Time allotted at the fish hatchery was too short. Had to rush through the hatchery bldg without reading lots of the information in order to keep on schedule.

Informative, great scenery, knowledgeable guide/driver. He was entertaining and tried to include everyone in conversation. Always careful to make sure he left no one behind at the various stops. He was great!

The hatchery is a great place to spend 60 to 90 minutes. The tour van drops you off and it is a self guided tour. The tour van drops you off at the Ulu factory and you can watch them make the knives. It is also a gift shop with many other items. Thank you Hunter.😁

It was an interesting tour. We learned a lot about how they protect and keep the population of salmon in Alaska.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Thanks for taking the Salmon Adventure with us, Edita! We're happy to hear the tour helped you understand more about how Alaska protects one of its most iconic species. It’s always amazing to see how much goes into preserving the salmon population. Hope the experience left a lasting impression!

Fun experience. The fish hatchery was very interesting and informative. We were also able to see salmon in the creek heading up stream..
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Thanks, Kendell! The hatchery is such a cool place, right? It’s wild to see the salmon journey up close and realize how much effort goes into protecting Alaska’s fish populations. We’re really glad you had a fun and educational time. Hope your whole day by the creek was a memorable one!

Very informative and interesting! So much to see and do, many interactive displays. We also loved all the art work
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Thank you, Mary! We’re so glad you enjoyed your time on the Salmon Adventure—it’s one of our favorite ways to connect people with the natural side of Anchorage. Between the hatchery, the local art, and the salmon themselves, there’s a lot to discover in that little corner of the city. Thanks for joining us!

Basicaly you pay for transportation bacause the hathery entrance is for free. If you are more than 1 person better to take Uber to safe money. The place is quite close to the city.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Thanks for sharing your perspective, Martin. While it’s true that the hatchery is free to visit, we like to think the value of the Salmon Express is in the ease, storytelling, and round-trip service bundled in—especially for guests without a car. That said, we always want folks to feel their experience was worth it, so we appreciate your feedback and will take it to heart.

Our bus driver, Bob, was knowledgeable and engaging. We really enjoyed seeing the live, wild salmon swimming in the stream. The waterfall was lovely.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Thanks, Susan! We’re glad you enjoyed the Salmon Adventure with Bob—he’s a wonderful storyteller and always knows the best spots for a great view. Seeing the salmon in the wild and catching that waterfall makes for a special experience. Thanks for riding with us!
Michelle_F, Jul 2024
The live salmon swimming up stream was definitely what I was hoping to see and they were there and plentiful!
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Thanks, Michelle! Sounds like the salmon didn’t let you down—what a sight to catch them making their way upstream. We're so glad you got to witness that firsthand; it’s one of our favorite parts of the Salmon Adventure. Thanks for riding along!

Easy bus ride from the Visitor's Center to the Hatchery. The guide did a great job giving background information and ensuring we were getting the most out of the tour. Tour was shorter than I initially anticipated. Only needed to spend about an hour there to see everything but was well done with helpful staff and lots of information.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Thanks for joining our Salmon Adventure, Jenny! We’re so glad the ride and narration helped set the stage before you explored the hatchery. While it’s a shorter excursion, we pack it with as much insight and access as possible—and it’s always great to hear when guests feel they learned a lot. We’ll pass your kind words along to the team at the hatchery too!

Riding the Salmon Express was a highlight of my trip! The hatchery was fascinating and seeing salmon in Ship Creek even better.
Julio_C, Jun 2024
The waterfall was awesome, self-guided tour was too short for the money, we were done in 40 minutes.
Jane_R, Jun 2024
It was not great. The Viator advertisement says that you can see Fish jumping and really get up close to the process. In fact you can hardly see any fish and the river stroll is short and again you don’t see any fish. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable however.
Response from Host, Jun 2024
hey Jane,
I wanna say thank you for the review, we actually took this to heart and updated the tour. We now offer 2 stops. First stop at the hatchery, and the second one at lower ship creek. This added stop now allows guests to get off and see way more.
From the thrills of people catching the salmon, to fileting the salmon, to touring the ulu factory and so much more!
thank you for the honest review!
This was our first month offering this tour, that we created from scratch and we appreciate you being apart of our journey.

ps sorry the salmon got in a little late this year due to the colder water tempatues. Boy Oh Boy they Running now.

Hatchery was great and so was our bus driver! Have never been to a hatchery and really enjoyed since my family loves to fish.
Cary_D, Jun 2024
Driver was great, knowledgeable and a nice guy. We learned a lot about the salmon life cycle at the importance of salmon to Alaska. Outdoor exhibit was very informative with optional audio. We had a bald eagle join us for most of our time above Ship's Creek. This is a hidden gem in Anchorage.
Paul_B, Jun 2024
Hatchery was cool to visit, but what made it so special was June! She was knowledgeably of local fishing and gracious while getting us there and back!
