Great fun but hard to find location. You need to be a bit nimble with your fingers but help always available

Anderson and Ron were great! I really enjoyed learning the history of voodoo and its similarities to catholicism. They were very detailed in explaining and demonstrating how to make the doll and were there to help every step of the way. Great experience overall and I love the healing and protection doll I made for myself.

This was an absolutely fabulous experience which we both enjoyed immensely. It wasn't just about making the dolls there was some background information and history on voodoo which I felt was very informative. Anderson and Dakota who took the class were very friendly and informative and Norma the cat was an added bonus! The class was relaxed and unrushed with opportunities to ask questions and help given where needed. Well worth the money paid and the most enjoyable trip so far on our itinerary.

Great introduction to hoodoo and root work. Anderson and Dakota are knowledgeable and friendly, and provided a terrific and thorough background of the dolls and their history in New Orleans. The experience is an entertaining, creative, and practical hands-on lesson. Fantastic way to spend an evening in NOLA.

This was a fun time. We went on a Friday night (our last night in town) and just getting there was exciting (people everywhere, music in the streets, just amazing). Making our own voodoo dolls, and learning what voodoo dolls were really for, was a great experience. For non-crafty people like me, there was plenty of help, so don't worry about that part. The shop the class was in also had a lot of neat things in it, and I eyed a lot of things I wanted to buy while I was making my doll (all reasonably priced and no one suggested buying anything, fyi). The class consisted of about 10 people including my sister and I, and the two teachers were a hoot. It was a great way to meet people (wish I had done it earlier in the week) and it was just an overall good time!

Anderson presented a great overview of culture and history of voodoo. He made the topic relatable to everyone in a respectful and inclusive way.

I booked this experience for my 12 year old daughter and me on a whim as something unique to do and it ended up being a highlight of our trip! It far exceeded our expectations, thanks to our instructor, Dakota, who was SO patient with us. And just a kind human to boot! I could listen to Dakota’s stories for hours; they have so much interesting knowledge and history to share and I feel privileged to have heard a piece of it. The dolls themselves were a lot of fun to make and we were both really impressed with how many options there were to customize our dolls to make them truly our own. We are really excited to have these special and unique souvenirs to take home as well as the memories of the whole experience. My daughter keeps asking if we can do the exact same class again, specifically with Dakota, before we go home - she wants to go back tomorrow! And as if that all wasn’t enough, our class was graced with a cameo by Norma the cat! If you ask my daughter, Norma might be the best cat ever, so fluffy, sweet, and playful! I will absolutely be recommending Dakota and this class to any friends and family headed to NOLA in the future. Thank you Dakota, Unique NOLA, and Norma for an enjoyable and unforgettable experience!

This was one of the most fun things we did while in NOLA. Our host was AWESOME and very patient with us while we put together our unique voodoo dolls. Truly something fun and different to do while in NOLA!

This is not a dark magic hoaxing type of voodoo. It’s very spiritual, explains the connectivity to other religions and is more about setting an intention.
