What are people saying about Sitka

Best boat trip EVER!
Me, my boyfriend and our 2 friends booked. Having been to on boat trips before, I was a bit sceptical about if we’d actually see a whale or anything really at all.
Well I was blown away - we all were! We saw so much wildlife and Captain Matt did everything he could to really maximise our experience. Sophie was also really friendly, chatty and very knowledgeable about the wildlife we were seeing.
We loved how the boat wasn’t too crowded, how everyone was able to see everything and the fact that there were also hot drinks and snacks to keep us going.
At the end of the tour, we were expecting to get dropped back off in Sitka, but we were actually given the option to get off right next to our cruise ship. This was a big help and was really appreciated.
Overall, I can say without a single doubt at all, that this was by far the best boat trip and experience I’ve ever encountered!
If you’re thinking of booking and aren’t sure… DO IT! You won’t regret it!

Best of Sitka tour
Booked through Viator. Excellent pre-tour communications from the vendor. Ryan gets high marks from us as a fun, knowledgeable and flexible tour guide. Learned a lot at the Raptor and Bear rescue facilities, and Ryan shared the background stories on many of the animals. Money well spent.

Awesome experience - Thank You!
This was sooo great!! Super nice guy, and one of the few people we met that actually lives there year round. He had a lot of knowledge and was patient with me taking a 1,000 photos.
I know other reviewers complained about the seating and bathroom, but there is literally nothing to complain about. The boat seats 6 passengers. No only 4 can be at the table, but 2 additional seats get a front seat view! (Last time I checked 4+2=6)
The bathroom is more than what one would expect on a small boat. It is a private room, with an actual toilet (read not a bucket). Yes you have to put up the curtains on the inside when you are using it, but it’s really NOT a big deal. You take the curtains down when you’re done for safety reasons and so the captain can see things and navigate. Having the ability to look through the window when no one is using the restroom helps him to create an even better experience because he is more likely to see some wildlife that he might not have, and can turn around or navigate to get a better view.
Just trying to say this was totally worth going and would recommend it.

We had an absolutely...
We had an absolutely amazing experience on our nature and whale watching tour in Sitka, Alaska! The owner took our small group out, and from start to finish the trip was incredible. Their knowledge of the area and enthusiasm for wildlife made the experience even more special.
We were fortunate enough to see bald eagles, sea otters, sea lions, and two different types of whales, which made for an unforgettable day. The small group setting allowed for a more personal experience and plenty of opportunities to take in the breathtaking scenery and enjoy watching the animals in their natural habitat.
You could tell how passionate the owner is about what they do, and that passion made the tour truly exceptional. This was one of the highlights of our Alaska trip, and we highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Sitka. Thank you for an unforgettable adventure!

Quick sample platter of Sitka attractions
It went pretty fast to fit everything in. There are thousands of people coming ashore from cruise ships. This tour allows you to skip the lines for entry, but there is not enough time to read all of the information panels about all the animals. You can take pictures of them and read later if you are are a person that likes to read all the information. For those who don't like to read everything, this has the right amount of time. We had originally planned to spend more time in the park with the totems and walk back to the center of town, but it started to rain so we rode the van back instead.

Smooth Comfortable Boating in Sitka
The naturalist was very knowledgable and a good communicator. The length (2hrs) was good, the seating was comfortable and viewing areas excellent. The ship was of a split hull design (catamaran) and this design provided smoother boating than a V-hull design . It was a first rate experience for our family of seven. We even saw whales and sea otters.

Bears,raptors and totems oh my!
The tour was very organized and overall great. The raptor exhibits were good and the totem pole area was good. I wish we had more time in the totem park because the scenery was beautiful and great trails. The bear exhibit was awesome. They fed the bears while we were there and had a lot of information about what they do at the conservatory. It was very interesting.

Sitka with Hannah 10/10
The tour van can seat about 12 but our group was only 4. It felt like a truly private tour. We all had a wonderful couple of hours with our guide Hannah. She was very knowledgeable and personable. She answered all of our questions and gave us really good insight on places to checkout in town after the tour. We stopped at a couple of scenic views to take some photos. Hannah was great! The whole experience felt like we were just visiting a very well-informed friend not a rigid tour. 10/10

Outstanding!
Great experience with Captain Chris! Great communication, picked us up on time from our ship and spent a great day on the water! Saw otters, whales, sea lions and eagles - the views from the water were stunning, from quiet inlets and waterfalls to the open water. Highly recommend this tour - safe, reliable and friendly operator!

Amazing 10 out of 10!
Captain Brad’s small boat tour was the absolute highlight of our Alaska trip. We arrived on a cruise and, instead of booking through the cruise line, we always like to find local tours. That’s how we discovered Brad and Sitka Nautical Tours and we are so glad we did!
From the cruise terminal, there is free transportation that drops you off right where you meet Brad to begin your adventure. We had already taken two other excursions in different towns (whale watching on a large boat and a bear-viewing trip by van) which we thought were amazing. But nothing compared to what Brad showed us.
He took us right up to two bears walking along the coastline. Watching them interact, play, and fish so closely was absolutely mind blowing. Brad skillfully positioned the boat, cut the engine, and the bears carried on as if we were not even there. We watched them for over 15 minutes, an unforgettable experience.
Then Brad asked if we wanted to see whales (of course we said yes). We thought the bear encounter would be the highlight, but Brad amazed us again. On the way, we saw eagles, otters, and sea lions, and then suddenly whales everywhere. Unlike our previous whale tour where sightings were rare and distant, with Brad we were surrounded. Blowholes, tails diving, and whales surfacing all around us you did not even know where to look because it was happening everywhere.
Beyond the incredible wildlife encounters, Brad himself made the tour outstanding. He’s knowledgeable, personable, and truly passionate about what he does. This was a 10 out of 10 experience, and we cannot recommend it enough. Skip the cruise line tours and book with Sitka Nautical Tours as you will not regret it!

Lovely escape
So relaxing and beautiful. Great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the cruise crowd and see some of the real beauty of Alaska. Rhee and Nathan were professional and knowledgeable and had a wealth of information to share about the local marine life and lay of the land. Top notch organization. Well worth it! Felt safe and comfortable for our all ages group from grandparents to kids.
