Marco, the guide, knows a lot and going in a small group is a plus because is full of people and not that easy to walk around.
It was a long tour, with many explanations and details about paintings and different places.
Grace_G, Apr 2026
Elisabeth was fantastic. One of the best guides ever! A totally relaxed and educational experience. Thank you.
Linda_K, Sep 2025
Met tour guide and had a wonderful and informative tour of the Vatican. She was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the visit. We enjoyed this entire time. The Vatican is amazing and the tour was the beginning of our visit. So glad to learn from her. As we continued our visit to Rome we were able to see how it applied to churches throughout Rome.

Kate was our tour guide. She did a great job. Tour was well organized and was great experience. Family loved it.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Dear Jason,
Grazie di cuore for your kind words! We’re thrilled your family enjoyed the tour and Kate’s guidance. Your feedback means a lot — it inspires us every day! At Towns of Italy, we put our cuore into crafting authentic experiences and unforgettable memories. We’d love to welcome you again, perhaps on a fun cooking class next time!
Un abbraccio italiano,
The Towns of Italy Team

I had booked a morning tour due to the extreme heat in Rome. The day before our tour was to begin they changed our tour to 1:15. After walking to the location and waiting outside in the line in the blistering heat and sun, i had heat exhaustion and had to leave the tour
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Dear Marilou,
We are truly sorry to hear about your experience and the discomfort caused by the schedule change.
We completely understand how challenging the heat in Rome can be, especially during the summer months, and we regret that this led to you feeling unwell.
Please know that your well-being is very important to us. We apologize sincerely for the inconvenience, and we’ll be reviewing this internally to ensure better communication and support in such situations in the future.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention — your feedback helps us improve.
Warm regards,
Towns of Italy Customer Care

This was an amazing experience that was made even better by our wonderful guide. She was so knowledgeable and led us smoothly through the crowds while making sure we knew exactly what we were seeing. Loved this tour!

Very well organized. Elizabeth was amazing and Full of knowledge. This was a great experience for the family and highly recommend. Lots of walking and steps so you’ll get your workout for sure.

Not up to Viator standards. Waited in line to enter. Tour did not include what was listed. Tour guide was knowledgeable but unorganized. Hard to understand imparting to many details which did not make the tour more enlightening. Did not include St.Peters as stated. Tour ended after leaving Sistine Chapel. We did not get the “shortcut” to Basilica. Had to go separately and wait in that long line. Tour guide said she didnt know why it wasn’t included. Go with another tour company. Expected crowds and slow going, but, this tour was not worth the money.
Response from Host, May 2025
Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we sincerely appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.
We would like to clarify that starting from March 1st, due to the Holy Year (Anno Giubilare), there have been changes to the procedures for accessing St. Peter's Basilica. For security and crowd management reasons imposed by the Vatican, tour operators are no longer permitted to use the usual direct access from the Sistine Chapel to the Basilica. As such, our guides now escort guests outside the Vatican Museums, from where they can independently join the line to enter the Basilica.
We are sorry to hear that the guide's communication style did not match your preferences. All our guides are certified professionals, and we will forward your comments to our team to ensure we continue improving our service delivery.
We thank you again for your feedback and hope to welcome you on a more enjoyable experience in the future.
Kind regards,
Towns of Italy Customer Care

We booked, paid and confirmed a 9:15AM Skip the Line Vatican Sistine Chapel Tour with Viator, with the Tour Operator: Towns of Italy
We arrived at the meeting place and located the Towns of Italy tour operator at 9AM, which was 15 minutes before our reserved 9:15AM tour. The Towns of Italy tour operator representative told all of us that we had to wait for the next appointment which was 1:30PM (4 hours later). All of us were very upset and the representative did not offer a refund. Fortunately, there was a representative from GetYourGuide onsite who told us to contact Viator to request a refund, and she would be able to accommodate us. Fortunately we had booked this reservation with Viator and was issued a refund from Viator after calling and explaining the situation, and how upset we were with Towns of Italy. We then were able to book with GetYourGuide for the 10:30AM tour. I appreciate the support from Viator but would highly recommend that if your tour operator is Towns of Italy, I would rebook with another company. I also would recommend that Viator remove Towns of Italy as a Tour Operator from their site as they can't be trusted.

