Outstanding Guide at Dixie’s, but Disturbing Experience with a Ken’s Tours Guide

We booked our tour with Dixie’s, and our guide, Joel, was outstanding. She knew all the best photo locations, took amazing pictures for everyone, kept the tour organized, and was friendly, patient, and professional from start to finish. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by a guide from Ken’s Tours named Omar, whose group was directly behind ours and was tailgating our group throughout the tour. Even when we were simply waiting for the group ahead of us and there was nowhere to go, Omar repeatedly pressured our family to move faster. He spoke to me in a rude and confrontational manner, saying things like, “Do you hear me?” and demanding that I answer “yes.” When I chose not to engage, he asked, “Do you even speak English?” I found that comment unnecessary and unprofessional. The most concerning incident occurred when my sister was carrying a young child in a backpack carrier. While we were stopped because the group ahead had not moved, Omar pushed into my sister from behind with his body, causing both her and the child to be pushed forward. There was no reason for physical contact. He also made an inappropriate personal comment asking where the baby’s father was. Joel heard that final comment and immediately stepped in to handle the situation professionally, which we greatly appreciated. At one point, I also heard members of Omar’s own tour group asking him, “Why aren’t you taking photos for us?” It seemed that he was spending more time confronting and focusing on our family than attending to the guests he was responsible for. Lower Antelope Canyon is absolutely breathtaking, and thanks to Joel, our tour with Dixie’s was an amazing experience. She represented her company with professionalism, kindness, and respect. I hope Ken’s Tours investigates this incident so that every guest can enjoy the canyon in a safe and respectful environment.

Great tour!

This is a great tour to see the island in a day. Vehicle is comfortable and a great way to see the island. Tour guides are knowledgeable and friendly. Lunch, water, and snacks provided and are plentiful. Kids/adults can take naps in between stops which is huge being that this is an 11-12 hour tour. All in all a great experience and we recommend it.

We had an amazing experience on the Mendenhall Glacier Waterfall and Whale Watching Tour during our Alaska cruise stop. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip. The Mendenhall Glacier area was beautiful and unforgettable. The walk to the glacier and waterfall was scenic, peaceful, and gave us incredible views of Alaska’s natural beauty. It was a great place for photos and to enjoy the surroundings. The whale watching portion was absolutely amazing. We were very lucky to see both orcas and whales in their natural environment, and we also saw sea lions along the way. Watching the wildlife with the mountains and ocean scenery in the background was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The tour was well organized, the timing worked perfectly for our cruise schedule, and we had a great balance of sightseeing and adventure. This tour is highly recommended for families and anyone visiting Juneau who wants to experience the best of Alaska’s wildlife and scenery. A truly memorable Alaska experience!

The scenery was...

The scenery was absolutely breathtaking and had stunning Mountain View’s. The horses were well-trained, gentle, and clearly well cared for, making the ride enjoyable for riders of all experience levels. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and shared interesting information about the area's landscape throughout the ride. The pace was perfect, allowing plenty of time to take in the incredible views and capture photos. If you're visiting the area, I highly recommend a horseback riding with Heart Six Ranch. Easily one of the highlights of our trip!

Amazing adventure on the NaPali Coast

This was an AMAZING experience! Captain Mike, Lionel, and Jazzy were a wonderful crew and very knowledgeable and helpful. Fantastic tour guide and value for all we did!

Very friendly knowledgeable guide/ driver. We had Barb. She grew up in Niagara and even had suggestions for visiting the Canadian side. We enjoyed the maid of the mist and the cave of winds and all the different viewpoints. She was very organized with keeping everyone together and setting meeting points after giving time to shop and view different viewpoints of the falls. Would definitely recommend. Price included entry to all places, pickup and drop off from hotel. She provided water and a nice post card for all guests and we stopped somewhere that you could purchase a lunch. It was nice to visit all these places and not have to navigate or plan out where to go.

Fantastic Crew and Amazing Wildlife

We did the 7.5 hr cruise. Captain Caleb and crew were very attentive and well educated about the National Park and wildlife. Every effort was made to ensure everyone had a great experience. We saw two tidal glaciers, other glaciers, and many animals including puffin, sea otters, seals, porpoise, humpback whales, Orcas, and various birds. Everyone was given a national park pamphlet with information about the types of wildlife you might see. We had assigned seats to make sure we had a warm seat for lunch. We spent most of our time outside on the deck enjoying the excursion. Each family was loaned a good pair of binoculars to use. Lunch was filling and later during the cruise chocolate brownies were offered. I would highly recommend this locally owned tour company, Major Marine Tours. Dress in layers. It gets really cold on the deck.

Fun for the whole family! We had two young adults and a toddler. I was able to take the toddler out on a small kayak with a clear viewing hole. We lucked out and got to go to Molokini in the afternoon. There wasn’t as much wildlife to see then but overall was a great experience for everyone

Worth the money

This was a fun experience. I would like to note that the $100 deposit is cash but they have an ATM on site. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. I will also say use Waze or Apple Maps to navigate to the location. Google Maps sent me to the wrong location. Definitely worth the money.
