Itinerary
Meet your small group and expert local guide in central Lisbon for a guided walking tour. After a brief introduction, learn how this 19th-century historical square was built with typical Portuguese stones to resemble the waves of the nearby ocean. From here, follow your guide to Restauradores Square and see an obelisk rise towards the sky, exemplifying Portugal’s ascent to independence from Spain in 1640.
Nearby, visit the Rossio Central Station, and listen as a train heads into the tunnel towards Sintra. Hear how this 19th-century engineering marvel was built and stands as one of Portugal’s most impressive accomplishments. Next, head to historic Carmo Square, home of the 1974 Carnation Revolution. Here, learn how Portugal’s previous dictatorial regime collapsed after a 48-year rule. Stroll onward to reach the charming Chiado neighborhood full of boutiques, theaters, bookstores, and vintage cafés.
Keep walking to and admire the heart of the city: Baixa, Lisbon's Downtown, which was completely rebuilt after an 18th-century earthquake, obeying new rules of urbanism and anti-systemic architecture, based on innovative solutions for its time.
Continue to Alfama, an old quarter known for its Moorish heritage and fado music. Learn about Portugal’s melancholic music as you walk by fado restaurants tucked in between alleys and down winding streets.
Snap some beautiful photos and then walk to your last stop, the majestic Commerce Square (Praça do Comércio). Hear how the reception hall was used to welcome travelers arriving from the Atlantic, before your tour concludes and you continue exploring on your own.

Johnny did a fantastic job on the walking tour. He was very informative and personable. He took us to places we would have never discovered on our own. It was the perfect way to start our stay in Lisbon.

It was one of the best guided tours we have been on across many countries. Our guide Daniel was so engaging, knowledgeable and fun to talk with. He made it so interesting and personal we loved every moment along the way. Nice touches with the stops to try local food and drink.
Sarah_O, Jun 2026
Our guide had fantastic knowledge about the history of Portugal and Lisbon which was very interesting. The tour didn’t visit as many places as we had expected

This tour was a really good value for the price and I learned a lot. However I would give them this feedback: 1) the first few stops were way too long talking (I zoned out), 2) some stops should be by some steps or a bench to take a break from standing, and 3) our tour guide was hard to hear so asking if their volume is adequate would be helpful. We all got a Pastel de Nata, a small cup of Vino Verde, and a large Codfish Cake. All delicious. The tour lasted about 2.25 hours.

This tour offered great value for money and is highly recommended! Our fantastic tour guide, Phillipa, did an amazing job explaining the entire city of Lisbon and helping us explore its different neighborhoods. She was a true 5-star guide who even showed us great shortcuts and how to navigate Lisbon's famous hills using the city's public elevators. The tour also included a nice bonus of wine, a tapa, and the famous Portuguese pastry.

I always like to take a walking tour when I come to a new city. This way I get my bearings for the rest of my trip. Martin was terrific. We had 13 people in our group. I wouldn't want any more because Lisbon is a busy city with lots of tight places. Martin's explanations about the history, suggestions for getting around, and general guidance were perfect. The time flowed effortlessly. Lisbon is amazing.

This was a fantastic walking tour around Lisbon. Filipe was an excellent guide - very knowledgeable, friendly, and full of interesting facts and stories about the city. The tour was a great way to discover Lisbon, meet new people from all over the world, see some of the main areas, and get a real feel for its history and culture. I’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lisbon and wanting to explore the city with a great local guide.

This tour was amazing. Marko was very knowledgeable. It was a lot of ups and downs, but Marco knew all secret ways to go. A lot of walking, but totally worth to take.

Extremely informative and fascinating!
We were not familiar with the historical significance of Lisbon and we absolutely loved it. Our guide Fillipa was an excellent host and she actually grew up in the town and was passionate about the history and made it that much more special.

I was not expecting to see so much out of a walking tour. It wasn't too difficult to get around with the use of the elevators that save many steps around the city, but there are some steps and some hills. Our guide Felipa is knowledgeable and is an excellent communicator. We both enjoyed our tour very much! Merci Felipa!!

Wonderful tour, great way to see everything, beautiful views and good stops - the break to eat and drink in the middle with a toilet stop is good!
Heather_G, Jun 2026
This tour was the perfect mix of Lisbon history, sightseeing and sampling Lisbon favorites. Put your walking shoes on you will walk all over the city. Our group enjoyed seeing and learning so much in an afternoon.
Louis_D, Jun 2026
Carlos was our guide. Super friendly and knowledgeable. We covered a lot of ground including some spots off the beaten path. You can come to this one slightly hungry, as you'll stop for a couple of tastings and some vinho verde along the way. But don't worry, you'll walk it off.
Not specific to this tour, but Lisbon is very hilly, so you should be at least moderately fit to enjoy.
It was the perfect way to start our trip.

Be prepared to climb some stairs and hills. Thanks Alex. Well done.