This experience was so incredibly moving, and tops all other Christian-based tours and experiences we had on our 2 week tour of Italy. The scale is so very grand. The architecture, amazing. The paintings, sculptures, frescos, altars, confessionals, etc. , are fantastic. I cannot adequately describe the grandeur of Vatican City: the Museums, Sistine Chapel, Saint Peter's Basilica are full of indescribable beauty. Every Christian should see it all at least once in their lifetime.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Thank you for your beautiful words. We’re honored that our tour of the Vatican left such a deep impression on your journey through Italy. The grandeur and spiritual power of these sacred spaces truly are beyond words. We're grateful to have shared this meaningful experience with you. Grazie from all of us at Towns of Italy!
Rhoseleen_N, Mar 2025
Our guide was very knowledgeable and clearly explained the history of the Vatican museum. The structure and painting were amazing.
Clodagh_O, Mar 2025
Far too long, no time for water or rest room breaks, tour guide insisted no breaks. The basilica was not included in the tour despite being advertised as skip the line tour. After 3 hours in the museum we then were informed we had to go to the Basilica by ourselves. It felt like the guide was just passing time talking for 3 full hours in the museum.
Jeff_P, Jan 2025
Our tour guide, Kate, was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable. She gave a lot of details, while still keeping us moving. If you want to get in and out of the Vatican in a few hours and see the highlights I would highly recommend this tour. However, if you really want to see as much of the Vatican museum as possible, you may want to consider a different tour as you skip a lot. But most people don’t want to spend 8 hours in a museum. Given a 3-hour time slot, Kate covered all the right things.
PedroJr_M, Oct 2024
Our guide, Roberta, was very learned and provided great insights re the Vatican. Recommended for first timers.
Jane_S, Oct 2024
Our tour guide was amazing. However, the wrap from Crown tours was a bi@tbh. We showed up at 11:40 AM, and I get that I was supposed to be there a half an hour early to check in however I had my wallet stolen on the metro and had to go to the police station because I’ve had to make Canadian ID in it. She was so irritated and made it well-known, however, her colleague a young male was amazing!
The tour itself is worth every penny!
Brian_R, Oct 2024
Tour guide was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend. I learned things about Michelangelo that I didn’t know that were very interesting.
Michelle_K, Oct 2024
Too many people, have to walk fast so that so that it will not queue up. I don’t recommend to families with children or people who don’t like arts and religion.
ROSE_B, Oct 2024
The guide was very knowledgeable but wasted a lot of time stopping and explaining things more than once. We should have seen a lot more of the Vatican Museum but ran out of time.
Judith_T, Sep 2024
The Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s basilica both exceeded our expectations, despite the crowds ++++ on a weekday.
Bruno_G, Jul 2024
Great experience. We covered a lot in just 3 hours. This could have been a bit longer, because there is so much to see and appreciate here. Our tour guide was excellent and knew all the little details.
Samia_T, Jun 2024
Incredible experience; our tour guide was phenomenal and taught us so much as we went. I went with my two grown kids and they loved it. Do this one!
Jurgen_K, Jun 2024
Being in St Peter's Basilica was a stunning experience. It is the most awe inspiring cathedral. The guide was very good at moving the whole group along. She knew the facts and she communicated a huge amount of information. There were quite a few people around. However according to the guide, the Sistine Chappel was half empty. I was certainly happy we took the early morning tour and did not get crushed by the crowds.
Cindy_Z, May 2024
Viator did not actually do our tour, so you don’t even know which company is going to do your tour.
The time changed by 30 minutes without prior notification leading us to waste more time waiting for our very rude tour operator.
Our eventual tour guide Sylvia was great.
Response from Host, Jun 2024
Dear Cindy,
Thank you for your feedback.
You actually know which company is going to do your tour: on the ticket you were provided, you can find the name of our tour operator AND our phone number. We are always available to provide assistance and information.
We usually notify our guests of any change in the tour schedule, preferably in advance. We are sorry you had to wait and we'd like to look further into it, if you provide more details.
Our tour guides are all highly professional and friendly, so we are glad you liked Sylvia's tour.
Our best wishes,
Towns of Italy Customer Care

