Colosseum on your own

Ivette_D, Mar 2026
Great for a first day in Rome. There is so much to see, there is not a lot of time to see everything. Takes time and the forum and palatine hills closes too early. Great experience if you rush.

It was really fun and I had a great time. Seemed a bit pointless to meet before, but I was glad to skip the line.

Confusing to get ticket

James_T, Mar 2026
You don’t get the ticket right away. Can be confusing. Not very convent especially when internet does not work.

Skip the line is totally worth it!! Our guide was also very helpful and gave lots of tips to maximize the experience!

Saves a lot of time

999cyberdoc, Feb 2026
Well organised guidance with regular communication to find the meeting point and there on. Being able to jump the queue saved us valuable time. Very helpful to spend as much time at each site as we wanted.

Fantastic tour in Rome!

Katie_H, Feb 2026
Fantastic experience booking through Viator. Our guide was incredibly helpful and was very responsive to all messages and providing us with the information needed to access the Colosseum and the remainder of our tours. He was incredibly informed and gave us the best tips for avoiding the long queues on the day. Cannot thank you enough for a fantasic experience and service.

Good deal, would do again.

Paul_H, Feb 2026
We were prepared to not have a tour guide as the booking explicitly stated it was audio. Come prepared and it’s fine. Met our guy who was super nice and helpful. Walked straight in. We were in Feb so off season and first thing in the morning but it was already very busy with crowds in the colosseum- I imagine it may be a nightmare in the summer. We spent an hour in there and by the time we came out the queue for Palentine/ Roman forum was about an hour long- so remember you don’t get to queue jump this, only entry to the colosseum. We got a fair deal for what we paid and would do the same again.

Amazing!

Rachel_B, Feb 2026
Got there super early, 8:15am and people were already queued. Nice to get in and out before the coaches and huge tours start.

Easy experience. Was helpful and was on time. If you need to get in the coliseum this is the way to go!

After a great guided tour...

Jennifer_H, Nov 2025
After a great guided tour at the Vatican, we wanted a slower pace for this. It was easy to pick up the tickets for the colosseum. The “guide” was waiting in the exact location he said and was there in between to give us info for palatine hill and Roman forum. Great value and great spots to visit!

Fake Guided Tour

Elizabeth_L, Nov 2025
It was not good. I booked audio guides, and when I arrived the “audio guide” was from an app we had to download on our phones. I was with my kids (age 10 & 12), who don’t have phones. So we didn’t get a guided tour. We tried to use the app but it was hard to hear and didn’t line up with the maps. Also- I booked for 3 pm and starting the day before, the operator started sending me messages that I had to arrive for 2:30 pm, which meant we had to rush to get their on time.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Dear Elizabeth, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, although we are genuinely surprised by your comments. Our product is clearly listed as an audio guide tour, which—just like every audio guide service at the Colosseum—requires travelers to download the app on their own devices. We never state anywhere that mobile phones or headphones are provided. In fact, we specifically mention that travelers must bring their own headphones, and we send the app link in advance so guests can download and test it before arrival. Regarding the audio guide not aligning with the map: this usually happens when the app isn’t fully set up before the visit or when multiple people try to share one device. Unfortunately, since your children didn’t have devices of their own, this would naturally limit the experience—something beyond our control. About the timing: we always advise arriving 15–30 minutes before the scheduled entry time. This is standard practice, as all visitors must pass through the Colosseum security line, which can take time. It was not a change to your booking time—just a friendly reminder to avoid delays. We truly try our best to make every guest’s experience smooth, and we provide all instructions clearly and in advance. We’re sorry your visit didn’t meet your expectations, but the service delivered matched exactly what was advertised. Wishing you and your family safe travels ahead. Warm regards, Dream Tourism

Keith_P, Nov 2025
Be prepared for an amazing experience. It was very crowded when we were there and getting around was slow. We met with Sak of Dream Tours. He was excellent and explained in clear and concise terms about our entrance details. Unfortunately, the app didn’t work properly so we gave that up!

Colessium 👍 Viator POOR 👎

Jill_H, Nov 2025
Colessium etc amazing . Viator poor . Had so many emails, whats app messages from different people and organisations. I'd book direct if I were you.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Dear Jill, Thank you for sharing your feedback, Jill. We’re glad you enjoyed your visit to the Colosseum! However, we believe there may be some misunderstanding — we are not Viator, but a licensed local tour operator who provides access and assistance for this experience. We only send a few essential messages containing the ticket, meeting point map, and audio guide app link to ensure travelers have a smooth visit. We’re sorry if there was any confusion caused by multiple communications from different sources, and we appreciate you taking the time to leave your thoughts. Kind regards, Dream Tourism

Colosseum Rome

Gill_M, Nov 2025
We couldn’t find the rep at the arch and subsequently weren’t allowed to queue until the correct ticket time. The Colosseum was impressive but we struggled to find our way out. It was a route march.

Disaster!

ElizabethAnnRiggs_B, Nov 2025
This was a disaster! The WiFi and Internet connection was spotty at the most. The connection kept dropping and the WiFi listing would not appear and then suddenly for a moment or two would reconnect. Never heard a thing via the audio portion. Never again would I recommend this tour!!!!! We ended up simply walking around the Coliseum and then left. It was a waste of our money!!!

