Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls
We used Viator to book this excursion the day before the excursion. We waited until last minute due to caution for foggy weather that would have obscured the views. We didn't have a printer on the ship, but the downloaded tickets on our phones worked fine. M&M Tours was the local tour outfit that Viator used. The tour was easy to find, super polite people, organized. Archie was our bus driver to and from; a native from Juneau, who was knowledgeable, entertaining and informative. A small visitor center is there with a gift shop and lots of seating around the windows, plus informative displays. Most of our time was spend walking to Nugget Falls, about a 25 minute hike in and then again back. First week of May, there was still slush and some ice on the flat trail. There were some walking sticks along the door to visitor's center and I would have borrowed one to feel more comfortable on the slushy ice. We went to Alaska for scenery and local information, this didn't disappoint.

Amazing once in a life...
Amazing once in a life time experience. I know it’s expensive but honestly so worth the price. At first I was a little worried because the meeting point was a bit chaotic. The workers seemed stress trying to make sure people were checked in and assigned to the right groups. Each plane was also fully packed, but even so each person still gets a great and complete view out the plane. The windows are so clean, so you get the perfect view and the perfect pictures. The ride was so smooth and you get to see so much in just 40 minutes. Our pilot was very friendly. An audio guide also played on the headphones, which gave some very interesting information. Overall, would definitely recommend.

Best way to whale watch!
Small local company. They are the only whale watching boat or you can walk completely around the deck. TJ and Andrew were amazing! Told us so much about we are watching our conservation, and the laws they have to follow all the companies cooperate with each other, and when they learned that there was orcas north of us, turned the boat and we raced north to find a pod of orcas and also the most beautiful scenery, along with some others that were racing away from the orcas. They had so much energy, very entertaining easy-going and I love a small boat. Would absolutely recommend this! 28 people so everybody got a spot. We watched the Long lines climb aboard the big buses and that was not us!. James drove us from the port to their dock with local tips. We saw a bear family and bald eagles along the way. Cannot say enough. You will not be disappointed.!

Great whale watching tour
The ship was modern and comfortable. All glass windows with comfortable seating. The staff passed out soft drinks and snacks. All staff was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We had multiple whale sightings and Seals basking on the shoreline. The ship also had state of the art technology. I highly recommend this tour company.

With no roads in or out, Juneau might seem a strange choice for a state capital—but it’s certainly no strange choice for travelers looking to experience the 49th state. From this town hanging off a mountainside, there’s nowhere to go but into the wild: Juneau tours lead to the foot of glaciers, the playgrounds of whales, the edges of the forest, and beyond. Of course, gold-rush history and Alaskan cuisine shouldn’t be overlooked, and there will be plenty of time for that between whale-watching, hiking, paddling, and getting familiar with America’s wild side.