This was the perfect tour! Our guide, Milicia, was the best!! So smart and she provided us a wealth of information and background as to what we were seeing. She was entertaining, funny, and very knowledgeable! The company provided excellent communication so we knew where to meet, and they were there prepared and organized for our group. The headsets provided were helpful so we could hear everything our guide was saying even when not right near her. The tour itself was well paced, we never felt rushed, and we got to see all of the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, and St Peter’s Basilica. When the tour ended, we were able to stay in the Basilica and continue on our own. We also went downstairs into the crypts to view that area. And then finally to the gift shops before exiting. It was a wonderful experience- our favorite part of Rome, and I highly recommend this tour.
Barrett_H, Apr 2024
Kate was awesome, and super knowledgeable! The tour through the Vatican museum and the Sistine Chapel were just amazing!
Jenny_S, Apr 2024
I paid extra money for this tour thinking it would give some better value but disappointed. The guide was very ordinary from the start with no name, the detail of her story telling and facts questionable, losing members of the group and abandoning the group b4 St. Peter’s Basilica. It’s telling when most of the group were Americans and only one person tipped her 🤔
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Dear Guest,
We are sorry our Vatican tour didn't meet your expectations.
Our tour guides are highly experienced and knowledgeable, we will look further into it to make sure we keep providing top quality tours to our valued guests.

Our tour guide was the best!! Very experienced and told lots of amazing stories along the way, not just of the Vatican museum/chapel but also of rome. We learned so much we would never have known without a guide. Highly recommend- skip the line status is crucial and you also see a bit more than those not on a tour. Was also great to have a guide for St. Peter’s- so much to learn about the details
Brenda_Z, Nov 2023
This tour provides the opportunity to visit and learn about three of Vatican City's essential treasures. All three are unique and distinct in their own significance but also are interwoven with each other--it's interesting to understand how they stand apart and at the same time are united in purpose. As you can imagine, these are highly sought after destinations and the tour guide demonstrated her knowledge and experience with integrating our group in the flow of hundreds of visitors, teaching history and highlighting key points in such an awe-inspiring and sensory overload atmosphere. Like any tour with so many tourists, there is a degree of hurry up and wait throughout the tour and there is a slow-paced walk and/or standing the entire tour. Go with some patience in order to experience some of history's great treasures along with hundreds of others jockeying for views. The ebb and flow of foot traffic works out and you will have a chance to see it all. This was our first visit and the skip-the-line cost is worth it. You don’t actually skip all lines; but it does provide you with a reserved start time. The line for general admission (without the skip-the-line feature) wound down the street and did not look fun. There were times when sticking to a group caused some restlessness; but, as a whole, the guide was an asset for navigating these global icons of history and religious importance.
Georgina_B, Oct 2023
The only reason I didn't give this tour 5 stars is because we ran out of time and completely missed seeing St. Peter's Basilica. Our tour started late and it was a lot busier than we were anticipating so we weren't able to move through the museum as quickly as we wanted to. Our guide was great and told us so many memorable stories. The Vatican Museum is a must-see and has so many wonderful things to see. While the Sistine Chapel was on my bucket list, I actually enjoyed hearing the stories about Michelangelo's creation than actually seeing it in real life. I guess I was expecting it to be more spectacular. But it was just okay. Would have been fine spending 5 mins there and moving on. I would just say that maybe book this tour when you are not on a time crunch because it does run longer than 3 hours.
Carolin_G, Oct 2023
The tour guide was fast and experienced, made us skip the lines and visit the most important areas
Her name was Suzana.
She a bit arrogant but professional and confident
