Itinerary
Meet your small group and expert local guide in central Lisbon for a guided walking tour. After a brief introduction, learn how this 19th-century historical square was built with typical Portuguese stones to resemble the waves of the nearby ocean. From here, follow your guide to Restauradores Square and see an obelisk rise towards the sky, exemplifying Portugal’s ascent to independence from Spain in 1640.
Nearby, visit the Rossio Central Station, and listen as a train heads into the tunnel towards Sintra. Hear how this 19th-century engineering marvel was built and stands as one of Portugal’s most impressive accomplishments. Next, head to historic Carmo Square, home of the 1974 Carnation Revolution. Here, learn how Portugal’s previous dictatorial regime collapsed after a 48-year rule. Stroll onward to reach the charming Chiado neighborhood full of boutiques, theaters, bookstores, and vintage cafés.
Keep walking to and admire the heart of the city: Baixa, Lisbon's Downtown, which was completely rebuilt after an 18th-century earthquake, obeying new rules of urbanism and anti-systemic architecture, based on innovative solutions for its time.
Continue to Alfama, an old quarter known for its Moorish heritage and fado music. Learn about Portugal’s melancholic music as you walk by fado restaurants tucked in between alleys and down winding streets.
Snap some beautiful photos and then walk to your last stop, the majestic Commerce Square (Praça do Comércio). Hear how the reception hall was used to welcome travelers arriving from the Atlantic, before your tour concludes and you continue exploring on your own.

Our taxi driver dropped us off at the wrong location.
Much to our dismay we felt lost and was not going to meet our guide in time for our trip.
We contacted the phone number given to us on our display page hoping to reschedule.
Very much to our surprise we were guided to our
Tour guide by video from our phone and voice commands from the touring operator.
Made the trip and very much enjoyed ourselves.

Interesting way to explore Lisbon. Great historical overview of the city. Highly recommend this tour if you like walking and exploring a new place.

If you're visiting in summer, do the morning tour. Far too hot in the afternoon. Wear good walking shoes with a sole that grips.

Great intro to the city! Jose was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable and I really enjoyed his tour and appreciated his recommendations.

This tour was fantastic! It allowed us to see the highlights of the city while learning about its history! The wine, codfish cake, and Pastel de Nata were outstanding! And our tour guide Carlos was excellent! Highly recommended for anyone visiting Lisbon!

Catarina made our experience fun and very interesting. Spotting her at the meeting point was easy and our walking tour got off without a problem. I highly recommend this tour especially if this your first time in Lisbon. 5 stars for Catarina.

Great overview of history of Portugal and Lisbon, Carlos kept it fun and easy among narrow streets and some tastings! Great way to get an introduction to Lisbon😊

A lot of history about the origins and history of Lisbon. Our guide thankfully knew shortcuts to avoid climbing the worst hills, but still lots of stairs and walking for those who are older or not accustomed. Just a little heads up. The food stops were short, but gave the opportunity to try local favorites.

The walking tour was paced well and provided us with a great overview of the history of Lisbon. We explored several neighborhoods and tasted local specialties. Every place we visited was put into context. Excellent way to begin our visit to Lisbon.

Great tour on our first day, good introduction to the city. Our guide Phillip was wonderful.
We even got to try some food on the way.

Really enjoyed this walking tour of Lisbon - our guide was knowledgeable and made the city’s history genuinely interesting, not just a list of facts. Great mix of stops, good pace, and I left with much better understanding of Lisbon’s past. Highly recommend!
Sandra_K, Jul 2026
A lot of the tour is standing around talking. Being taken to a few free elevators was nice but no way I could possibly find them again and locals seemed highly annoyed to share these with a bunch of tourists. Not a ton of sights to see. The tastings were nothing special.

Was very informative and a great overview of the city and country.
Natalia knew her stuff and was well versed in the history

Filipa is a great guide, provided valuable information for first timers in Portugal.

Three hours well spent with our guide Philippe. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Saw areas of Lisbon we would never have found.
Top man.

Really enjoyed the day walking the streets of Lisbon. Carlos was a great guide providing lots of interesting facts about the city. The pace of the tour was great, and the short cuts and use of elevators to avoid some of the climbs was appreciated. Would recommend this as a tour to do in Lisbon, though if in summer do it in the morning as it does get warm.
haley_t, Jul 2026
Felipe was a friendly and knowledgeable guide who offered a local and historical perspective of Lisbon. There is a lot of walking and standing, but you’ll be rewarded with beautiful views and tasty treats!
Cathy_S, Jul 2026
Wonderful and informative walking tour. Phillip was fantastic, funny, knowledgeable and the hills and steps were far less challenging than expected. N
Kelsey_I, Jul 2026
Great walking tour of Lisbon! Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We saw several different neighborhoods and our guide took care to help us avoid hills where possible (though not completely possible). We took a toddler in a stroller and we were able to navigate the tour fine.
