Amazing seeing all the stars you can’t see with the naked eye. Loved receiving photos from the viewing also. Our guide was so knowledgeable and clearly enjoys his work and sharing with others. Book the tour, you won’t be sorry!

The tour was canceled...

Michael_G, Oct 2025
The tour was canceled because of weather. We had already traveled to the site so it was disappointing.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thanks for the weather review. We were disappointed as well. Free show next time for you. Keep looking up! More stars are out there!

Flexible and Friendly!

I’m giving this five stars despite the weather being against us TWICE! The organizer communicated as early as possible when the weather projected clouds for our first reservation and reserved our reschedule with no effort on our part. When clouds rolled in unexpectedly during the tour he adapted as best he could, gave us a few great views, and still gave us a full refund. He even recommended some things to do in the area so we didn’t feel our drive over was wasted. It is a small group allowing for a personal touch, unique amid a lot of crowded heavily-managed tourist experiences. The presenter also had a great rapport with the younger attendees, so this would be great for older kids with an interest in space. If you’re willing to allow for the vagaries of weather I highly recommend this.

Informative, Greg so knowledgable, showed us everything we asked to see! Definitely a must do! Older kids but no babies as you are utilizing pro equipment to see.

Really fun and unique experience. Greg does a great job storytelling and helping everyone learn about what you’re seeing without making it feel like a classroom lecture

Mahalo. Keep reaching for the rising stars.

Great family oriented experience.

Harvey_L, Sep 2024
Very interesting and enjoyable experience with guide who was knowledgeable with a very good understandable presentation of the night sky at this latitude. The telescope views were spectacular.

Great communication and high quality show expectations

Ashley_P, Mar 2024
Stars above Hawaii was great at keeping us informed about the tour. Sadly our first tour was canceled due to poor weather. Early in the day, we were contacted via phone and given options to reschedule or refund. We selected reschedule later in the week. Quickly we had new tickets in our email. On day of second attempt, weather appeared favorable. About 2 hours prior some pesky clouds started to form, Stars above Hawaii reached out to see if we could push back the tour for better conditions. Unfortunately, the partly cloudy conditions remained. While you could see some stars that night between the clouds, Stars above Hawaii is a high quality tour for images and ability to see far off galaxies. We appreciated the cancellation to ensure we would get a great show and not just the operator collecting our money. A refund was quickly processed as we were unable to reschedule due to end of our vacation When we return to Oahu- Stars Above Hawaii will be on our list to see the brilliant night sky and learn about the cosmos

Starry Night

Gwen_C, Nov 2023
Powerful telescope enable us to see rings of Saturn and moons of several other planets. The telescope had GPS programming so no wondering on locations. Our star gazer guide was very knowlegable and it made for a fun, informative night.

Mahalo! Keep reaching for the rising star!

Disappointing and pricey for the value

Marc_O, Apr 2022
It was very disappointing The light pollution at the site made it a very underwhelming stargazing experience. The pictures through the electronic telescope were mediocre at best and some times we could not see anything The story telling was ok It was clearly the wrong location for the event.

Response from Host, Apr 2022

Thanks for the feedback. Not sure where your event was set up, but it seems you were not in the ideal spot; and you should have received the e-scope photos on your cell phone, which are breathtaking. Sad to hear your experience wasn't like the majority of folks experience. Feel free to attend for free if in Hawaii again. Sounds like you did not get the best experience, as your review is the lowest we ever had in 15 years, an outlier, and clearly not the norm. Mahalo and keep reaching for the stars!

Sad

Cynthia_D, Jun 2021
They canceled on us due to weather. Was really looking forward to see it and couldn’t reschedule because we were leaving the island soon

Response from Host, Jun 2021

This review has nothing to do with the star show event, but rather related to weather. Thanks for letting us know you were disappointed. Unfortunately by placing a rating on a non-event pulls our ratings down unnecessarily. Appreciate if you can delete this misleading review. Mahalo.

Wonderful!

ladydiannes, May 2021
This was a great tour! It was in a very dark place by the beach so the stars were easier to see. Greg, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable and helpful. I learned a lot! There were supposed to be a few more people, but they didn’t show up, so I ended up with a private tour! Which was great! I got to see a lot more things. We even had the opportunity to take pictures of the moon through the telescope! I have some awesome pics!! This was a great experience!

Response from Host, May 2021

Aloha and Mahalo! Keep reaching for the stars!!

Great!

Andrew_S, Mar 2020
Greg was a great tour guide! We were able to see many interesting things with his telescope as well as things we can find with the naked eye from home!
