Do not pass this one up—this is the tour you need to book! Our guide and driver, Filipe, was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable and had an intuitive sense of what we needed before we even asked.
The day started with a scenic drive around Silves Castle, where we learned all about Portugal’s cork trees, vineyards, and orange groves. Honestly, I learned more about the country on this tour than anywhere else! We then explored the Seven Hanging Valleys trailhead and Doll’s Cave before heading to the highly anticipated boat ride.
Filipe picked the perfect excursion for us: a small boat with only nine passengers. This allowed us to navigate much deeper into the caves than the larger vessels, all while feeling completely safe. It was easily the highlight of our vacation.
Afterward, Filipe already had a wonderful seaside restaurant booked for us, where we enjoyed a delicious meal overlooking the ocean. To top it off, he made a clever detour to Albufeira to avoid heavy traffic, giving us a chance to explore a beautiful town instead of sitting in a car. We returned to Lisbon tired but incredibly happy. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

Our guide Rui sent a note the day before to introduce himself and confirm our pick up time. The day of out tour he was prompt, introduced himself with a smile, and our adventure started. Since we chose 9am pick up, we were going to do the cave boat tour first which was unbelievable and memorable. After that he asked if lunch was of interest and since we agreed he took us to his favorite Mar e Sol right on the beach. The people were great, the service the same, and the food wonderful and lots of it for all of us to share and enjoy. It felt like we were visiting a friend that lived in Portugal and wanted to share everything he loved about his country! He took us to small towns that he enjoys with his family so we can as well. So much to see and take in, too bad not too much time. Overall it was a very enjoyable and full day! Hope we can return for a longer stay and have Rui as our guide again 😊
Amazing adventure! Highlight of our time in Portugal. Jose made the trip so smooth. Highly recommend both the hike and boat trip. Don’t let anyone tell you it is too far - so worth it! And bring your swimmers for extra fun!

The views were amazing and everything was so much fun. Be ready for the ride back on the boat from the caves it can get a bit bumpy. Highly recommend this trip!

We had a great time. The Bengali Caves and Algarve region is truly beautiful. Our driver was very amenable to whatever we were inclined to do. We really didn’t know much about the area or what we could see so it would have been helpful to have clearly laid out options in advance mapping out what ways we could have spent the day. It was a wonderful time. He’s very kind but more reserved, not a typical gregarious tour guide.

On the options for the day: they are actually laid out in real detail beforehand, in the itinerary you'd have received ahead of the tour, and I'm sure our team went through them with you again on the day itself. I do take the point that a region you don't know yet can still feel like a lot to take in on the spot, so it's a fair thing to flag.
As for the pace — sometimes we hold back a little on purpose, reading how a guest prefers to spend the day rather than filling it with constant chatter. If it came across as reserved, that was likely a choice made in the moment, not a lack of warmth. I hope it didn't take anything away from the day itself.

Our tour guide Marta described the points of interest during the 3hr comfortable ride from Lisbon to the boat dock. We also felt very safe with her driving ability. My friend was not sure footed walking the cliffs but Marta assisted in order for her to see the magnificent views from above. During the boat ride along the algarve coastline, we entered several caves including the magnificent Bengali and received details about each of their formations. After a dip in the ocean., Marta arranged a delicious meal at a seaside restaurant for us.
This is a great tour and I would recommend you request Marta as your guide if she is available.

This was a great experience. It was a very long day trip from Lisbon but our tour guide, Marta, keep it interesting and the time flew by. She gave us a lot of interesting information as we drve through the country side. Marta was very accommodating and changed up some things so we could do everything that we wanted to see. She also had a great recommendation for lunch and took pictures of my wife and I. The cliffs had a fantastic view. Since it was a windy day and we could not go out on the water into the caves. Our guide arranged a trip to the Chapel of Bones in Faro. Would highly recommend this tour and would very highly recommend Marta as the guide.

I would recommend this private tour with Jose Santos. The drive is a couple hours long but the transportation was in a comfortable AC van. Went to some cliffs to explore around and then went on a boat tour of the coastline caves and dolphin watching. (Only saw one dolphin on the way back from the caves but it was a choppy day out!) Then we went to lunch at a local Portuguese chicken restaurant. Tour started at 7 am and got back to Lisbon around 6:30.

