We had the pleasure of doing the Dark Side of Charleston tour with Bruce, and it was such a great experience! Not only was he *incredibly* knowledgeable about Charleston’s history, but you could tell he genuinely loves continuing to learn more about it himself, which made the tour even more fun! On top of that, he was hilarious and kept the whole group entertained the entire time. We did the 10 PM tour to be specific, which i feel only added to the dark lore. I would highly recommend booking a tour with Bruce if you’re considering it!

We had Sarah as our tour guide on the after dark tour for 18+ and she was so fun! She was extremely knowledgeable about the topics she talked about and even when other guests asked questions not related to the tour she explained in detail. We loved that she genuinely enjoys her job. We definitely will be taking a tour with her again.

We were expecting our “Dark Side” tour to feature stories of crime, corruption, plagues, bordellos, gangsters, moonshine, illegal gambling, etc, much like other similar tours in other cities. Instead it was mostly a vulgarity-laced sex narrative. We bailed early and got a refund (to their credit, they issued the refund without objection). I give two stars instead of one because they encouraged people who were uncomfortable to go get a refund, and we did.

I would like to recommend the tour but I didn’t get to experience it. I thought that I had signed up for a 10 pm tour. But I missed the call saying they were departing on the 8 pm tour. I asked them if I could switch to the 10 pm and they said it was cancelled. I am asking if I can get a refund because Wednesday was the only evening we were available.

Want a tour about murderers/gangsters. Then this is not your tour. The only stories told were about prostitutes. The tour guide was great but not a variety of crime stories. Only prostitutes and brothels.

Everything was seamless and great. From the ease inconvenience of the online booking to even getting a courtesy call to ensure that we were still intending to attend the tour—- things could not have been more seamless. David introduced us to the darker underbelly of Charleston, which remarkably made us appreciate the city it has become. A colony founded as a get rich(er) quick scheme, where 8 men owned everything and the other 142 engaged in a daily fight for survival with the elements, disease, the wildlife, and the Native Americans made this a Hell Hole. All those men without wives created a profitable place for prostitution to flourish and alcohol to flow freely. This wicked, violent, drunken town would be the scene of pirate attacks, secession, prohibition, murder, and eventual redemption. Thus begins your introduction to Charleston.
We enjoyed the candid and colorful descriptions of the city and some of its more infamous places and people. These aren’t the places and people who you will see promoted in the official tourist brochures! Good time! Knowledgeable and personable guide!
