Martine was an excellent guide and made 3 hours go by super quickly! He was knowledgeable and fun and everyone in our group enjoyed the tour! We visited all of the most important places and he also gave us recommendations for restaurants . The pastry, cod potato croquet and the green wine was a great touch. Highly recommend!

FABULOUS tour with Martin! His enthusiasm and knowledge were wonderful! We covered a lot of grounds and also got three little tastings along the way. Great value for the money! One note it is rather hilly so if you have mobility issues, this might not be for you. Otherwise definitely do it!

Itinerary

Meet your small group and expert local guide in central Lisbon for a guided walking tour. After a brief introduction, learn how this 19th-century historical square was built with typical Portuguese stones to resemble the waves of the nearby ocean. From here, follow your guide to Restauradores Square and see an obelisk rise towards the sky, exemplifying Portugal’s ascent to independence from Spain in 1640.

Nearby, visit the Rossio Central Station, and listen as a train heads into the tunnel towards Sintra. Hear how this 19th-century engineering marvel was built and stands as one of Portugal’s most impressive accomplishments. Next, head to historic Carmo Square, home of the 1974 Carnation Revolution. Here, learn how Portugal’s previous dictatorial regime collapsed after a 48-year rule. Stroll onward to reach the charming Chiado neighborhood full of boutiques, theaters, bookstores, and vintage cafés.

Keep walking to and admire the heart of the city: Baixa, Lisbon's Downtown, which was completely rebuilt after an 18th-century earthquake, obeying new rules of urbanism and anti-systemic architecture, based on innovative solutions for its time.

Continue to Alfama, an old quarter known for its Moorish heritage and fado music. Learn about Portugal’s melancholic music as you walk by fado restaurants tucked in between alleys and down winding streets.

Snap some beautiful photos and then walk to your last stop, the majestic Commerce Square (Praça do Comércio). Hear how the reception hall was used to welcome travelers arriving from the Atlantic, before your tour concludes and you continue exploring on your own.

Bela Lisboa!

Mayumi_S, Jun 2026
Amazing tour! Our guide, Philipe, was amazing. He’s very knowledgeable, friendly, and amazing tour guide. We saw the best of Lisbon and highly recommend this tour!!

Excellent walking tour with Franco, he was very knowledgeable and brought along a little sense of fun. Enjoyable morning

Gwen_L, Jun 2026
Good walking shoes essential, there's some inclined to walk but the pace is good and broken up with the stops. If you're good you get treats 😉

Enriching

Ana_M, Jun 2026
Lisbon is a beautiful city, full of history and places to discover. Walking the city center with Filipa was an absolute delight! It was a hot summer day and she took care of our group, showing us escalators and lifts not listed on the maps, and showing us around giving us lots of suggestions of things to do later.

Great tour!

Kamille_C, Jun 2026
Felipa was super knowledgeable and we really enjoyed our tour. I learned a lot and tried some great spots. Highly recommend!

Filipa was the very best

Alison_O, Jun 2026
An excellent tour with our excellent guide Filipa. A great way to get your bearings in the city with a couple of great snack stops included. Highly recommended.

Walking Tour of Lisbon

Ed_L, Jun 2026
Our guide, Filipa was great. Very informative and knowledgeable about all aspects of Lisbon. Loved the short cuts! Two areas for improvement are the Pastels de Nada should have been warm. Not so good cold. And the Ginjinga sample should be included with the tour.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you very much for your kind review. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed exploring Lisbon with Filipa and appreciated her knowledge, insights, and even her favorite shortcuts around the city! We also appreciate your suggestions regarding the Pastel de Nata and the Ginjinha tasting. We understand that a warm Pastel de Nata can certainly enhance the experience, although the temperature may vary depending on the bakery's baking schedule and the time of the visit. As for the Ginjinha, thank you for the recommendation – we are always happy to receive guests' ideas and will certainly take it into consideration for future improvements to the tour. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Lisbon in the future. Best regards, Antonio Inside Lisbon

Great way to see the main parts of the city if you are short on time!

Gannon_C, Jun 2026
Lots of walking and standing listening to the tour guide but that is to be expected. Our guide, Felipe was great and very knowledgeable. We got to try some traditional Portuguese tarts, cod fish cake and green wine. Great way to see the main parts of the city if you are short on time.

Amazing walking tour of Lisbon, a must do!

Madelyn_S, Jun 2026

Thorough and Fun Tour of Insider Lisboa!

Debe_D, Jun 2026
Thorough and knowledgeable, Filipa was a fantastic guide. She provided breaks with desserts, wine, cod croquette for refreshment, and historic information along the way. Toss in some cultural humor and she was terrific!

Great walking tour!

Maibel_D, Jun 2026
Johnny did a fantastic job on the walking tour. He was very informative and personable. He took us to places we would have never discovered on our own. It was the perfect way to start our stay in Lisbon.