Very efficient way to see the area. The driver was very knowledgeable, friendly and knew exactly where to take us for the perfect experience. The ride down was broken up with stops and the driver was full of tidbits about the countryside. We drove past cork trees, olive trees and an olive oil factory. Many orange, apple, and pear trees covered the landscape. We also saw salt marshes where they gather the sea salt. We saw many stork nests and flamingos. The spot for lunch was a delicous restaurant on the beach. The boat ride was on a smaller sized boat so we were able to go into many caves. The Karst landforms are spectacular. The limestone is full of fossils.

To reach the Algarve region we drove through the beautiful Portuguese countryside. Seeing the Bengali sea caves was on my bucket list and did not disappoint. As the boat sliced through the water on a bright sunny day, we could see the sky through large openings in the caves. After the sea cave experience, Rui, our guide, drove up the western coast, stopping at beautiful beach towns along the way. We had an opportunity to stop for delicious pastry treat. It was a long day but relaxing as well. Our guide explained the areas we were visiting. We stopped to see a fort that had been destroyed by the tsunami. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Don't miss going to Algarve, easy trip from Lisbon. Our driver Hugo was the best. He drove us along the coast on our way back to Lisbon showing us several quaint towns along the way. His Mercedes van was super comfortable for all 4 of us.
The breathtaking views overlooking the ocean are stunning. Algarve is just beautiful. Our cave and caverns boat ride was so much fun! It was a day for the memory books!

Five stars isn’t enough for this tour - it deserves more! While a tour >10 hours sounds like a turnoff- it is worth every hour of the trip! Marta is a fantastic guide and she makes the time pass quickly. The boat to the caves can’t be described - you just have to see them. lunch along the beach was relaxing and delicious. The ride home with stops at beaches you might otherwise not know exists is the final advantage. Don’t miss an opportunity to take this tour- if nothing else, hanging out with Marta for a day will be well worth the price!

This experience was truly AMAZING!!! Our tour guide Filipe was exceptional! He picked up us promptly from our hotel in a private sprinter van for just us and took us down to the beautiful algarve region! He guided us across GORGEOUS landscapes and took tons of pictures for us! The seven hanging trail and the boat tour to the caves were truly a once in a lifetime experience!!!! He also was kind enough to make lunch reservations for after the boat tour for us at a delicious place!! You are also able to stay at the beach or swim during this tour. Filipe informed us of the proper attire and gear to pack, allowed tons of flexibility on our tour even taking us to the beautiful albuferia region to shop and look around for as long as we would like. We never once felt rushed on this tour and can’t appreciate enough the ample guidance and kindness from Filipe! This tour is a once in a lifetime trip that is so worth it!!!! Was an amazing experience and highly recommended this tour particularly if you have less time and want to get to Algarve coast from Lisbon and back in the same day. The boat ride and caves were breathtaking with ability for a nice dip in the beautiful blue water. Our tour guide Filipe Crespo was the absolute best - drove well, so knowledgeable, and also took us to many additional scenic spots on way back!
We had the special privilege of having Rui as our tour guide for the day on this incredible journey from Lisbon. To start off, he offered to pickup a quick bite to eat before we got on our way to the Algarve area. Rui was very accommodating, highly educated in Portugal’s history, and an extremely safe driver. I could keep going on about how great he truly was. The destination smashed our expectations! The hike allowed us to explore the tremendous cliff formations throughout the various caves in Portimao along the coastline. The hike provided one viewpoint of the caves while the boat ride provided a whole different perspective. The hike and boat ride were perfectly intertwined with each other. After the boat ride, Rui had a reservation set for us at a restaurant at Mar e Sol where we had an Algarve based dish called Cataplana which was beyond phenomenal! We ended our trip with some beach time at Praia da Rocha which was beautiful. It was a 10/10 experience and worth every penny. This is how Portugal should be explored!

Algarve was one of the highlights of our Lisbon trip. Filipe Crespo was our tour guide, from early morning pickup to his insights all day he was terrific, he made the trip to Algarve enjoyable. Make sure this tour is on your bucket list. The boat was great and it’s hard to put into words how beautiful the caves and town are. It is a must see.