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Dear Elizabeth, We’re sorry to hear about your experience. However, we’d like to clarify that our team always sends the audio guide app link and detailed instructions 3–7 days before the tour date, advising all travelers to download the app and test it in advance. We also clearly mention that a stable internet connection is required during use to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted experience. If these steps are not followed, the audio guide may not function properly, as it depends on internet connectivity inside and around the Colosseum area. The system itself works perfectly when the provided instructions are followed. We regret that this was not the case for your visit, but we appreciate your feedback and will continue to remind future guests to ensure proper setup and connection before starting their tour. Kind regards, Dream Tourism

Disappointing, no time to...

isabelle_M, Oct 2025
Disappointing, no time to visit the Palatine Hill, all access closed at 3:30 pm. Why such a high price if you can't even visit the site?

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Dear Isabelle, We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed, but your comment doesn’t reflect the full situation. The closing times of the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill are determined entirely by the official site authorities — not by tour operators like us. We always include the official opening and closing hours, along with detailed visiting instructions, in the message we send together with your ticket. Travelers are also informed that access to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill remains valid for 24 hours from the ticket time, which means you could have visited those sites the next day as well. We do our best to provide accurate information and smooth coordination, but unfortunately, we cannot control the on-site schedules managed by the authorities. Kind regards, Dream Tourism

Lots to seein both areas....

Carmen_B, Oct 2025
Lots to seein both areas. Lots of walking. Wear comfortable shoes. Zak our tour guide made sure we had information about tour and app we needed before our visit which was helpful

Suggestions for improving meetup with Viator Tours guide.

Chris_G, Oct 2025
We found it difficult to find the Viator Tour contact person at "The Arch of Constantine". It is a large area with lots of tourists. Specific details re where to meet and a more visible flag would be helpful (he was holding a small white faded flag. A clear green and white Viator flag would be appreciated). In the end I had to phone the guide to ask where he was. Once located. the guide was very helpful and provided excellent advice on how we could break up our time at the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Having this "skip the queue" ticket certainly saved time by not having to line up and purchase tickets. We did not really listen to the audio guide. There are some educational signs in the Colosseum which provide history information.

Excellent assistance!

Steve, Oct 2025
Gentleman who met us was excellent and prepared to assist. Follow-up discussion was welcomed after the tour. Excellent employee!

I’m highly disappointed...

SaraHutcherson, Oct 2025
I’m highly disappointed with this tour company. The listing clearly states “Admission to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill” with “Guaranteed to skip the lines,” yet when we arrived, we were told by security that our ticket only granted partial access to the Colosseum—not the entire arena as implied. Paying nearly $50 per person for limited access is unacceptable and feels misleading. To make matters worse, the meeting directions were unclear. The representative didn’t meet us where the Viator map indicated; instead, he sent a vague video of his location, causing unnecessary confusion and delay. Once we finally found him, we were informed that we needed to download an app and bring our own headphones for the audio guide—something never mentioned in the listing. In every other self-guided experience I’ve had, the company provided a simple radio or disposable headphones for convenience. This entire experience felt unorganized and deceptive. I was really looking forward to visiting the Colosseum, but this left a bad impression. From now on, I’ll be booking directly through the official Colosseum website to avoid this kind of hassle. I strongly recommend others do the same to ensure you get what you pay for.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Dear Sara, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. We would like to clarify a few points: our tour provides skip-the-line access to the ticketing queue, allowing travelers to enter without waiting in the long ticket purchase line. However, the security check line is mandatory for all visitors, including official ticket holders, and cannot be skipped by anyone. Regarding access, your ticket included entry to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill, exactly as listed. The Arena floor or underground areas require a different ticket type, which was not part of this booking. We always send the official entry tickets and audio guide app link in advance, so travelers can download and prepare before their visit. The listing also mentions that the audio guide is app-based and requires your own headphones. We appreciate your comments and will use them to improve our meeting point instructions for future travelers. Kind regards, Dream Tourism

Tickets were sent...

Mary_C, Oct 2025
Tickets were sent directly to us, we didn’t need to go to a specific meet up as we were running a little late. Only advice is to have a data/roaming plan because guides use WhatsApp to communicate. Also- to utilize the self guided tours you also need WIFI which I did not realize so couldn’t access the tour even within the app I did download.

Great Service!

Rosendo_R, Oct 2025
Great experience! Tour contact was on time. Explained step by step and where to go and approximate time it would take. Perfect!

This is a SCAM

Eyal_K, Oct 2025
This is a total SCAM. Buy your tickets from the official site ticketing.colosseo.it and you would get the same experience for a much cheaper price.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Dear Eyal, We’re very sorry to hear that you felt disappointed with your experience. However, this is not a scam — our service goes beyond simply providing entry tickets. We aim to offer travelers a smooth, hassle-free experience, where tickets are sent in advance, avoiding long queues at the Colosseum. Our customer support team and on-site host are always available to assist travelers whenever needed, ensuring a comfortable and easy visit. In addition, our audio guide app is designed to help guests explore the history of the Colosseum at their own pace. The price reflects these added services and support, not just the ticket itself. We always strive to provide value and convenience to every traveler who books with us. Warm regards, Dream Tourism

Horrible

Rosario_C, Oct 2025
The worst experience ever. That guide sent the details 10 mins prior to the said entry time. And was not willing to take responsibility. This is when I asked him a day prior for the info. Very bad. Never want anyone to have such an experience.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Dear Rosario, We’re very sorry to read your comments, but this review doesn’t reflect what actually happened. Your official Colosseum tickets, detailed entry instructions, location map, and host contact number were all sent 7 days before your tour date via Viator and WhatsApp. Our local host was also present around the Colosseum area on the day of your visit to assist travelers. We always encourage guests to check their Viator messages or contact us directly if they need help — our team actively monitors every booking to ensure a smooth experience. We regret that this misunderstanding affected your impression, but your ticket and details were delivered well in advance. Warm regards, Dream Tourism