Fantastic tour around Lisbon with the best guide Daniel

helenbickerton, Jun 2026
It was one of the best guided tours we have been on across many countries. Our guide Daniel was so engaging, knowledgeable and fun to talk with. He made it so interesting and personal we loved every moment along the way. Nice touches with the stops to try local food and drink.

Lisbon City Tour

Sarah_O, Jun 2026
Our guide had fantastic knowledge about the history of Portugal and Lisbon which was very interesting. The tour didn’t visit as many places as we had expected

Good value, but have feedback

Erica_B, Jun 2026
This tour was a really good value for the price and I learned a lot. However I would give them this feedback: 1) the first few stops were way too long talking (I zoned out), 2) some stops should be by some steps or a bench to take a break from standing, and 3) our tour guide was hard to hear so asking if their volume is adequate would be helpful. We all got a Pastel de Nata, a small cup of Vino Verde, and a large Codfish Cake. All delicious. The tour lasted about 2.25 hours.

5-star tour with Phillipa—fantastic local tips and great value!

P_K, Jun 2026
This tour offered great value for money and is highly recommended! Our fantastic tour guide, Phillipa, did an amazing job explaining the entire city of Lisbon and helping us explore its different neighborhoods. She was a true 5-star guide who even showed us great shortcuts and how to navigate Lisbon's famous hills using the city's public elevators. The tour also included a nice bonus of wine, a tapa, and the famous Portuguese pastry.

Great Experience

Sharon_M, Jun 2026
I always like to take a walking tour when I come to a new city. This way I get my bearings for the rest of my trip. Martin was terrific. We had 13 people in our group. I wouldn't want any more because Lisbon is a busy city with lots of tight places. Martin's explanations about the history, suggestions for getting around, and general guidance were perfect. The time flowed effortlessly. Lisbon is amazing.

A fab experience!

Adam_H, Jun 2026
This was a fantastic walking tour around Lisbon. Filipe was an excellent guide - very knowledgeable, friendly, and full of interesting facts and stories about the city. The tour was a great way to discover Lisbon, meet new people from all over the world, see some of the main areas, and get a real feel for its history and culture. I’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lisbon and wanting to explore the city with a great local guide.

Mark_B, Jun 2026
This tour was amazing. Marko was very knowledgeable. It was a lot of ups and downs, but Marco knew all secret ways to go. A lot of walking, but totally worth to take.

Top Line Lisbon

A Gem of World History

Kyle_S, Jun 2026
Extremely informative and fascinating! We were not familiar with the historical significance of Lisbon and we absolutely loved it. Our guide Fillipa was an excellent host and she actually grew up in the town and was passionate about the history and made it that much more special.

Excellent walking tour

Antoine_D, Jun 2026
I was not expecting to see so much out of a walking tour. It wasn't too difficult to get around with the use of the elevators that save many steps around the city, but there are some steps and some hills. Our guide Felipa is knowledgeable and is an excellent communicator. We both enjoyed our tour very much! Merci Felipa!!

Great

Alexandra_W, Jun 2026
Wonderful tour, great way to see everything, beautiful views and good stops - the break to eat and drink in the middle with a toilet stop is good!

This tour was the perfect...

Heather_G, Jun 2026
This tour was the perfect mix of Lisbon history, sightseeing and sampling Lisbon favorites. Put your walking shoes on you will walk all over the city. Our group enjoyed seeing and learning so much in an afternoon.

Comprehensive tour, great guide

Louis_D, Jun 2026
Carlos was our guide. Super friendly and knowledgeable. We covered a lot of ground including some spots off the beaten path. You can come to this one slightly hungry, as you'll stop for a couple of tastings and some vinho verde along the way. But don't worry, you'll walk it off. Not specific to this tour, but Lisbon is very hilly, so you should be at least moderately fit to enjoy. It was the perfect way to start our trip.

Excellent and...

Ilma_B, Jun 2026
Excellent and informative. The tasting experiences were very special. Be prepared to climb some stairs and hills. Thanks Alex. Well done.

Great city overview.

Jane_G, Jun 2026
Incredible walking tour overciew of the center city area. Our guide was so knowledgeable, helpful and had great recommendations. The stop for little nibbles of Lisbon treats was also a nice break and pick me up during the tour. Highly recommend as your first stop in Lisbon!.

Very pleasant and informative

Angela_P, Jun 2026
Felipe, our guide, was amazing! A wealth of information, with a wonderful personality ! The tour was very well structured, so we can see the highlights of Lisbon in a short visit. Sampling of some of the local traditional food was a nice touch.

Excellent intro to Lisbon

Peggy_H, Jun 2026
Jose is an excellent guide! Be forewarned: the hills are no joke. But we stopped frequently to see sites and learn history. A wonderful tour!

Amazing experience

Ewa_S, Jun 2026
