the day

An absolute must visit site.

Shahid_Z, Oct 2023
The Berninis and the Caravaggios are the absolute highlights of the gallery; but this is not to detract from the other treasures on view: the mosaics, the Canovas, and the picture gallery with exquisite Raphaels, Carraccis, Titians, Rubens, and many others… and a walk through the grounds and gardens is a delight.

Best option for getting tickets

james_k, Sep 2023
The Borghese Gallery is usually sold out so one must make a reservation months in advance. Viator was our best and only option. The Viator rep was exactly where we were told to meet her and was able to get in for a great tour. I highly recommend a visit to the museum for anyone who has a love of history and or famous art work.

The best in Rome

AmyBauer, Sep 2023
Stunning! We loved it all. The wall paintings were very the wait. The collection is the best we have seen.

NO memorable experience....

Bogdan_S, Aug 2023
NO memorable experience. It was a nightmare. We booked tickets for three adults ,l but we have a kid together with us. We asked what we have to do for her. The answer was "for children it's free", but when we arrived at the entrance they asked for ticket even for the kid -"yes it's free, but you need ticket" got this answer. So calling the number written on the Viator message (tour operator -rome tours) we got a crazy answer : they don't have tickets for children and told me a very long and stupid story about "how difficult is life". Finally we found there another local provider who, for 29.49 euro, sold us a normal ticket (for adult) in order to get access to the gallery. Question for you : who will give me back this amount of money? If you need other information , please ask. The booking reference BR-1011085709 Otherwise a very beautiful museum.

Response from Host, Aug 2023

I take the liberty of correcting your review because most of the things you write do not correspond to what you told me on the phone. we are used to respecting the rules of each tourist site and I wish you to learn to do the same thing as well as learn to admit your mistakes without blaming whoever did exactly what you asked. You have booked for 3 adults and we have provided you with 3 tickets for 3 adults. We have done our job perfectly and therefore we certainly do not deserve a review like this. Although you have booked for 3 adults, you have taken the initiative to bring a minor with you, who you have never asked or booked. You never contacted us before the visit for information but you searched for it online on your own, finding information halfway. I confirm, as I said on the phone, that we do not sell tickets for minors. They can be purchased on the Museum's website for presale only. Tickets for minors are free but MUST be reserved. This is the rule of the Galleria Borghese museum, not ours. In fact, it was the museum guards who barred your entry. When the Borghese Gallery Museum will be our property you will be able to write a review like this. For the moment I consider it false and slanderous. I also believe that the word "stupid" you should use it looking in the mirror ....

Insist on tickets at time of payment!

Curtis_P, Jul 2023
Rome Tour agent didn’t show up with our tickets. After 5 tries, got through to Rome Tours and they kindly spoke to ticket office to give us tickets to enter. Enjoyed the museum, once we recovered from the stress.

Response from Host, Aug 2023

Next time just check your email account..... for bookings for 5pm or 5:45pm we send the ticket by email. For bookings from 9am until 4pm we have a meeting point in front of the museum entrance....not so difficult to understand However thank you for appreciating our help when out of office....

Easy and convenient skip the line tickets.

Todd_M, Jul 2023
Very easy. Representative was there to meet us and provided the tickets. Very fast. Reminder notice provided prior and easy directions

Stunning Borghese Galleria and Gardens

Jeff_S, Jun 2023
Easy ticket pickup with a very flexible coordinator. The gallery was stunning inside. If you come to Rome this is a must see museum!

Viator is a Ticket Scalper

Cherise_T, Jun 2023
Searching for the person holding the tickets was unpleasant. Realizing I paid 40 eu for a 15 eu ticket was a total ripoff.

Great Option.

Annmaree_G, Jun 2023
This was extremely easy. We were contacted a few days before the event and told how to get our tickets. We found everything exactly as was communicated. There were no problems at all.

Easy to manage

Mark_H, Jun 2023
Easy to meet for ticket pick up, directions easy to follow. Email Agee days ahead of planned visit gave information and were available to chat if needed. Would do again based on experience!

Great experience.

David_H, Jun 2023
I was concerned with some of the past reviews expressing concerns with communications but I found the company’s communication outstanding and simple. Instructions as to the ticket pick up point were simple and timely.

Bad experience!

Andreea_B, Jun 2023
Never happend to me before!I booked 2 tickets for the Borghese Gallery. The day before I conntacted the provider to make sure we got the tickets because there was not possible to download them. They asured that we will get the entrances ones we meet the contact person. We arrived 5 min late..there was nobody like indicated in the message, I asked downstairs at the entrance...at the end at 12:15 I called the provider (I kept the "call register" that shows the exact time of my call).Finnaly came the contact person and told me that we don t have tickets, that our reservation is not on their platform. We were offered to wait one hour ..if by chance someone doesn t show up we can enter.Everybody came so we dind t get inside. When I asked for the refund they rejected it!I never saw my tickets!Even if would have been our fault for been late they should gave us the "expired" tickets!Instead of a nice experience..an unpleasant memory!

Excellent experience at the Gallery! Having the skip the line ticket made a huge difference since it was sold out on the day of my visit.

Beautiful collection. But...

Oscar_K, May 2023
Beautiful collection. But why is the price on the Viator website three times higher than on the official website of Galeria Borghese?

Response from Host, May 2023

Dear customer, the price you paid cannot be the same of the price on site since you could book our service on May 4th for May 11th, when the availability at the Borghese Gallery museum was sold out since 2 months. We order tickets some months in advance to this museum, paying more then the price on site for a normal client, taking the risk to don't sell all tickets we have, giving to many visitors the chance to visit the Borghese Gallery museum even booking at last minute. This is a plus and justifies the price you paid

Easy process for this must-see museum

hanserk2, Apr 2023
I appreciated being able to book my tickets to the Borghese Gallery earlier and more conveniently than ordering them through the gallery;s site. It was a snap to download the voucher sent to me and turn it in at the gallery's ticket counter for an actual gallery ticket. This museum is a must-see in Rome in my opinion! We took a taxi there and found taxis waiting outside when we left.

Amazing Artwork!

Ray_T, Apr 2023
Amazing artwork, beautiful museum, easy to navigate! It was a good move to buy our tickets ahead of our trip to Rome. There were many people being turned away. However, what is purchased is not your entry ticket so you have to arrive early, get in line and get an official ticket. Good news, its paid for so no hassle there!

Perfect service and gallery!

CatherineIlona_L, Jan 2023
Super great service!! They assisted to make sure we are able to get in Borghese Gallery! The place is magnificent!!! I’m so glad we were able to experience it!

The paintings on stone are alone worth the price of admission

Roy_T, Dec 2022
I really loved the paintings on stone and the building itself, and all of its decorations. Of course, the surrounding park is also great.

Great tour

Carol_D, Dec 2022
This was our first time visiting this gallery. The experience was unbelievable. The rooms are exquisitely decorated and the sculptures extremely moving.
