Fantastic way to spend the day, guides are incredible and the dogs are adorable of course! After the hunt we went to Matteo’s family home and enjoyed a 7 course lunch with wine. The food was some of the best we had in Italy and enjoyed it with a lovely view.
The hunt itself was a little more challenging than I expected as we had to go to a high elevation in the mountain due to the time of year. Hiking boots instead of running shoes would have made it easier but there were still some challenging slopes that were very slippery. If you have mobility issues ask first what area you are going to because I think it really makes a difference. They do supply walking sticks which really helped.
It was really nice to get out of the city for the day and enjoy the sites and peace of the countryside. We (well the dogs) found a lot of truffles which was so fun to watch. This was one of our favorite excursions we took while in Italy. Don’t miss it!

Am Amazing experience with Matteo and dogs
Learning and watching the art of the Truffle hunt. The lunch was outrageous with 7 courses filled with the most delicious truffles. And plenty of good wine!
So far, this was the highlight of our trip. There was so much to do. During the Van ride out to the truffle hunting area, our guide gave us a lot of information on the truffle, hunting dogs and truffle hunting in general. They were experts and extremely knowledgeable about truffle hunting. After that, we were treated to a tour of a hilltop monastery where the popes go for contemplation and prayer. It was really special with amazing views and included a cave pilgrimage site. We were then driven to the family Estate, which was homie and comfortable. The seven course lunch was delicious and included wine. The staff was very friendly, and I have already recommended it to other family members who plan to visit Rome.
We really looked forward to this tour because we love hiking, dogs, food, and meeting new people. This tour checked every box for us and we were not disappointed.
We especially enjoyed Wendy and Bobbi the truffle dogs and the food was amazing!!!!
Wear good shoes as they will need to have good treads since you’ll be in the mountains on hills. Some folks did slip because it recently rained. Other than that, this was our highlight of our Rome trip. It was so much fun and the dogs were adorable. To top it off, the lunch was amazing!!!
My Wife and I's experience with Matteo was truly worth more than the price of the tickets! We are from the United States and went to rome for our honeymoon.
Getting to meet Matteo and his background is amazing! He is so kind-hearted and friendly. You can tell he loves what he does. He is such a fungi, and has a deep knowledge about mushrooms.
His dogs are adorable, and each have their own personality. We had the pleasure to join the loveable truffle-sniffing dogs, Wendy and Bonny as we hunted the grounds of the mountains outside of Rome.
Matteo is also such a hospitable host as he took everyone to his house for after. He and his significant other cooked and prepared 7 course truffle-themed dishes in their kitchem while we relaxed at their wonderful abode. It was such an amazing experience to dine, relax, and get to know the other guests that also booked this gem of an adventure. For our group, we had people of other nationalities such as New Zealand and Ukraine; and to connect and learn more about each other and having fun just amplified the atmosphere and experience.
My wife and I agreed that we will definitely be joining Matteo and his adventures again when we return to the Rome area again in the future. I would recommend a thousand times to try it. You would not regret it.

This experience was AMAZING! As other reviewers say, this was the highlight of our trip! Matteo is such a fabulous host and the dogs are adorable. Matteo was so kind to make us truffle-free food for those of us who didn’t like the truffle. We will remember this forever.

this experience is a must if you love truffles! really interesting to see their origin and be immersed in the experience, but then to enjoy the fruits of labor post the truffle forest hike!

Our day with Matteo and his dogs hunting in the forest was a once in a lifetime experience! Matteo was so warm and welcoming and the group became quick friends over a long lunch made by Matteo and his staff…we will remember this wonderful day forever!
Every single detail of this experience is absolutely amazing! The countryside is breathtaking, as is the property where you'll enjoy the most delicious lunch. Matteo and his staff were so hospitable and even accommodated a food allergy for me! As for the truffle hunting- do not miss this!! The dogs are adorable and it is so cool to watch them work (when not stealing a little truffle treat for themselves 🤭) I give this experience a 10/10
Great tour. Easy to get to meeting location. The hunting was very educational. Kids love hiking around with dogs. Food was amazing. Mateo and his dad did a terrific job. We highly recommend it.

All the things you hear about Italy: great adventure, great food, locally made foods and wines. Beautiful area. The drive into the hills alone is worth it and it’s the least important part.
Matteo was very friendly and informative. The meeting point is a little out of the way but he was really helpful informing us on how to get there easily. The tour itself was fantastic, beyond expectations. We had a wonderful time and really appreciate everything.
Absolutely amazing! So glad I was able to fit this into my schedule for Rome. We had a lovely group and a very peaceful afternoon. I would definitely suggest wearing athletic shoes and clothes, and perhaps a jacket jacket. It is very cold in the forest! Also be prepared to eat the most delicious large lunch! I would do this again in a heartbeat
While the hiking was a bit more intense at times than I expected, this was the most amazing experience ever. Matteo was so nice and the dogs were awesome. The dinner afterwards at his villa, with the ambiance was the most memorable thing we’ve experienced. I highly recommend this. You’ll work up a good appetite and finish it off with the best meal you can imagine.
This was a highlight of our 3-week trip in Italy. I highly recommend this experience. Matteo is a gem and took us on the most fun adventure. From arriving via train in Bracciano, Matteo was so kind, helpful, funny, and knowledgeable. He picked my husband and me up, along with another couple and a family of 3. We made a pit stop at a gas station for a restroom break and then headed to the mountains. Matteo gave a thorough background of truffle hunting, his experience, and about his dogs. We then set off to find truffles. Within less than a minute of starting, his dogs, Bobby and Wendy, quickly found truffles. We spent a couple of hours meandering about the mountains, finding truffles, and learning more. Expect a moderate hike to start. After hunting, we returned to Matteo's home, where we met more of his dogs! He then cooked a fabulous multicourse meal with cheese, toast, potatoes, risotto, cookies, wine, and more. The meal was very filling, and highlighted the flavors of the truffle. I HIGHLY recommend this experience. It was one of our favorite things we did across Italy. BOOK IT NOW!

What an amazing day! Matteo was always in contact with me helping with train schedules and picking me up at train station. The dogs were amazing and Matteo explained a lot about truffle hunting.
