Such an AMAZING experience. Definitely will not disappoint. The water was choppy since Hurricane Lowell had come through days before but didn’t take away from the excursion at all! I had no issues even though I normally have motion sickness if things are too much. Bring sunscreen and don’t forget your towels! So many sharks to see! Get the video option to capture the memories.

What To Expect

Your Oahu shark dive begins at Haleiwa boat harbor on the island’s famous North Shore, where you motor out to the open ocean offshore. While cruising out to the shark diving area, there’s a chance you could see dolphins, sea turtles, surfers or even humpback whales in winter, and the view looking back at Oahu’s shoreline is worth the trip in itself.

Since safety is one of the top priorities for the Oahu shark diving crew, receive a briefing on safe practices and how to act in the cage. Then, when it’s time to finally go looking for sharks, strap on your masks, step in the cage, and your shark watching adventure begins when you’re lowered in the water.

Out here in the open ocean away from the runoff and waves, visibility can often extend to as much as 200 feet (60m). When you first catch sight of a graceful shark swimming slowly but purposefully towards you, there’s a sudden and potent rush of adrenaline you simply can’t contain. Before you can even be scared, however, the sharks have swum to within inches of the cage and are circling in front of your face.

In the waters around Oahu, the most commonly sighted sharks you might find are Galapagos, Hammerhead, and Sandbar sharks, which range from 5-15 feet (1.5-4.5m) dependent upon their age. For travelers wanting to dive as a group, the cage can comfortably hold two adult divers and up to eight at a time—though it depends on current weather conditions and the amount of movement in the water.

And, if you simply don’t want to dive in the cage but are hoping to see some sharks, there’s still plenty of thrilling action you can experience while viewing from the deck of the boat.

The captain and the gentlemen supporting the excursion were awesome. Very educational, funny and professional. I got really sea sick however it was still a trilling experience and I would give a 10 star if I could. I appreciate the experience and I would recommend more people to try it!! The environment was safe and the instructions were extremely clear. So for the folks that left reviews around travel, getting sea sick ,expectations, etc… if you do your research and follow the rules you will have a great experience. The day before our tour, we checked in because rain was expected and were promised it would go ahead regardless. So we made the two-hour drive, and found out at the dock that it was cancelled. Turns out the earlier 6:00 trip had already been scrapped, but nobody thought to let the 8:30 group know. One message could have spared us the wasted drive. Really frustrating experience.

Yi-Ning Chen, your tour was canceled due to unsafe ocean conditions. The Captains made the call at 802am but as our records show you were already checked in and at that time was informed of the cancellation. We didn't have a 600 am tour and don't know where you got that information from but that is false. Our first boat was at 730 am. Please keep your facts true and not misleading. In the perfect world Mother Nature would have given us a call and said that ocean conditions will be dangerous and we should cancel. Since we don't live in that perfect world that didn't happen. Please understand that ocean conditions can change rapidly, and we must make real-time decisions regarding safety. We hate to cancel but when it comes to our clients safety we will cancel in an instant. If we conducted the tour in the conditions that day you would be here posting that we shouldn't have taken you out and now you have bruises and body aches from being tossed around in the cage. I think your review is absurd and you probably didn't look at the big picture of what could happen. Furthermore, you are the only one who is upset that we canceled for your safety and the safety of others. Joe Pavsek - owner

Nice quick adventure. Time in the water could be longer than 20 minutes to enjoy the sharks more. Maybe an additional 10 mins for the people that wanted to back in. We were split into two groups of 6. One group on the boat and another on the water for 20 mins then the groups switched. Seeing the sharks was amazing!!!! At least 15 sharks.

A very wild and thrilling activity! We wasn’t sure if brave enough but really glad we did it. Exhilarating but also able to feel comfortable and safe while experiencing the 6 or 8 sharks circling us. We had 8 people in the cage together for maximum dive time and felt there was plenty of space.

You will get sea sick....

You will get sea sick. Even first boat out in the morning. If watching other people get sick makes you sick even worse. We learned after that 80% of people get sick. I may never be able to go on a boat again. It’s unfortunate because the sharks are amazing and the experience is cool but it’s impossible to enjoy.
