Itinerary

Your excursion begins with pickup from your Lisbon accommodation, where you’ll board a private, air-conditioned vehicle and greet your guide. During the 1-hour journey to Tomar, your guide brings the history of the Order of the Knights Templar to life.

Your first stops are the Castle of Templar and the UNESCO-listed Convent of Christ, the medieval headquarters of the Knights Templar. From the hilltop perch of the convent, you’ll descend to historic Old Town of Tomar, where you’ll visit the oldest synagogue in Portugal.

Following free time in which to purchase lunch at your own expense, you’ll proceed to Constância, which plays host to the former home of renowned Portuguese poet, Luis de Camões.

Absorb panoramic views of the Zêzere and Tejo rivers and then enjoy a short boat ride on the Tagus River to Almourol Castle island, where you’ll have more free time to explore.

Your tour culminates by following a route that traverses the Ribatejo plains and passes Santarém, replete with Gothic architecture. Your tour concludes with drop-off at your Lisbon accommodation.

Great knight Templar tour

João was very well-versed in the history of the Knights Templar’s. We felt p very comfortable throughout the trip never hurried. He was very professional, but yet friendly The local restaurant that Joao chose was excellent, with tupical local food. Definitely a five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating.

Joseph and Phillip were great tour guides and we enjoyed our time spent with them . A wonderful day.
