We had an absolute blast at the cooking class with Chef Cindy. We learned how to make a delicious artichoke stew, crawfish étouffée, bread pudding, and pralines. She was very engaging, answered all the questions, told a great history of New Orleans, and cracked some hilarious jokes. I'd highly recommend this activity in town.

This particular session was NOT hands-on but they do offer it. I enjoyed the stories she told about the history of how certain foods were introduced into Louisiana culture from different cultures. And boy-oh-boy was the finished product DELICIOUS!!!

This demo was suggested by our carriage driver. Chef Eric was great! Entertaining, funny and one hell of a cook. He cooked gumbo, jambalaya, bread pudding & pralines, all delicious!! As he cooked, he entertained with stories of local food history, offering his expert advice along the way. Everyone received copies of the recipes. Can’t wait to get home and try them. Highly recommend New Orleans School of Cooking Demo Class!!

A definite must. Gave you history of food that had you understanding the flavors of local foods. Seeing the chef cook the meal made it less intimidating to try back at home. Will definitely go back for other demos of other foods

Fun, educational, and delicious activity. Chef Lynn was very entertaining while whipping up a wonderful meal. The meal alone was worth the price and I learned a good bit about creole cooking and the basics of how to do it. I enjoyed it so much that I booked a hands on class the next day. Definitely going to try to make some of the recipes at home.

This is a very engaging experience. It’s cool to learn the history of some of NOLA’s original dishes and see them be made. The best part is sampling the delicious foods. The pralines are delicious also. I HIGHLY recommend this experience!

This was a whole lot of fun. The chef described the food she was making and also gave us a lot of history about New Orleans and where the food comes from that is quintessential NOLA. We ranged in age from 15-66 years and everyone had fun. Finally, the food was fabulous! We walked away knowing some food history and full of amazing New Orleans cookin'. WOrth the time and money.

Eric was very entertaining and the food he created was amazing. There was plenty of food for a meal. The free beer was a bonus. There were a lot of people crammed into a small room for the observation and eating, but it was worth every penny. A must

We spent 6 days in New Orleans. This was the best 3 Hours of the entire trip, and part of that other time was celebrating my 80th Birthday. This was more like celebrating with friends. Easy and natural over really great food. Michael was entertaining while instructing. I used to love to cook (and Bake) now I will Get Back To It.......
Michellehaire, May 2026
What a great experience! Michael was so knowledgeable and funny. Not only a demonstration on preparing some wonderful dishes, but also a lesson on the history of the original "melting pot" in the country. He prepared Chicken and Andouille sausage gumbo, Jambalaya, Pralines and white Chocolate Bread pudding with Rum sauce. Everything was so delicious. Even better than anything I've had in any restaurant here. Can't wait to try everything at home!

Great cooking instruction by a true southern home chef whose food was delicious. The presentation was easy to follow, fun/funny, and a lot of fabulous tips for cooking gumbo, jambalaya, bread pudding, and pralines. I learned soooo many tips that I will take back home to the PNW and use in my cooking/baking. So glad we took the time for this NOLA experience.
